B: "You are set on this confrontation then?" A: "I have to know the truth." B: "So be it, but understand this, much will change as a result of this encounter, including you." A: "Isn't that true of all things, as time advances?" B: "My dear, when I say change, I mean death." A: "So I will die?" B: "Will you? I didn't know that. Goodbye then, Ahsoka Tano, former Jedi Knight."

Lilia is a reference to Magik from the comics. The time jumping, scrying, and Eastern European background being huge references. Billy ask her how she found his book, she replies Magik. Also the colors of the queen of cups is a direct reference to Magik's associated colors in the comics.

This performance is really good and moving. Lamorne Morris just won supporting actor for barely being in the last season of Fargo and not even being the best supporting actor in the show. Jamie Lee Curtis won the Oscar for not even being the best supporting actress in her movie, let alone among the nominees. There are tons of examples of good and even bad performances being awarded as great.

I think this is not the end of Lilia. Or at least not the last time we see her character in this show. Given that line from her and the fact that both the Windfall card (Tower Reversed) and the Destination card (Death) represent Transformation, I think we will be seeing Lilia again. Maybe as the spirit that guides them to the end of the road.

In the first episode, in the post-delusional fight with Rio; "Rio: You *cannot* kill me. Agatha: and *you* can't kill *me*. It's against the *rules*." So Death can only collect. She can't kill her enemies. That's a nice touch.

She doesn’t live in normal time. She is similar to Loki that he can travel through space and time, but she doesn’t control it. She said she is living life out of sequence, she is not seeing it, she is living it out of sequence. Therefore she might not have ended her life there. She died, but she still has parts of her life she hasn’t “lived” and that was where the show ended. Now she will live the rest of her life she hasn’t experienced in sequence.

Yep. Her life was a playlist on shuffle and her death, from her perspective, was like track 4, so next she experiences track 5 which is the final scene of the episode, and so on from there. But to everyone else time is linear and the playlist order never changed, it always ends in her dying. What an experience, to live through your final moments and then continue with the rest of your life knowing how nobly it goes.

i think she'll return in a similar way her teacher returned after dying. she's probably had a conversation with someone "after" she died, and we'll see it down the line. hopefully with strange since she's the one who stole pages from the book of time (i forgot the name lol) in dr strange 1

Yes! When I watched her (the scenes) shifting through the previous episodes, I immediately thought about: Wait, that's Loki's time-sliping! When she said I love you guys back in the 2nd episode, I made a mark in my head because I learned that she can see into the future. And now watching it again, I almost cried. But I didn't, because I'm watching it with my family...

Funny, I actually wished Debra and Patti’s roles were switched 😅 I didn’t know who this Patti actress was but omg I couldn’t stand her acting and was relieved to watch her finally fall. I did like the ending of the episode though with basically living her life out again out of sync and is finally happy to be receiving lessons OR is that just one of her gaps where she IS aware only to go back on the same path meaning she really is dead and she ISNT reliving everything over and it’s merely a moment where she was okay. Idk and I love that, just couldn’t stand the acting you all are head over heels for. I’m guessing it must be like seeing Jim Carrey in Sonic and having a part of the audience be in awe of everything he does because they’re such huge fans vs the kids who don’t till he actually does something funny. Which he does however I can’t say the same for Patti, her performance didnt move me one bit.

With death approaching and having lived through the deaths of friends and family I have never felt more seen in any single episode of TV in my life. If both of the shows are limited series, then yeah there could be some conflict there. I’m not 100% sure (with either show) how they’re being classified, currently. I think Agatha is much more likely a one season show, but even Shogun (even more clearly a one season show, based on the source material) is apparently now getting a second season when it wasn’t planned that way.

I don’t think she was experiencing the gaps “again” per se, but experiencing them actively for the first time from her present perspective while her mind was jumping through time. Those “gaps” she was referring to was when her mind jumped through time, which is why in the previous episodes she was completely unaware of it. Avengers level writing 🤯
@ashleywalla4087
@ashleywalla4087 3 ай бұрын
Jen also asks Lilia why the gaps stopped eventually in her childhood, and Lilia tells Jen she pushed it aside but since we see her unable to do that we can guess that she is lying about the reason they stopped. At that point she doesn't know the reason. The reason comes at the end, the gaps stop because she stops imposing on her past, Lilia dies and so the gaps in her childhood stop.

