My friend fround a huge "agate" I say it's one of those rocks you like. But it does have some agate qualities. We were wondering if you get close to Duluth if you could have a look at it. Love your channel.

Loved you cut your don’s rocks. What a great dad son moment. My dad cut open dozens of rocks for me when I was young. I am 67 and he is gone now but remembering those times still makes me smile

I'm in oregon. I had an Uncle that actually made agate butterflies from agates like you have. They were beautiful. He made a coffee table and placed some of the most beautiful agates and crystal geodes in resin. It weighed a ton, but as kids my brother and I used to pick out our favorites. My Uncle had industrial sized tumblers in his basement. My family of origin were mostly rock hounders. My Dad said I was a hound from birth. He used to tell me that I picked up rocks amd used to make him carry them in his pockets. My beloved late husband indulged me in my rock obsession. I have 2 china hutches filled with rocks I've found on camping trips and day hunts. I don't have China, I don't care for China, but I adore rocks. Geodes are the state of Oregon rock. I love walking the beaches in Oregon and Washington and picking up agates and other ocean tumbled rocks. These you cut were great. Look into turning some of those super banded agates into butterflies. Would be incredible. 😊🦋🦋🦋😊

Im watching with eyes wide open. Finally got my friend to watch your videos! I think he binge watched them👍👊. Now when he comes with me, when I'm looking for fossils and native stuff, his eyes are peeled for agates and every 2 mins he says Taylor said to..... 😆. Taylor said what!John!!! Hey, John look the 🌞 out, go way over there so you can follow the sun, Taylor says you can see them best when the suns out, John. Miigwech to you he found his first Lake Superior agate last week and together we found about 5 other kinds of agates. Do you need a helper or someone to carry your pack, because I'll be happy to send him your way 😆. As always Miigwech for the awesomeness you bring and putting up with my trying to put a smile on everyone's face. Hope you and yours didn't have to deal with all the heat and humidity like we did down here. Always stay safe and happy hounding!

Looking forward to the vid! Anyone here have any suggestions on a camping excursion location? Heading out tomorrow and looking for a River or creek/stream similar to the ones featured in these videos that can be camped at overnight… looking for something within 3 hours drive from Minneapolis.

I know you can camp in Rice County for free on hwy 3 in Dundas, right in-between Northfield and Faribault. It's called the Cannon River Wilderness Area. They have pretty good amenities for being a free place to camp. Its pretty big. The straight river runs threw it, tons of agates are found on this river. Tons of parks along the way if your only thinking about driving around. The plus also, is that you can canoe that river with tons of stops on the way. We also have hell's tunnel and the old asylum that people love to visit if your into spooky places. Heads up if this sounds like a place you would consider then get off the freeway in Northfield for the that campground. Faribault exits are under construction so lots of back ups on the freeway.

Agate dad they all are beautiful since I started following your page because I have always loved rocks matter of fact and high school science was the only class that I did good in I mean I've always liked rocks but really never paid attention to a lot of the agates I have literally passed up I don't know how many of them now I'm more aware of rocks around me and of course I cannot walk past without picking it up and looking at it I have literally learned so much more about rocks than I did before I have quite a few rocks I have found and they are all beautiful in their own way but there are a couple I found out in my backyard that it literally blows my mind how pretty they are thank you for sharing your experience and you cutting open Mother Nature's beautiful rocks

Okay, so this was very enlightening! I’m only just recently getting into beach stones. I live on Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana but I’ve never seen any stones that large! I’m not even sure where to look. I think we need to take the boat out to a section of the beach where it’s completely isolated. At least now I know what to look for. I’ve found several rocks that are very interesting but I don’t own any lapidary equipment. However, I have a friend who just opened a rock store. I’m sure she must have one… right? I am a metalsmith so this is a totally new path I’m on. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in this area! I’ll definitely keep watching and looking for new stuff from you! Oh! ….and don’t forget to drink that delicious looking chocolate shake! 😋 … yummm
