Anand is the Modern day Korchnoi, Phenomenal player. When Kasparov said you can't swim in the same river twice The tiger of Chennai proved him otherwise 🙌
@ex0duzz
@ex0duzz 2 жыл бұрын
Can't swim in the same river twice? What's that even meant to mean? It sounds dumb and like something a try hard intellectual would come up with on the spot to sound smart but doesn't actually mean anything deep or profound. Better to swim in the lake with the fishes than to swim in the river with the ducks and geese by the shores waiting patiently. See, I can make fake idioms up as well. Lol

@@ex0duzz it's very simple to comprehend he meant to say the chess world is not the same as it was back then So he can't replicate his former success.The river (chess field has changed).You can't swim in the same river twice coz tomorrow it's a different one.Chess has evolved compared to what it was back in the days.But Players like Anand have managed to keep up. It's a well known phrase it's sad you failed to comprehend it.Sometimes a little google search would help out

that sentence Agad chose and when thinking about Kasparov's latest games, it kinda shows the difference between their reaction on playing nowadays, because Kasparov seems more ego-driven when he plays, while Anand is like the sentence on Agad's screen.

52 isn't that old.. Korchnoi played until he passed away at like 80+ and remained competitive till the end. Karpov also played until he was old and still remained damn strong every time he played too. Same as Kasparov. Kasparov could play today and still be competitive IMO, both blitz, rapid, or classical. I remember Kasparov played at St. Louis in blitz and rapid few years ago and did pretty good, he didn't get blown away by the best in the world. I think Kramnik could also play and be strong. And I think ivanchuk, Topalov etc are all stills playing and all are still strong and still are rated. Meaning they still play regularly, just like Anand who is still on top 20 iirc. It's like Anand hasn't even retired yet, since Kramnik and Kasparov lost their ratings ages ago.

In the final position, if black's rook attacks the hindmost queen side pawn from behind, how do you respond as white? Move the rook back and allow the black king mobility? But then why was the final move so strong if it can be undone? I guess you can sacrifice one pawn and try to rush the other one all the way forwards. By my counting you barely make it if you sacrifice your knight, ending up with RPP vs. NPPP on the king side. Is that winning?
