Nice to see you back! I remember faffing around with the game editor when I was a child. It was pretty cool placing some units & buildings and seeing how the hole thing devolved into chaos!

Thank you! Speaking of map editing as a child, I think there's still a scenario on a hard-drive backup of my dad's old computer called "WAR" that I made when I was 7. I think it was a fort full of Woad Raiders and an army of enemy Paladins outside.

Hey man,how do i place buildings into eachother?
@MrKleekus3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question. There are a couple of ways. The first, and by far the easiest way is pressing Ctrl+G to toggle free building placement. You'll know this works when the building you are about to place turns from red (meaning you can't place it) to yellow. In my experience you need to press Ctrl-G twice to get it to work, idk if that's because the keybind does something else as well or what, but it's just something worth pointing out. Alternatively you can place the building, use the map copy tool to select its foundation tiles, click copy, and then you will have a terrain brush of that building, which will allow you to overlap buildings. This method is kind of shoddy, and it's really only effective if you make your selection slightly smaller than the foundation of the building, but it will work in a pinch. Hope this helps!

any thoughts on the upcoming aoe 1 remake?
@MrKleekus7 жыл бұрын
I think it looks really good, but my understanding is that, since you need xbox live for multiplayer, microsoft is playing a bigger part in its development than with any of the other AoE remakes/re-releases. I'm kind of afraid that it's going to be a full price game, even though I really think that a game as old as Age of Empires I should be no more than 30 dollars at a relaunch.

Sorry for responding late! You have to make sure the player in the drop-down list is set as Gaia. Thanks for the question.

Is there any way to undo an action? crtl z doesnt work.

Unfortunately there isn't, although that is probably one of the most useful things that is missing from the Editor tbh. Thanks for the question, but sorry it isn't the answer you were probably hoping for.

I need help. I created a map for 8 players and now I want to set the spawnpoints for each player. To place a town center for each player (in their color) is buggy because after the start the colors are random for each player (not that color what they picked). I heard to place a flag for each player, but after some hours I couldnt find a helpfull tutorial or something like that. Sorry for that bad english ^^

First of all, thank you for your comment, this is a super interesting situation. Frankly, I don't even know if there is a solution to this given my knowledge of the game's mechanics and its limitations. That said, I think there are a couple of workarounds. I think most simply, you could place a Gaia Town Center in each of the spawn points and after the start of the game use a trigger with a "create object" effect to place a flag for each player next to their Town Center, which of course would convert it to their color. There is a less intuitive option, and that is to create a trigger with a "place foundation" effect in order to force the players to build a Town Center in a forced location, in this case their intended spawn point - this does require them to have villagers though, which could be its own problem depending on what you want your players to start out with in this scenario. I hope both of those make sense and that one of them helps you out, although since I haven't seen your scenario I could be missing some details. Anyways, thanks again for the comment, and your English is also great btw :)

@@MrKleekus Thank you for your answer. I tried it, but I think I can live with the random color system. I have to accept that is a Scenario Editor not a default gamemode editor, but I still will use it for it :)
