The Pro Chess League is a $150,000 16-player team tournament taking place on Chess.com, featuring Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Anish Giri and many more top players. The first five weeks are a Swiss tournament that will see half the teams eliminated before the Playoffs, which are an 8-team knockout.
Each team has 6-10 players, but only 4 play each week, with an average rating cap of 2550 and at least one woman in each line-up. Each member of the team plays each member of the opposing team at 10+2 rapid chess. In case of a tie the players play another round of games at a faster time control.

At one point you mentioned *in passing* when Black played a5 (intending a4 to defend the bishop on b3) that the b3 bishop could also be defended by Queen to e6. The problem is that Nc5 would fork the b3 bishop and the e6 Queen so the bishop would be lost on the next move.
@jdarov
@jdarov Жыл бұрын
Just plugged into engine and that is indeed the top engine move very nice spot! Best response is Qc8 so after Nxb3 e4 Bxe4 Qxc3 black is at least up 2 pawns for the bishop which only gives white a +2 advantage. Which means for me that in about 2 moves I'll blunder the queen and lose anyway but for a GM is completely winning

That’s a mean come back by Magnus. I think it’s just like adgamator said playing. Bishop capture a2 wasn’t the engine move, but everything else was just perfection. That’s the difference between Magnus and everyone else he made a mistake, but you have to play with engine precision to capitalize on it or he will turn the tables on you. After Ra7 check on time9:05 by Liang , Carlsen could have moved his king to b8 instead of c6. This would have forced Liang either to leave the a file or move to a6. in a6 case, Magnus would move king to b7 and thus getting the rook.

Crazy how one rook move essentially caused awonder’s down fall. Had he blocked the pass pawn from moving with the precise move his rook would be protected by the pon giving him ample time to promote his right side pons. However under constant pressure of promotion caused by the imprecise move with the rook, he doomed the position to either a draw or worse as shown 😮

Its romanized name so its okay to pronounce it latin-like. I live for several years in china and even people there have different pronoun for the same name. For example warm can be called Wen or Woen depending on dialect. Not to mention hundreds of small tribes that you dont even know the dialect. romanized chineese name can be pronounced as-is, because the native language itself does not have singular pronoun. Another example is russia Ivan. It could be called Ai Ven or I Van or Ai Van. All correct

I actually watched the game on Chess Brah's Twitch channel. I made a comment stating Magnus was sabotaging the Brah's match. I happily ate my crow at the end.

Magnus wanted to win a losing game from a -10 position. He has done it in rapid game. Classical is not too far off.

Interesting that we have to introduce weakness into our chess (through time) in order to keep it entertaining. The full classical game is less fun now that we know we are only children in this world, and the big grown-up engines could crush us any time we dare to take them on.
