My uncle was a baby boomer and he kept wishing for a meteor to hit but I told him that every generation had a contingent that believed the end is coming and they were all wrong and that the chance it would happen in his lifetime was nil. Maybe I do just feel our collective fear but the richest people are building doomsday bunkers and selling their stocks for billions of dollars, something does seem to be happening. Start a farm, create art that affirms the values of life and positivity, breed a new variety of Dahlia, make a new recipe for chicken soup, clean up your front yard really nicely and you'll observe everyone in your neighborhood follow suit and do the same.