Patti Lupone is the best thing out of the MCU Disney + shows Lillia is allegory to dementia and Alzheimer’s, which is why her character hit me so hard that was my nana 😔 They need to submit her for an Emmy nomination
@tideoftime
@tideoftime 3 ай бұрын
In Re: Allegory to dementia. That's a valid interpretation. Equally, and arguably more, valid is that it's an allegory for neurodivergent people -- they often have early childhood issues (as noted for Lilia when she was a child), learn to compensate/"mask" (as Lilia suppressed herself across her life, giving her stability but suppressing her true self in the process), then when they're older they either choose to be themselves or lose the ability to do so due to natural age-related weakening of body/mind that happens to everyone (as Lilia notes how she is having the issues now, later in life, that she used to have as a child).
@allisonpozzo
@allisonpozzo 3 ай бұрын
@@tideoftimeThat’s a fair assessment. But I do think that more people resonate with it as a dementia/Alzheimer allegory, especially anyone who has seen a member of their family go through it. From the lucid moments to the times that the person is thrown into the past and sees that instead of the present that is in front of them. Especially with how soft Jen was in speaking with her, telling her she was confused and gently directing her and reminding her about what was going on. And going from moments of recognition to nothing at all. I don’t think it matters which interpretation a person has of it though, because both are beautiful and Patti absolutely killed in this series, with this episode being an absolute masterclass in what a talented artist she is.

Feels bad you guys didnt love the back in time explanations I just want to mention shes not remembering saying those things, her consiousness is "timeslipping" back and shes saying them presently, not a single one of the moments in this episode is a flash back with maybe possibly the exception of Rios reveal... this is how she lives, constantly blipping in and out of pasts, presents, and futures. she hadnt said those things until this present moment for her. Which just happened to be peppered into the past which is why for us its a flashback as we saw them in the past but for her shes just saying them for the first time

Man, this episode was great. The time shenanigans were fucking sick, and it got me actually physically feeling emotion in my chest in that end scene. It's quite hard for me to feel these days, I like it when that shell is breached. Now I just hope Jen makes it out.

I didn't have Disney+, so I can only watch this through reactions, but I can tell even through the broken jumps of reactors that this episode would've gotten me emotional if I could see it in one go without the interruptions and talking. Particularly when Lilia gains focus and her master proudly says "Now, you see!" Her reading of herself, truly seeing herself, would've brought me to tears. 💕

one of the many reasons i like this show is because a lot of the witchcraft in the show pretty closely follows the way irl witches work. obviously without the instant healing and lazerbeams, but divination, protection, green witches etc all actually exist irl and have similar practices/beliefs as our characters do. tarot reading was actually invented in italy supposedly around the time we see lilia with her maestra. they couldnt make a show like this depicting irl witchcraft accurately because itd be boring as hell, but as a witch its nice to see some of our culture represented here

Absolutely stunning! I can not remember a better episode! This show is a masterclass in multiple dimensions. It brought me back to my years as a healthcare provider working with people at the end of their lives. Many fortunate clients greatest gift was the gift of perspective seeing how sections of their lives fit together to give satisfaction and meaning and appreciate empowering their loves ones. Very cool to see Lilia empower her coven for their future and potential for their best lives. Life is not about what you consume or own or even power, but the gift of relationships.

2:00 Aaron -- Billy's powers are like Wanda's. He can detect thoughts (at least those close to him/whom he cares about, as-noted and exampled in WV and stated directly in AAA) and control minds, and has telekinetic powers (again, as shown in WV and AAA).

This just shows how terrifying lilia’s power actually was. To be able to see your entire life and able to move back and forth basically through time and interact in those moments. She could be one of the most powerful witches in the MCU up to this point. She saw her coven mate die in episode 3 at the first trial. So she relived that memory while hallucinating. Another reactor put it in today’s terms and said he felt this is how being an Alzheimer’s patient is probably like. Constantly remembering and forgetting.

There's at least some level on which he's both Billy and William. The sigil only prevents him from telling witches his name (and other facts about himself), but when he introduced himself to Agatha he first said William Kaplan and then Billy Maximoff, and the sigil covered both. So both of those are "his name".

Jennifer might've been Mother Gothel or most likely Queen Grimhilde, Stepmother of Snow White. She's also in the credits as the old hag. It makes sense since Jennifer cares (maybe obsessed) most about everyone's complexion.

One of the best MCU tv episodes ever. Genius nonlinear writing that would make Christopher Nolan burst with pride, and a truly S tier performance by Patti LuPone! I knew all of the odd things that Lilia said and did this season weren’t random. Especially name dropping all the tarot cards and out of nowhere statements during important moments of the show. But I didn’t expect it to be done so beautifully. And my heart broke when she sacrificed herself to save her coven, Agatha better find a way to bring them back at the end of the road.
