I was thinking e4 as well...wish he'd shown that line
@DavidRa732 жыл бұрын
I looked at that line but I think after ... Bd4, Qd5 Kc3 black can't do much. Perhaps Queen trade on b3 but black can't even pick up the pawn because the bishop still defends. Can't check with Rc5 because at that point the bishop is no longer pinned so just takes it. And no point transitioning the queen back to c1 either as the bishop can now interpose on check. Take the above with a bucket of salt though, because if I had a rating it would be lucky to be 3 digits.
@pabloapostar72752 жыл бұрын
@@DavidRa73 I was thinking queen to c6 instead of d5. But even after the bishop block, the g4 pawn can be taken instead. I don't have a good enough memory to keep all the permutations in my head and compare, but after taking the g pawn there seems to be more plays where white gets screwed than black does (like maybe one line where black is screwed?). There is just nothing as "set in stone" as c1 is (and again I don't have the memory to determine if any line after the bishop block can be considered "set in stone").

Incredible array of fireworks! I have question, in case of tournaments ending in the breaks like this, the money prizes are equally divided? As far as I remember I thr past when tie break was with buholz or other systems it was so.
@sportsjefe2 жыл бұрын
Every tournament has different rules for tiebreaks and prize distribution, the only way to actually know is to read the regulations. For this tournament and all this year's Grand Chess Tour events the prize money for equal scores is split, and in case of a tie for 1st, the prize money is combined, $10,000 is removed, and then split, and that $10,000 goes to the winner of the round robin rapid tiebreak.

I dont think agadmator understands the line he shows in the pause the video moment. After Qc1+ and Kd3 Qxc5 is an automatic if you are low on time,but if you play that you will have to calculate what happens after Qxf7+ which is most definitely not easy. So unless you see those couple of checks you dont go for it.

I am surprised that Wesley lost this. Besides Qc1+, he also had Qe4+, as then either the Bishop blocks the check and then Qc6+, or if the King moves to c3, then the Bishop falls to the Rook with check. Either way, the Bishop falls. From that position it would be trivial to protect the f7 pawn or gobble up the b & c pawns, all the while giving check. 😀

Free piece miss info. On the minute 10:16 Maxime made a terrible blunder by playing f4 pawn move, instead he could get a free piece by giving the Qd3# check forking the rook at the same time, and black have to play Knight f5 to support back his rook and give away the knight or play g6 and give away his rook. Agadmator also misses this and do not explains it.
