@wallysullivan93156 ай бұрын
@@isabellam1936no, the eval bar is incredibly misleading. There are times when it is accurate, but there are positions that it refers to as winning or a draw that are only winning with perfect play. Not even Magnus Carlsen is capable of playing like a 3700 rated engine for more than maybe a few moves, so perfect play is impossible. Engines play chess by calculating beyond what humans are capable of, strong humans play chess by reducing their need to calculate through positional understanding. At lower levels the positions usually arent that complicated, so yes, reviewing your own games as a lower rated player (I dont know if your rating is high or low) can actually improve your chess knowledge, but at higher levels it just shows blunders, which at that level you can easily find yourself. The "better moves" it shows at that level are moves no human would ever play (unless they prepped ahead of time with the engine)

@@paulharris2331 I believe you’re right that Magnus offered the draw I googled and it’s pretty much what was stated
@jodymccullough5891 Жыл бұрын
Naka did offer the draw but if you look at the position there is a very obvious perpetual. Carlsen in fact had a mate in 7 or something like that but he only needed a draw and the perpetual was right there. I think Naka even stated later that that is why he offered the draw, because he thought it was a perpetual. It was a pragmatic decision by Carlsen to accept the draw offer, not sure about gentlemanly. I have seen him refuse draw offers even when he had already won the tournament (not that I blame him for doing that - he has every right to try to maximize his tournament score).
@aaa1820-g4g Жыл бұрын
@@jodymccullough5891 magnus offered it, it was a sure checkmate in 6-7 moves even if you played the best moves, anything else would be shorter checkmate, the king was wide open hounded by a queen and bishop, no chance
@jodymccullough5891 Жыл бұрын
@@aaa1820-g4g I have seen multiple sources that said Naka offered the draw and Magnus accepted. In the end it is not worth arguing over too much. It is easy for us to sit and look at a position with all the time in the world and see a mate in 7, much harder scenario in the heat of the moment in a *bullet* game. Regardless of who offered, I would still say it was more pragmatism on Magnus's part. You could mess around and end up losing, especially in a bullet game and especially to Naka. So why would anyone with half a brain do that? Take the draw, take the match, take the tournament. Not really a lot to think about.
@user-ee1lo1il3f Жыл бұрын
people think naka's the favourite in 1+1, forgetting that 1+1 and 1+0 are completely different. magnus has in fact won their last three 1+1 matches, including a dominating score of 7.5 to 2.5 in 2017.
