In this video, we take a look at how to level Gaige the Mechromancer during UVHM in Borderlands 2. We go over how to level Gaige, the skills to spec into, bosses to farm for xp and items, end game gear, and general progression of uvhm. We show off the final level 80 build and then talk about some good gear to farm at the end of the video.

Quick note about Tubby farming. An easy method was found recently by going through the mission Claptocurrency in Fight for Sanctuary. Progress through the mission as normal until you get the objective to turn in the BECHO wafers to Claptrap. Don’t turn them in! During this time, you will get three guaranteed elemental spiderants that spawn near the end of the drill tracks. This is notable since elemental spiderants have a 1/31 chance to become a Tubby enemy. You can easily farm this by fast traveling to the Mount Scarab Research Center, and leaving out of the exit to the Dahl Abandon.

The path leading to Sully the Blacksmith in the Halloween HH is better as there are 4 elemental spawns as well as 6 regular spawns so you have that extra spawn pool.

Wonderful series. Helped me out a whole lot. One thing I would like to add is that if you're not careful, your gear may become so under leveled that it's a hassle to farm for new stuff (happened to me as I had a friend carry me through half the dlcs) however this can be quickly remedied by opening the golden chest in sanctuary or getting a lascaux from the pool of water in Frostburn Canyon. This is of course assuming that you don't have access to the chest in the writhing deep.

Glad it helped! Using underleveled gear for too long is a very common issue, especially on Gaige because you don't realize how ineffective the gear is until you lose all your Anarachy stacks, and the only way to get stacks back when you have none is to kill things with underleveled gear. The Lascaux is definitely a solid choice, especially on Gaige

This guide is ESSENTIAL. I've been struggling to find the balance between damage and regen capability with gaige like crazy. Currently tvhm, level 50. Have yet to go into heros end, had to farm hellquist for a bee literally 500 times just to get a bee shield under level. I haven't been following this guide to the letter, and if I had been, other than pre stacking, this would be pretty much an easy (kinda?) OP10

It is possible to redo mission on ps4: 1. upload crosssave 2. take mission and finish it(could do dashboard trick) 3. put reward in secret stash and save 4. download crosssave and overwrite

Theres also the hidden synergy between Gaige and ricocheting bullets. If the guns shes using already ricochets, it can benefit from the Close Enough auto target without damage penalty

Hey thanks for the guide, it helped me finally reach max level! But i have a suggestion for the skill tree i found more useful: Don't put 5 points into 20% cooler right away, i put 4 in then 1 in upshot robot (or upshot robot first whatever your preference is), Sharing is caring (or strength of five gorillas) and put the last skill point to finish 20% cooler, because 1 point in upshot robot, sharing is caring and strength of 5 gorillas (because the classmod puts it at 6/5) is worth more than the last point of 20% cooler

She was the first character i made. Once i got to uvhm i gave up after i couldnt get past flint. It took me a long time to really get back into using her again. But now that i decided to bite the bullet and just go with it. Run for these farms and switch around my build, im happy to play her again. Thank you.

Thanks man, literally did full uvhm with bee+slag+fibber+ sceriff badge. My recommendations are: Get as soon as possible the ability to extend deathtrap time, it’s essential. To lv up to 72 use moonshot uvhm. Nothing is better than that. After lv72 don’t just farm 1 fibber but every single element one by using claptrap stash glitch

First let me say thanks for putting up with all my comments and questions! One request for the next (or future) video - Inventory management tips (both for the Gaige guide and in general), what you "need" to carry and what you don't. I don't /think/ I'm a hoarder, per se, but I carry wayyy too much stuff, and yet feel like I should have it for situational purposes (particularly since, as you say in this video, how in UVHM it's important to have all the various elemental weapons and relics to maximize damage - and yet I pretty much still just use Grog+Fibber, so maybe I'm not so great at taking advice hehe). In the end, though, I have trouble looting due to lack of space. I can probably get rid of some lower-level legendaries in my bank, but that doesn't help with the backpack (and SDUs for the backpack are getting eridium-pricey). Maybe there is a "tiny house" way to live in BL2 that I can't seem to achieve? I generally try to limit myself to whichever weapon I have with the highest DPS for each particular element (regardless of weapon type), a single launcher (regardless of element), etc, but still tend to carry every sniper type, and also still have more than one slagger between the Pimpernel and Grog Nozzle and Slagga... Anyway, some good housekeeping tips would be appreciated just as much as the leveling tips!

