It seems as if Stockfish's evaluation was a bit too heavy on king safety and not heavy enough on acctive play on the kingside. In effect, it was reacting to a threat that did not yet exist. A decent human player might have considered getting the king out of the center, but not all the way to a5, which just took way too much time.

@th3-punish3r955 жыл бұрын
Attlanttizz centipawns is used to determine what position is better just like the point of pieces, as an example, we all know a pawn is 1 point but a centipawn is like 0.1 point and when he said 10 centipawns he means that a person has an advantage of 0.10 points not even a full point, its used to precisely compare positions and who is better. I hope i helped, im bad at explaining

The black king-walk in the early middle game reminds me of shogi (Japanese chess.) In shogi, there are strategies to protect the king by having the king take multiple moves to tuck it away in a safe place on the board.

@agar02855 жыл бұрын
There is a Knight out of play and it is better to simplify the position to increase the pressure on the kingside. Also, black's h-pawn is helping white keeping closed the file. I suppose it is because of that.

...c5-c4 followed by ...a5-a4 by Stockfish in the opening made me cringe. After these moves Black can't put pressure on the white centre or queenside, while White obviously has a big advantage on the kingside, which means Black is strategically lost. This is one of a few examples where humans are still stronger than computers.

I think it's interesting that you can observe from Leela's play that it's in no "hurry to get ahead" like human players and many engines are. Like it seems like Leela's thought process is "This move would give me considerable material advantage right now but the opportunity is not going away so I will postpone the move until I can get an even bigger advantage out of it."; most engines and humans would just grab the advantage right then and there.
