Moving your buildings as the settlement evolves to be as close as possible to the desired resource - especially woodcutters - is key. While all the gathering-type constructs (e.g., Woodcutter, Stonecutter, etc) can be moved without penalty and should be adjusted often - Crude Workstation and Makeshift Post can also be moved for free, as can ALL of the housing buildings. The Trading post and Beacon Tower can be moved by paying 5 wood (and should be placed as out-of-the-way as you can put them). I totally agree you should not take all of your building choices ASAP, but rather only after you've opened a couple glades and seen what resources you have to work with, and then only if you need (and can build) another building - otherwise wait until you know what you need. This game comes at you like a hand of 5-card stud poker and you have to work with what you get and adapt. Set up a 2nd Hearth as soon as practical once you have more than 14 Population (with the small warehouse you mentioned). 2 hearths, both leveled to 3, with Lizards in place, is a huge help to resolve and blight resistance for storms as hostility builds in latter years.

@@BobDodgey great tips, I like the 5 card stud poker analogy!

Two other tips I believe are useful: the only time resolve does anything is when it is 0 or below or above the reputation threshold. For this reason, you can usually deal with the first storm even without houses and the comfort bonus. This also means the resolve rainpunk should only be done inside the storm or when going for the threshold. Second: basically all dangerous/forbidden glade events can be solved by training gear, some advanced fuel or insence (oil might do both fuel and insence depending on the specific event). this basically means with those three you never have to worry about not being able to complete one.

There's no reason to not have immediately shelters for everyone, though. They're cheap, you need them for the Hearth upgrade, and they might even activate Drizzle effects or negate Storm ones.

A tip not covered here! If you find a large patch of Fertile ground say about 13-15 big? Build two of the same farm type around it. The two workers can only reliably clear out size 8 farm plots even with a drop off point close by.

An "L" or a "T" are faster to put down at first, and that leaves a bit more room for arranging buildings.
