Not super excited about Danish and Polish civs since they’ll at most have 2 or 3 unique units and buildings, with the rest of their rosters being shared with the other European civs. We already got a taste of Danish and Polish (and Lithuanian) units with the latest DLC so it’s not like we’ll be seeing Winged Hussars for the first time. On the other hand, Native American, Asian and African civs have almost completely unique rosters and building designs.

@@gtone339 I am excited that the new civilizations will be the Poles, and the Danes. I could see how adding the Koreans would round out the Asian aspect of the game. I see it similar as adding the Incas in the Definitive addition. Personally, I have found it interesting watching the game go full circle. It started out as a game premised on the European powers exploring and colonizing the new world and fighting amongst each other, to making it all the way back to Europe. In the last expansion we seen European maps for the first time, two new European civilizations, that have little connection to the new world, and the addition of royal families. I am excited to see it expanded upon. This probably being that my favorite civilizations to play are the Germans, French, Dutch, and now the Maltese. I am very curious to try the Byzantines in Age of Empires IV. As I also do very much enjoy that game from a historical point of view, and my perceived immersion into it. In that game I prefer to play the Holy Roman Empire, followed by the French, and the English. I do think that the Poles would be another great addition to that game as well, for a classic medieval experience.

Well, I am also disappointed. I was hoping to see 'detailed' plan for the upcoming updates and DLC in AoE 4. However, the new content given to the AoE 3 and some sneak peeks of Mythology made my day.

Sultan's Ascend announcement does not come until mid of 2023, so it's too soon to tell. They released 2 civ in 2022 and 2+4 in 2023, so we should be getting major content this year too, unless they change the pattern.

I enjoy the time frame. It is interesting. I do think that adding the Americans, and Mexicans as civilizations kind of ruined the immersion a bit for me. They both did not exist in the colonial era. Seeing them coexist alongside the Aztecs for example seems very bizarre to me. I have to pull myself back when I play as either of them. In single-player I tend to not include them as NPCs for that reason. I am happy they are continuing to update it. I am as excited to see the new two civilizations in the game, as I was for the last two. I find it interesting how the game has made it full circle. It started as European powers exploring, and colonizing the new world and fighting one another there, to making its way all the way back to the content in the last expansion and furthering along that path. I love the home city feature / function but being that we now have maps in the old world and expansions dedicated to it, it does seem a little odd. No longer are you requesting material and manpower to a colonial settlement, but you are requesting it on European soil. A little weird to me in the sake of immersion, but I am here for it. I wanted the Italians to be added regardless of their exploration, and colonization relevance. The Maltese I never would have asked for, because I never would have thought to ask. I am however very grateful for their addition. I do not know much about Denmark, or Poland in this time frame. So, I will just sit back and enjoy the ride. Truthfully though, at the moment I am enjoying Age of Empires IV more. I enjoy the time frame. I enjoy the medieval era time frame. I also think that it was done very well in game. The holy relics, and holy sites really do help with the immersion for me. I also love the Wall features, especially when it comes to archers atop them. The landmarks are also a top-notch addition to a game trying to be set in that era. I think that if you were tasked with making an immersive medieval game where you control an army, I think that Age of Empires IV excels. I do however enjoy both. Age of Empires III does have a very important place in my heart.

What I would love for aoe4 is a conquest mode. Maybe im old school, but if theres one thing that really always irked me about aoe4 its landmark rushing. Give us oldtimers the option to choose that away and give us conquest.

landmarks are a bane, it litters the maps with unit-clipping ruins and fixes the game flow into a static game of siege, it's awful. And is the main reason I stopped playing AoE4 and got back to 2 & 3 xD