There's a way to get Eridium quickly to get those backpack & bank spaces that I'm going to cover in the Digi Peak video. You want to go to normal mode and complete the Tina DLC and fight the raid boss there. It will give you 70ish eridium per kill. It should be easy to get 500 eridium using this method. As far as what gear to keep, it really depends on what you like using. You can have a max of 39 backpack spaces & 24 bank spaces, but that might not seem like enough. When you have a full backpack space and get a mission reward, it will put your capacity over by one. If you equip that mission reward when you get a drop, you can equip the drop and drop the mission reward. It's a little trick that you can do to give yourself more backpack space.

3:38 There is a way to farm multiple quest rewards without resetting playthrough on console but it's not as efficient as read only farming on PC. This method is tedious and time consuming. I'll put a step by step guide below for those wondering. Prerequisites: Complete the "Claptrap's Secret Stash" mission. Just makes so you can drop off things in Sanctuary. 1. Complete mission until you can turn it in but DO NOT turn it in. Save and Quit. 2. Go to main menu and click Cross-save and upload your Character. 3. Turn in mission, if Garbage go to 4a, if Awesome 4b. 4a. Go back to Main Menu and download Character and confirm Overwrite then reupload character again right after. Repeat Step 3 or if done farming do not upload character. 4b. Go to Sanctuary and deposit it in Claptraps bank. Save Quit and fallow 4a. If you run out of room in Claptraps Bank then feel free to pull from another characters inventory. Just make sure to switch back to your original character you were farming on.

deathsoal does the quest scale up in lvl while its waiting to be turned in? So you could do all the quests with rewards worth it, to that point and turn it in everytime the weapen gets outleveld. That would be easy fast farms.

You can farm quest rewards multiple times on console btw. K6 has a video on it, but you add a split screen character, reset badass rank on main character before turning in the quest to trigger an autosave, take the quest reward, drop it to the second character, have the second character pick it up, save and quit (stay close together, so you don't go to a new area and autosave) and then dashboard on the main character by pressing xbox or ps4 button and force quitting the game :) PS4 has a faster way as well I think, but this way works on xbox and ps4

Quest items for people with one controller on console: 1.Load in closest to the quest and quit. 2.Go to cross save and upload your character. 3. Download the character. 4. Repeat 2 and 3 until downloading a character screen starts loading slowly. 5. Making sure to always have one file untouch, load in each file go turn in the quest until you get the version of the item you want, deleting them along the way. 6. trade them over using the stash. You can use only two save files and dashboard instead of making a bunch and deleting, but some consoles (mines) take forever to open the blands.

15:35 Sooo I went ahead and farmed Bones of the Ancients at that point in the video (each element, took a few hours, and I know I'll have to do it again later, but it was a way to pass the time, at least, and got a couple levels, now 58; also holding onto a Heart of the Ancients, since it seems like the perfect Second Wind item with bonus launcher damage, FFYL time, and SW Health). Time to hit the story! I guess? At least up to the Clan War farm? (You don't explicitly say to do that next, this video seemed more informational than procedural, didn't quite have a "do this, now do this next" feel, but I'm inferring it to be "farm this gear, now go grind XP to 80.") Jonesing for the next video!

This video is meant to allow more freedom on the way to max level than the first two had. There's a lot more you can do because everything scales to your level, whereas you have to adhere to the level scaling of quests & items in normal & tvhm. So I presented a bunch of options to farm, but these aren't meant to be the only things you can do. It's really more of "what will make you go the least insane on the way to level 80". Because it's a grind no matter what. If you wanted to run through the story a couple of times by resetting, you could, but this closes a bunch of farms so I tend to avoid it. The only thing I would avoid doing is the last story mission if you ever want a conference call, because it's a lot easier to farm with the moonshot method and you can't do that if you complete the quest.

