Agave Succulent Watercolor Pouring Painting With Stencil Lifting. I share my process for watercolor pouring with an emphasis on Color, Texture, & Value. The pouring section of this video is shot and narrated in real time so you can see how I handle each pour and the thought process during. The direct painting section is edited to twice the speed in order to keep this entire painting video under 40 minutes. I have been using the stencil lifting method for a while now and was able to purchase a Cricut Maker to not only design and cut my own stencils, but also create larger pieces. I am so thankful and excited for the opportunity with KZbin to share my art journey!

What a journey I went on with you throughout this painting! I was with you then I lost where you were going, then I found you again and lost you again to finally meet up with you again towards the end! Hahaha! 😂You are a great visionary! I also loved the final touch with the soap stone. THEN i saw you are left handed and I fell in love!! 🤣💕(I am too!) Thanks Buffy for an awesome experience! 👍

It was absolutely mesmerizing to watch this painting come alive! Gorgeous! I love how you use unconventional tools in new and fun ways...who would have thought of a nasal aspirator, but it's perfect! Don't tell the art supply stores, they will start selling then for 10.00 each! haha. Thanks for sharing your process with us. 🌻

HI there! I just found you a few days ago via Rachel's channel. There is something about you that makes me feel connected. The way you speak TRUTH throughout your videos is so wonderful! Don't ever stop talking. I lost my inspiration a while back when I had to uproot my life 7 months ago and move from everything I ever knew. I am self taught on watercolor, was terrified of it. So I am looking to learn everything I can, but I still get lost. Oh! YOU ARE LEFT HANDED!! So am I !!! You are the only left handed artist I have found in the 4 years I've been watching art on YT! Do you teach via YT, watercolor from the beginning?? ;-). Were you always an artist? I swear I have forgotten how to draw! I am also slightly dyslexic, which effects everything. Also I wanted to tell you, There is a womans face in the succulent! You can see her before you start painting darker color! I was thinking of your grandmother. Start looking at 24:24.. in the center, you can see the nose, eyes, cheekbones, chin and her mouth with a frown. Up until 28:36.

At 24:33 I see two partial profiles. A nose and a mouth and below it and below that, slightly smaller was a profile of lips, both do seem feminine. Good eye. I can detect smiley type faces in just about everything all day, and hearts. I’m not even looking for them they just pop up. Their was an emoji 😑 in the clouds last night. If I able to post a photo I would. It was so funny.

Watching you paint the shadows and make the succulent come alive was mesmerizing. I have been painting with watercolours for many years, but pouring mystifies me. Yet another path to take on my art journey. Love how you just go with the flow, sorry for the pun, when a whoops happens. It is still all beautiful!

Thank you for explaining your goal with melding pouring & painting. It is helpful in understanding where you are going. Very beautiful color scheme! I was on edge each time you started a layer - didn't want to loose what you already had. In the end you hit it just right! The soapstone was perfect. Never saw soapstone used before - does it have other names? Keep pursuing your passion - you have a gift waiting to turn the corner into real success! You have an elegant color sense which to me is the most important. A great finish, very clean & professional.

Sarah, thank you for all your encouragement! The soapstone is also called welding chalk, I’m sure it has other names too, but I love that you can add a chalky finish and if you don’t like it can wipe away with a tissue. Thank you again for your kind words, just what I needed today 😀

Just a little FYI, rather than using a toothbrush to scrub the paint, all you need is a small portion of a magic eraser and a teeny water sprayer. Spritz the area with water very lightly use the portion of the sponge to remove the colour. Easy peasy and you don't ruin your paper or your stencil. Bit of a learning curve but practice with the technique and have fun!
@watercolorpour
@watercolorpour 2 жыл бұрын
In the early stages of developing this technique I had tried sponges, makeup sponges, magic erasers and more, when I tried the toothbrush I had found the tool that worked best for me. Having to learn pressure control to not scrub the paper raw, what i love most is that by adjusting pressure you can create fades too, areas where there is the slightest amount of stenciling and other areas to lift back to the white of the paper.

Your art is very lovely. I'd like to ask you the name of the template tool you are using. How do you transfer it to from the photo and then to the paper? Does it have holes on it?
@watercolorpour
@watercolorpour 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you and the template is a stencil. I design my own stencils and then cut them out of stencil blanks that you can purchase on Amazon. They can be cut by hand (scissors or utility knife) or using a stencil cutter like the Cricut Maker. Here is the link to the stencil blanks that I use : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TPLJPT3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Beginner's question: why do you put salt in your spray water? Also, there's an interesting face in your stencil. It's looking down and to the right. It's in the top half.

How did you cut the stencil on the Cricut?
@watercolorpour
@watercolorpour 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Short answer: I designed the stencil using photoshop and then uploaded to cricut design space, using the deep cut blade (very important, had to order it separately) with a 6 mil stencil blank. It was able to cut the stencil in one pass 😀
