Agent Orange was the first punk band of any kind from outside of Hawaii to play in Hawaii. December 1982 at the 3D club in Waikiki. Somehow our friend Jonee Kop knew the singer/guitar player Mike. We all went skateboarding with Mike at our local spot Wallos. He said he would put us on the guest list for the first show. But then the club wanted IDs for people on the guest list. We were only 17 years old, and at that time you had to be 18 to drink and go to clubs. Mike said don't worry, just show up. The night of the show Mike and the drummer Scott (?) opened a side door and let us sneak in. Great show

Anyone else here because these guys claimed The Offspring stole the famous riff in Come Out and Play from this song? I have no particular love for The Offspring and I was fully prepared to side with Agent Orange, but after hearing BloodStains, it's pretty obvious such a claim is ridiculous. There's a faint similarity between the solo here and the riff in Come Out and Play, but no way would any jury ever agree with a claim of copyright infringement. Maybe that's why Agent Orange never actually sued The Offspring. This is a great song though.

Joey Rollins Silly me, wanting to have a meaningful discussion in the comments section of a KZbin video. Joey, since you're the only one who bothered to write a remotely coherent response, I'll reply to you. Do you mean the solo towards the end? Like I said, there is a noticeable similarity between the solo and the riff in Come Out and Play, but would you really claim that it is anywhere near identical?
@Indonesiansurftravel5 жыл бұрын
They just sound similar as based on a middle eastern scale, sorry I don't know the name but someone that knows about music theory etc would be able to tell us.
@drewrocker99345 жыл бұрын
TSOL and Agent Orange were very influential on Noodles of the Offspring's guitar stylings. There are similarities on the lead and "Come out and play" but I don't think it's a direct total rip off. Just my opinion. Noodle's should get Mike Palm some free guitars and amps sponsorships for the inspirations though.

+Barry Kuz Nah, Minor Threat is not overrated at all. They formed an entire movement basically, and their music is still pretty influential. I'll admit though, I am biased. I grew up around the D.C. Metropolitan area and did experience a lot of Hardcore from it, but I would say that it is hard to really judge if you haven't actually experienced them in person.
@Jonny2guns19849 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Medina that band started a counter culture to the counter culture. Ian lyrics are simplistic and brilliant, all written before the age of 20. Not to mention all the bands that they inspired, released and brought attention to, all the while being key factors to the creation of the DC punk scene, which wouldn't have even had a venue to play at or see out of town acts without minor threat. All the while living the DIY lifestyle to the fullest inspiring others to do the same. Overrated isn't exactly the term I would use.