This video is concise, simple, clean, and extremely well edited. Your voice alone is this strange combo of soothing, informative and reassuring. You were made to do this. Lol. Thanks for posting this! Unfortunately this guide is largely problematic, especially with your skill load outs and "good for Gaige" farming. People should ALWAYS be slagging in UVHM especially with Gaige, and you can't stress that enough. Your gear recommendations while accurate are far too limited. There are tons of weapons in this game and many of them are fantastic with Gaige. The Fibber/Bee combo is something I really wish people would avoid especially if they're earlier players. It's the equivalent of the Grog/Harold combo with Sal as people believe it's the end all automatic win with the character. Also some gear that is extremely powerful with Gaige that I think you missed in thid video are as follows The Pitchfork, The Storm, The Twister, The Bekah, The Hammer Buster, Sledges Shotgun, The Octo, The Bitch, The Longbow, The Yellowjacket and many many more. Lastly I'm pretty sure this guide is for newer players so the best advice you could give them is to avoid using The Grog Nozzle and maybe switch to a Rubi. It will wind up becoming a crutch and prevent them from learning to play this a little more effectively. Mostly just point newer players, or really anyone in the direction of the forums. There is tons of information there and it goes in depth on different ways to play, especially with Gaige. Because of all the characters in the game I think between her and Sal are the LEAST understood even by some veteran community members. Either way this was an amazing video, and I really look forward to following the series. Hopefully some the stuff I mentioned above pops up in later videos since you even said that the gear you mentioned isn't all the stuff you want to talk about. Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to cover a lot more gear including a lot of the weapons you mention, but I just got overwhelmed by the amount that I could've covered. I could've gone on for another hour on gear, but I wanted to keep it to a surface level and get people farming for items that are easier to obtain, instead of things like a Twister or a Bekah which are really strong on Gaige but take more time to get. As you say, this is more focused towards newer players and helping them survive UVHM. I don't think it's a bad idea to recommend things like the fibber/bee and the grog because people have to start somewhere. UVHM can hard when you do it for the first time and I get a lot of comments from people saying that they're struggling with Gaige. I'm just trying to make their lives easier. Ideally, I'd love for people to use that stuff just to get comfortable playing in UVHM and then start experimenting with other stuff outside of it, but it can be tough to break away when you realize how powerful and easy a fibber/bee combo can be. People on youtube don't really help when everyone says that Gaige has to use a fibber & bee or shamfleet to get through UVHM. But I think people who don't want to do those will seek out sources like the forums for more info on other builds. Others will be okay with it and that's fine because it's all about having fun in the end. And personally I'm not a fan of how reliant on Moxxi weapons most players are, including myself. I think it's a bad mechanic that I hope won't be in BL3. I do encourage trying different things because I'm a big fan of build diversity, but trying to cover multiple builds/playstyles in a video like this is daunting. As far as the forums go, I browse them now and again, but I don't have an active account. I might be more active there once BL3 comes out.

As far as the recommended gear goes, I completely understand. Lol. There's so much gear shes good with so it could definitely be a large task to try to include it all. Maybe split it up by class so it's not so much at once. For examples you could do assault rifles in one video, SMGs in another and so forth. I can’t remember if you’ve mentioned this in a previous video, but if you’re on PC you can use your stash at Sanctuary to hold any weapons you want to keep, but can only be done on PC as the Stash is classified as a different save file. So this way you can farm for 2 Fibbers/ Pimpernel or whatever and have different elements. This can also allow you to get the weapon but not complete the mission so you can farm for weapons whenever you want and still be able to get them without having to restart your playthrough, which is very handy for OP levels.

I mentioned there was a way on PC to do this with the stash but I wanted to keep this guide system neutral because I wasn't sure how a similar method would be done on console. I encourage people to use the stash this way because quest reward farming sucks!

