It did sound like bone cracking or breaking the bones because there is bone in a wing the bone is what makes the wing kinda like sturdy or something like that and an Axe can cut trough bone if the axe is sharp enough so thats probably why he chose the axe to use when cutting off his wings Idk my science teacher said that wings have bones in them but like not the bug wings just the ones with feathers And if you already knew that i am sorry i was just trying to let you know unless you dont know about that and thats what i think the reason is behind the noise of the breaking bone sound
