The History of Hobbits is clearly mapped out (as far as Hobbit-records go) in the Prologue of The Lord of The Rings. They lived along the banks of the Anduin between Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains, just north of Lothlorien, or at least close. There were 3 distinct groups - The Stoors, the Fallohides, and the Harfoots. Because of the encroachment of Men, and a rising evil in Mirkwood, the 3 groups separately crossed the Misty Mountains and settled in Arnor, mostly in The Shire. The King of Arnor (one of Aragorn's ancestors), agreed that they owned those lands as long as the maintained the Brandywine Bridge. End of story...

I hate it when people get this confused. Aphantasia affects about 1 in 50 and only effects the ability to visualise things in your head, it does not mean you have no imagination or internal monologue, people with aphantasia can perfectly understand hypotheticals and think creatively. Aphantasia is just mind blindness and people can have it for different senses, I can't imagine images but sound, smell, taste and touch are all perfectly normal in my imagination. My own internal monologue can hold complex conversations with myself to think through my thoughts and beliefs and if i didn't eat breakfast I would be hungry. Aphantasia and the lack of an internal monologue are completely different conditions, some people can have both but its the same rate as people without aphantasia not having an internal monologue.
@GutslingerАй бұрын
That kinda blows my mind. It makes me wonder how they're able to think of various things. Like what to say, or if they want to pray silently. I literally have a head voice that speaks each word that I'm typing. Also hard to imagine not being able to visualize things mentally. Are they not able to visually remember past memories? How are they able to enjoy or comprehend reading about various things with no head voice or ability to mentally visualize what they're reading?.. My mental visualization is usually vague and foggy when I'm reading stories, but I can at least picture something.

In regards to returning to the moon and space in general, a main issue is cost. A decent percentage of US federal funding went to NASA for the Apollo missions because of the Cold War. Once the US made it to the moon, public interest waned so funding was cut to focus on other projects. Nowadays with safety, liability, health, labor laws, technology, etc the cost of a mission can balloon quite a bit. And that’s not even getting into the actual equipment and fuel costs to get the thing up and not explode. On the technology side, NASA was using the most up to date technology at the time. Now, a basic cell phone has way more programming and data functions than that entire Apollo set up. Records were also not always properly restored, so papers are either lost or degraded beyond legibility. Plus, the government probably wanted to keep some things close to the chest to keep other countries from finding out. Those tapes are also falling apart and modern computers and the like are actually incapable of processing the information due to degradation and the inability for programs to even scan anything. Think of cassettes, records, tapes, floppy desks, etc that we either don’t have the equipment to access it or the reels are too worn to pull anything from. There’s lots of unprocessed photo reels from the Mars Viking program that they have to carefully work with because the reels are so bad and they don’t have the knowledge or program to access. Plus, NASA was full of nerds during the Apollo missions and sometimes nerds forget to write things down. Anything that they came up with but didn’t leave any notes behind are forever locked in their minds, and those guys are either too old to recall anything or dead. Just thought I throw all that out there.

Since it came up again and got misconstrued with lacking an internal monologue (again), no, aphantasia (mind blindness) is not the lack of an internal monologue, its just the inability to visualise images or another sense in your head. It's not a lack of imagination or iq, its a very minor disability that affects 1 in 50 people. Thinking it has anything to do with internal monologue or understanding hypotheticals is just ignorance. I have aphantasia (completely mind blind, a black void whenever close my eyes) but my imagination and internal monologue are completely fine, every sense apart from sight I can imagine to a high degree, I can hold a complex conversation with myself to think through my thoughts and beliefs, I am good with hypotheticals and answer the breakfast question with I would be hungry if I didn't eat breakfast, I am an avid reader of fiction books and I'm in the early stages of writing my own. All of that without a single image in my head. Aphantasia is just a quirk of the brain and not the cause of all the problems in Hollywood

@myth5588Ай бұрын
@@banhammer3904 you didn't understand what I was trying to say, I didn't say it was literal blindness. Its just the easiest way to describe and the term "mind blind" is used by the people that reserched it. I'll try to describe it better. "Picture it in your head" isn't just something people say, if someone says "Picture an apple in your head" a regular person would mentally "see" an apple, how they "see" that apple in their imagination, people with aphantasia lack the ability, they lack the "mind's eye", hence the term "mind blindness". It's really hard to put into words, like describing a colour to a blind man while colour blind. If this sounds weird I recommend reading up on it

The rumble hour is going to lose its point if half of the panel is gone by the time they get to it.

I love these shoes, but it can be a bit hectic sometimes. Have you considered managing the convo a bit more?

I always thought the mind's eye was a metaphor... I don't "see" the image in my head, but I have all the details that make up the image or scene. So I can't see the thing. However, I can imagine it without detail. The no inner monologue makes no sense to me, though, because isn't that just thinking?

Such a shame that Kathryn Hahn is starring in this. I'd like to see her in comedy movies (when they actually start making them again...). She can be really funny. I thought she was an absolute scene-stealer in Parks & Recreation as Jen Barkley.

I remember i once lied and got a job as a manager of a spare parts department for a whitegoods company. I had zero years experience and the 3 people working under me had a combined 120 years experience.... Suffice to say i had incredible anxiety and quit within a matter of weeks. Hollywood feminists have no shame.

Am I the only one who actually enjoys the smaller panel of tonight’s FNT? Gary, AZ, Jeremy, and Ryan always previously carried the show each week anyways.. and for me personally, Gary and Ryan have always been my favorites. I like Odin and Comix, but I probably wouldn’t even notice if they were never on again. Same with QBG, he offers more than Odin and Comix, but I don’t watch for QBG. Shad and Disparu are suitable replacements for Jeremy and AZ. Honestly, as long as Gary and Ryan are on, I will watch FNT. Like Drinker and MauLer are all you need to carry Open Bar. I view Gary and Ryan as the main pillars of FNT.

I am the same.. Ryan makes FNT for me followed by Gary.. IF FNT loses Ryan its in big trouble imo.. hope he's getting some $$ because its a huge time investment Disparu/Garret are good.. Odin/Comix are whatever.. both are a bit better Az/Jeremy aren't on much.. so they actually talk a bit more Shad is pretty obnoxious imo and doesn't add much

@@Snootz86 it would be a very different show if it were just Gary, Shad, Disparu, Odin, and Comix. I think losing Ryan would actually hurt FNT more than Jeremy and AZ. FNT could be just Gary, Ryan, XRay girl producing, and a rotation of guests, and id still watch.

Agatha All Along sounds like a well-made show, the BBC Culture review was almost wholly positive. However, it is still going to bomb because it is targeting a niche audience, who are too few in number to bring in big ratings. Not for me, so hard pass. Enjoy, if that's your thing.

I caught that Disparu Chumbawumba joke. Also, I believe we did land on the moon, just not when they said they did. I think it was a rush snow job to beat the Russians and complete JFK's claim that before they end of the decade we would put a man on the moon. Then in the later Apollo missions when they had more time, that's when the actual moon landing occured. There's a video of the Apollo astronauts lying about their distance from the moon, where they say they're about halfway to the moon, and they show a video where they claim to have the camera up against the capsule window to show how small the Earth is. Unfortunately for them, they don't turn off the camera right away and when the lights are turned back on, the camera is on the other side of the room and you can see another astronaut pulling a piece of cardboard or something off the window that blocked the rest of the Earth to make it look smaller. It means if they lied about their positions and distance there's no physical way they could have then landed on the Moon when they claimed.
