The 2019 GRENKE Chess Classic is a 10-player round-robin held in Germany from 22-29 April. The first 3 rounds are in Karlsruhe alongside the GRENKE Chess Open, then after two additional rounds in Karlsruhe and a rest day the last 4 rounds are in the Kulturhaus LA8 in Baden-Baden. The field features World Champion Magnus Carlsen and fellow Top 10 players Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vishy Anand and Levon Aronian.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for 20 moves and then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If players are tied for first place a rapid play-off will take place. Official website: www.grenkechessclassic.com

Opinion: Magnus Carlsen didn't need to play a crazy Benoni . I think he played it to really test young Keymer. I mean he's friends with Leko and knows he's his young student prodigy. So Carlsen didn't play extreme main lines and completely crush the kid. But tested him with a sharp opening. Love our world champion.
@markedwards9247

@@tylerross9706 Let's not kid ourselves, even at 13 Carlsen could hogtie much better players than I'll ever be over the board. A game of intrigue and challenging moves with neither player at their best but prepared to sit and fight it out. Not brilliant, not a master piece but a slug feist...wonderful, and a deserved draw but for a few moments of M.C's "slug it out to the bitter end" play, eventually winning it....Your explanations enhanced this game. I enjoyed it immensely.

As always, love these vids as well as the extra photos/video captured from the tournament. Just one minor suggestion - If you could show the photos / video coverage as it matches the point in the game (based on piece location), that would provide us some insight as to their thoughts at that moment, adding an extra dimension to your videos. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Again, your videos are great - this is now my favorite channel!

If Carlsen had taken the rook, Keymer would’ve taken the knight with check and then captured the other knight as well. It would be a queen/rook vs. queen/two bishop endgame, which was apparently a drawn position
