It’s just that in the past 6-7 decades it has been reported on so we have started hearing about the drug use because of the news and the internet/social media, but before technology there were still people doing drugs. Back in the 1800’s people were using cocaine/cocaine gum and heroin, they literally had heroin in a bottle and it was sold in stores.

If you have a felony on you’re record or have a charge that omits you from buying a gun the from comes back with a giant X on the application. Then to boot if the shop owners feel you’re suspicious they can refuse the right to sell. It’s not that hard if you can legally buy a firearm with all the background check then you can carry it open or concealed it in the car or in the home. It’s still gets logged but you can have it
