In my case it felt like I was being bitten by a million sandflies and mosquitoes all at the same time. That sap is dreadful! I found the sap of the Aloe vera plant was very good at reversing the symptoms.

No, no the tequilla has another process to make it ... from agave you can get aguamiel, pulque, quiote, fiber an also you can eat flowers from quiote (the shut) and chunks of quiote for boiling and fray that is a good food like nopales. The hard part of quiote can be cooked and eating like sugar Cain (it is very sweet and juicy)

Cool. I’m researching all I can about agave because they are everywhere here in Ecuador. Giving myself a crash course in the local plants and there uses as I set up my homestead. Glad I found your channel.

during and after filming this you start to realize you have severe itching and burning sensation because Calcium Oxalates crystals on Agave penetrated your skin with toxic reactions.. ''never touched Agave again'' :)

right, what a load of bull! I got rid of these things from my yard and made sure I wore thick leather gloves and washed any skin immediately if it came into contact with the sap.

I agree, and for that reason I now refuse to grow any Agave species. The itching is enough to drive any sane person insane.

Quick video. Must have been all his hands can take before needing a wash and some soap. I did a job today removed a handful of these blue agave. Arms were burning like hell. Felt like fire ants eating my skin while I worked for half the day. Chicken pocks ×20 its intense for about 30 mins at a time.

I have come across a few people who actually mispronounce yuca/yucca. I don't blame them, they don't know but this is actually a spanish word. Grew up in florida my whole life where there is the most diverse hispanic origins in the whole united states so you can be sure it is accurate. Everyone pronounces it as YOU-Ka. That's what I've known my whole life. We don't have just mexicans here but also cubans, colombians, Columbians, puerto Ricans, dominicans, etc. Just a fun knowledge fact for everyone 😊

Is the plant poisonous to chickens when they eat it?
@PsychicIsaacs
@PsychicIsaacs 3 жыл бұрын
No. You can boil the diced or grated pith of the leaves and eat it as a vegetable yourself, if you want to. It is sweet and not oxalic (burning) once it is cooked, and has a texture something like cooked courgettes (zucchini). Keep the juice and render it down and it is agave syrup, which is an expensive delicacy in Mexico. You can feed the pulp to your chickens or eat it yourself.

Agave is high in fructose ,90 percent and 10 percent glucose. The liver is the only organ that can metabolize Agave -- fructose and this puts a strain on the liver , this was what I heard from another source. I'm confuse as if I shoukd eat it or not . Great video by the way.

Aztecs are Native Americans. Just like any other tribe or group indigenous to the Americas. I would say Native American is the umbrella term for all indigenous people of North, Central, and South America. He mentions it was used by Native Americans rather than solely Aztecs because there are other American indigenous tribes and groups that have used the agave plant as it is a widespread plant in the Americas.
