I spent much of my time as a child throwing crickets in the webs of the labyrinth spider. I grew up in east Texas on a farm, these spiders were everywhere. Such a cool spider

Love it that you're guiding our eyes not only at the large and exotic spiders from overseas, but also at the wonders we have at home. Sure, here on continental europe it's slightly different ones than with you in GB, but there's a lot of cuties to behold: large Tegenaria atrica I see at work everyday, or my favourite, the incredibly cute Salticus scenicus. Sometimes, you don't need to venture far!

I've found this spider on heathlands in Surrey where the webs are close to ground level. On one occasion I watched a spider hunting wasp enter the spider's labyrinth nest through the 'front door'. About 20 seconds later the wasp re-emerged without spider, and I saw the spider exiting from a different part of it's extensive web.I've also seen (a young) one tackling a honey bee, very similar to the one in the video tackling the house cricket ... go for it, back-off, go for it, and in the end the bee managed to struggle free and escape (though whether it lived afterwards depends on whether the spider managed to get in a bite).Fascinating to watch

@@MarksTarantulas1980 I dropped one of my roach babies as bait, when it came out of its little labyrinth I carefully used my tongs to pick it up and put it In a new home. Very similar in habits, body and coloring to the grass spiders which are very common in the US Midwest. They are equally at home in nature and along human-made structures such as fences, windows, anywhere they can weave their retreats. The markings on the abdomen are different - two stripes where your sweetie has sort of a herringbone-like pattern.

during spring especially May agelenas are covering grassfileds and are little ones and there can be seen as decades nests existing on fields (especally in the morning sun as reflect them) bulding their webs being very active to construct it and feed. During the summer they grow very big and become adults being less active and more suspicious to all kings of vibrations - of course not all grow but the ones not endangered to open air fields well protected - therefore most adult nests are beneath olive trees sometimes on their branches , close to bushes - their characteristic is the fish bone on their back - very essential to agriculture as it reduces grashoppers population
