Lilia is a reference to Magik from the comics. The time jumping, scrying, and Eastern European background being huge references. Billy ask her how she found his book, she replies Magik. Also the colors of the queen of cups is a direct reference to Magik's associated colors in the comics.

She doesn’t live in normal time. She is similar to Loki that he can travel through space and time, but she doesn’t control it. She said she is living life out of sequence, she is not seeing it, she is living it out of sequence. Therefore she might not have ended her life there. She died, but she still has parts of her life she hasn’t “lived” and that was where the show ended. Now she will live the rest of her life she hasn’t experienced in sequence.

But to everyone else time is linear and the playlist order never changed, it always ends in her dying. What an experience, to live through your final moments and then continue with the rest of your life knowing how nobly it goes.

Funny, I actually wished Debra and Patti’s roles were switched 😅 I didn’t know who this Patti actress was but omg I couldn’t stand her acting and was relieved to watch her finally fall. I did like the ending of the episode though with basically living her life out again out of sync and is finally happy to be receiving lessons OR is that just one of her gaps where she IS aware only to go back on the same path meaning she really is dead and she ISNT reliving everything over and it’s merely a moment where she was okay. Idk and I love that, just couldn’t stand the acting you all are head over heels for. I’m guessing it must be like seeing Jim Carrey in Sonic and having a part of the audience be in awe of everything he does because they’re such huge fans vs the kids who don’t till he actually does something funny. Which he does however I can’t say the same for Patti, her performance didnt move me one bit.

I don’t think she was experiencing the gaps “again” per se, but experiencing them actively for the first time from her present perspective while her mind was jumping through time. Those “gaps” she was referring to was when her mind jumped through time, which is why in the previous episodes she was completely unaware of it. Avengers level writing 🤯
@ashleywalla40873 ай бұрын
Jen also asks Lilia why the gaps stopped eventually in her childhood, and Lilia tells Jen she pushed it aside but since we see her unable to do that we can guess that she is lying about the reason they stopped. At that point she doesn't know the reason. The reason comes at the end, the gaps stop because she stops imposing on her past, Lilia dies and so the gaps in her childhood stop.

Patti Lupone is the best thing out of the MCU Disney + shows Lillia is allegory to dementia and Alzheimer’s, which is why her character hit me so hard that was my nana 😔 They need to submit her for an Emmy nomination
@tideoftime3 ай бұрын
In Re: Allegory to dementia. That's a valid interpretation. Equally, and arguably more, valid is that it's an allegory for neurodivergent people -- they often have early childhood issues (as noted for Lilia when she was a child), learn to compensate/"mask" (as Lilia suppressed herself across her life, giving her stability but suppressing her true self in the process), then when they're older they either choose to be themselves or lose the ability to do so due to natural age-related weakening of body/mind that happens to everyone (as Lilia notes how she is having the issues now, later in life, that she used to have as a child).
@allisonpozzo3 ай бұрын
@@tideoftimeThat’s a fair assessment. But I do think that more people resonate with it as a dementia/Alzheimer allegory, especially anyone who has seen a member of their family go through it. From the lucid moments to the times that the person is thrown into the past and sees that instead of the present that is in front of them. Especially with how soft Jen was in speaking with her, telling her she was confused and gently directing her and reminding her about what was going on. And going from moments of recognition to nothing at all. I don’t think it matters which interpretation a person has of it though, because both are beautiful and Patti absolutely killed in this series, with this episode being an absolute masterclass in what a talented artist she is.

This just shows how terrifying lilia’s power actually was. To be able to see your entire life and able to move back and forth basically through time and interact in those moments. She could be one of the most powerful witches in the MCU up to this point. She saw her coven mate die in episode 3 at the first trial. So she relived that memory while hallucinating. Another reactor put it in today’s terms and said he felt this is how being an Alzheimer’s patient is probably like. Constantly remembering and forgetting.

What’s crazy is that Lilia is learning all the information from Jen, who learned it from future Lilia in the past, who learns it from Jen, It’s a time paradox and I love it

There's at least some level on which he's both Billy and William. The sigil only prevents him from telling witches his name (and other facts about himself), but when he introduced himself to Agatha he first said William Kaplan and then Billy Maximoff, and the sigil covered both. So both of those are "his name".

I think its Billy's original consciousness in the body. But he lived only what? 4 or 5 days as Billy..and then years as "William" so he has some deep identity confusion.

There was a comment that she was living her life in time, we were actually watching Lilia actual time line. We were no longer in our timeline.

Absolutely loved this episode, LOVE the freddy sweater! Them going through time and having her go all the way back to her lessons so she can live another life. Incredible. Sisters in the craft made me tear up.

Jennifer might've been Mother Gothel or most likely Queen Grimhilde, Stepmother of Snow White. She's also in the credits as the old hag. It makes sense since Jennifer cares (maybe obsessed) most about everyone's complexion.

It’s the Queen from Snow White. She holds an apple in one scene.

The metro station being an exit is a callback to when Sharon Davis mentioned that the only thing below Westview should be a failed rail system constructed by the town.

One of the best MCU tv episodes ever. Genius nonlinear writing that would make Christopher Nolan burst with pride, and a truly S tier performance by Patti LuPone! I knew all of the odd things that Lilia said and did this season weren’t random. Especially name dropping all the tarot cards and out of nowhere statements during important moments of the show. But I didn’t expect it to be done so beautifully. And my heart broke when she sacrificed herself to save her coven, Agatha better find a way to bring them back at the end of the road.

Imagine how amazing it would be if Aubrey Plaza and Ryan Reynolds talked hahaha

She doesn't do it all over again. We're just seeing her witches journey from middle, end to beginning.
