Yes, you could write it the way you did, but the other way better showcases how impressive it is and will grab more attention, which is the point of an KZbin video 🙄And if you tried the brick thing yourself you'd notice you actually can fit the card in there pretty easily, whereas in the pyramids you won't be able to regardless of how much force you put in it. Carlson understands his time in the sun was long enough so he does things like this, as well as with the lady he played not long ago. He no longer cares about rank, but now understands the confidence he can inspire in new players by dropping a win here and there. Not only that but he even gave up his belt so others wouldnt get disheartened. I can't get interested in all the forms of chess that limit the time a player can study the board. I learned without a clock, and never played a game with a clock. To me the clocked quick games of today take something away from the game, not allowing a player time to study the board and play their best move. This game was a draw all the way until two weak moves by Carlson, first not attacking the corner pawn kingside and disrupting Oro's defense when he had the chance, and second of course his simple blunder losing a knight. But I realize nobody can sit around hour after hour while someone tries to figure a way out of a well-laid trap.

Antonio, you are referring a lot at the moment to 'your uncle' implying an old duffer. I remember as a teenager sitting down opposite the old men with the intention of pushing them off the board. That was the 1960s when clocks were only just coming in at club level. Some of the old men would build a solid position and then sit it out, confident they would be awarded a draw by adjudication. Since those days, time, counted in seconds, has become ever more important. Nevertheless, remembering Victor Korchnoi, I think you might not make the equation of age and weak player quite so frequently. Some of us oldsters still have our moments and some youngsters I would still dismiss as patzers. Thanks as always for your masterful commentaries.

I think we need to revise the definition of 'defeated' . Defeating should take into consideration 1. Strategically outplaying another player 2. Time control (the greater the number of games you can win against someone consistently in lower time controls should be considered). Kudos to the youngster and maybe even potential prodigy. He played a solid game even sound. I can say he won against Magnus Carlsen but to say he defeated Magnus is a different conversation all together. Defeating magnus is like Alireza winning 100+ Blitz games against Magnus in one night with Magnus winning comparatively same but less than Alireza, like it happened was it a year plus ago. Just my view.

It’s Bullet. Always take it with a grain of salt. Magnus was black and blundered a whole piece. Impressive for a 10 year old absolutely, but not really a big deal

What I wish is how to understand how a 10 year old brain can master such a complex thinking game like chess in only a couple years. It's just baffling when you look at what "normal" 10 year old boys are doing.

There is some tremendous young talent out there these days. Maybe someday we'll see a modified WC format with Magnus returning to face ... one of the up and comers, of which there seem to be quite a few.

Levy got also beaten by 10yo who claimed he was a 1000, lol. Okay it was 30 seconds vs 90 but that kid played so fast he didn't actually need time odds.
