Imo I loved that they fixed some things before the tournament. A pro player should be ready for these things and adapt, but they all played great tbh.

Exactly. If they can't adapt they aren't very 'pro'. And it is fair because the patch dropped at the same time for everyone. Also, why deprive the majority of players, who aren't in the tournament, from playing a more balanced game? The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few, just ask Spock.

The game needed the patch. Whether or not the competitors for the tournament paid attention enough to be aware of it has nothing to do with fairness..

It needed a patch but not one that completely changes everything a day before, it wasnt just one patch, it was two different patches. The 2nd patch wasnt even applied to the live game.

If tourney organizers weren't dented they could have just played on old patch like any serious competitive game

You have no idea what you're talking about, we're not talking about the live patch they gave 1 day before the tournament. We're talking about a SECOND PATCH NOT EVEN OUT YET, that came on the day of the tourney for anyone not involved in playtesting.

I disagree. You all complain you do not see Oranos or Atlanteans that often and then complain when they get buffed. I know it was near the beginning of the tourney, which was not optimal but you cannot talk about the W of the patch changes, and celebrate that it actually improved the balance of the game. No, you can only talk about how it ruined the tourney for you. I guess your glasses are half empty 🙄

Maybe you do not have the reading comprehension to understand what I mean? or maybe you cannot find the words to give a clear response on your thoughts on the matter so you opt to throwing random words without knowing what they mean. Love your content, looking forward to every video. Hopefully they are better when it comes to timing moving forward, but if something seems off with how things were done, maybe set aside a block at the start or end for your salt. You said the word unfair a bunch throughout the cast, and it 100% is, but man lol, don't let that annoyance take over the content. Just an observation, cant wait for the next video

ya, they just announced a 15k tournament called retold genesis for october 26! Things will be better there for sure.

@@KeeNGaming Is it really better? Because the live patch is still not caught up with the Tourney patch from ONE WEEK AGO. My guess is that because of xbox and consoles which have a. policy for patches to be QA tested by xbox, they will come slow. For example when I joined the tourney with my xbox Mythology Retold, they gave me a steam version of it for free, just so I can enter the "beta" for tournament and play.

Oranos player basically didnt build a single unit that was affected by the buffs to atlanteans. slightly faster skypassages, thats it. Or am I missing something?

There was redbull atlantean buffs as well. A 2nd patch. Arcus, turmas, contarious. More starting wood. All atlantean hero units buffed. And some of the redbull patch changes were false and later crossed out. So players didnt even know and had to test for themselves what was true or not lol

Honestly kinda turn off all the talk for 10 min about redbull. You should be happy that redbull even included retold in redbull. I am sure they probably didn't want to but microsoft wanted it due to sales. As far as fairness if I'm not wrong the seed was determine based on ranking on the original AOM. Also there was a draft so matador had the chance to pick. No offense mista just a better player this was a 3-0 easy win for him. Anyhow lets just be happy that we get a tournament. Very excited to see all the people who talking crap about redbull to host another tournamen with fair rules. Waiting on that annoucement.

Im very happy and grateful they did a tournament, doesnt take away from the fact that it was a terrible experience for the players in this tournament. The seeds were not based off the original aom. It was based off the council (pre-access testers they had access to a 5+ months or longer). It was basically the council choosing council members. Other top players didnt have access even though some of them were better in the original aom than the council members. Nothing was fair about this. I had to mention this at least in the first video, the other videos I dont talk about it. Its super unfair and every top player that played in this tournament knows it. Even the redbull staff admitted this was a very bad situation for the players.

@@KeeNGaming We can talk about this all day. All I will say is again RedBull basically got forced to add all the games in the tournament. The tournament was announced before the game came out so the expectation of this being a FAIR and competitive tournament was ZERO. Atleast to anyone with common sense. Players are welcome to NOT go through the TERRIBLE experience or go play AOE2 which the whole tournament is made for (the prizepool is double the prize pool of the combined 3 other games!). Yeah, it sucks for the other games but at the end of the day its simple business. AOE2 just have much more viewer base. If AOM views do good I'm sure next year Redbull will make an actual tournament that competitive. For now its basically w/e they could put together for 10k.

@@herotalib9556 For sure. But microsoft doing 2 patches right before the tournament changing up the game this much is something that should have not happend. The tournament would have actually been quite fair without such big changes right before.

@@KeeNGaming I don’t really see how the tourney was that unfair? The 4 seeded players were the best and deserved to be on opposite sides of the bracket. They only skipped the bs best of 1. Also magic said that he wasn’t allowed to play ranked ladder and would have preferred to do that as preparation. The patch changing a day before actually made the tourney more fair since it took away a lot of the advantage the play testers had. It also debunks your claim that they can hide strategies when the new patch basically changes everything. Only issue I had with the tourney was the over complicated map and god picking and the banning of a players best god. I have no issue with you complaining about red bull like the other guy I just think tourney wasn’t really that unfair. Also it was basically just a tourney to promote the game which I think it’s done a good job of. It wasn’t meant to decide the best player even though imo the two best players right now are in the final. We won’t know who the real best player is until 3-6 months maybe even a year. We need a full season. Anyway great channel I really like your videos they help a lot.

Attys were massively underperforming so the buffs were necessary. I think it's a bit exaggerative to say the entire game is different and flipped upside down, "OMG attys are OP". But I also think it's naive to act like nothing changed from a patch the literal day before

Agree completely with you in terms of giving players free seed and last minute patch. Really lame. Also, aren't players that playtested the game forbiden to play on RBW?

Unfortunately testers were allowed to compete :/ Currently out of the top 8 thats left. Only vortix grass and kimo werent playtesters. Which makes it extremely impressive they made it this far!

@@SethWinham-xf9pr Nah tahts no true, there was another redbull patch on the morning of the tournament day like 4 hours before it started. They had to download a seperate patch where atlantean got buffed like crazy. It was 2 patches in 2 days completely changing the meta.