I like your guide, I get that it’s a speed run type guide where you focus more on reaching level cap and also not going for legendary gear too early. Most people new to the game fall for the trap of raiding early and then the gear becoming obsolete. This guide keeps you from falling into early raids and gets you through uvhm. One thing I am stuck on is when to continue main story on uvhm. I went up to go to frost burn to look for the Firehawk but became hesitant cause saw the Lascaux smg for that area mentioned as a good smg. I didn’t know whether that would be the best time to xp farm seeing as it would eventually become obsolete in uvhm if you and enemies are still leveling. Plus resetting the game that early is better than later. I could do; the good, the bad and the Mordecai on TVHM. It would be a level 50 relic, but I think it saves a reset on uvhm so as to not go further into story only to get a slight increase in xp bonus. The Borderlands wiki has the increase variant chart. It’s called Moxxi’s Endowment, if anyone is interested in seeing variant charts. I even became picky on weapon parts, but Lascaux is weird one to try to get almost all Dahl parts on cause it’s bandit barrel is it’s main part and burst fire with it is kind of hilarious to me cause it spews out so many rounds per burst and it’s pointless cause it is like a shotgun blast thus why it’s good for Gaige. Testing it in the frost burn cave was a real treat lol. I played on Xbox 360 now playing The Handsome Collection PS4.

The Lascaux will always be there so you can pick one up every level if you wanted to. You don't have to reset to get a new one as it's not a one time spawn. Getting Moxxi's endowment isn't a bad idea in TVHM. The exp difference between a level 60 one and a higher level one won't be that significant.

Agent Lomax I wasn’t sure on the Lascaux never really used it on other characters (not even Maya). I forgot all about it till you mentioned it. This is my first time using Gaige, I used to just stick with Maya even though her action skill isn’t the best. She seemed easier to know what to focus on since you mostly use SMGs with her and most Assault Rifles are terrible for elemental dot having the lowest elemental chance with only a few exceptions. I finally am branching out and learning more how to use other characters like Salvador, Zero, and Gaige. Salvador is probably the easiest to solo many boss types, but it took me a while to get used to his height especially when you go from Zero being the tallest to him being the shortest. I felt like I was in the land of the giants when it came to his eye level with npcs lol. I only have him in the 50s probably work on him after Gaige has reached op levels. His skill tree is probably the easiest to figure out. I think he makes things too easy at times with having regeneration to ammo and health.

QUEST FARMING IS POSSIBLE ON CONSOLE create an auto save like normal before you try to get a reward, if it's not the reward you want, close the game out from your consoles home screen and then open the game back up. If you save and quit, you will make a new instance that can not be farmed. YOU CAN ONLY DO PICK ONE ITEM. You cannot get multiple instances of an item or get multiple rewards of a quest item. This is helpful when you want a very specific roll for any weapon in the game.

Also a tip for people on ps4, for mission farming items let’s say fiber for example, do all the missions until you get to the last one, do not accept it, and whenever you need a new one go to your main menu and dupe your character(crosssave) and do the last mission and dashboard farm whatever fibber you want, get it, put it in your safe, delete that character, go to your original one and pick up the fibber from your safe with the mission still available for when you need another one at a higher level without having to reset the story, hope this helped

Not sure if he mentioned this but you can get ez xp with the moonshot glitch, it also gives you conference call which is good on gaige, you can dashboard farm the butt elation pony for conference call as well

If you end up farming a slag pimp in TVHM, also make sure to grab the mission Grendel since the reward is a choice between one of two 6/5 COMs. Getting back to the board can take a bit of time, but it's a great way to get a +6 Prodigy/Punk/Sweetheart COM. Honestly, it's just a great way to get a +6 COM in general.

Console can use the stash to farm quest items too. It involves the cross play feature in which you can upload your character before you turn in the quest then downloading it once you put it in the stash

So if you find your save file on your computer, you right click it and click on Properties. In the properties menu, there will be a check box next to read-only. Check it off to turn read only on. Then your game will be unable to be saved until it is unchecked. The only thing you have to do is reselect your character when you save & quit, but other than that you should be good to read only farm. If this doesn't make sense, there are multiple videos out there that can show you exactly how to do it.

A couple days later and I'm happy to say I am doing MUCH better in UVHM after watching this series. I was stuck on Dam Fine Rescue before, and after watching parts 1-3 and redoing my build for anarchy, I was able to make it through. I did have to get Roland from the Friendship Gulag because I could beat the constructor at the dam, but I was able to save him eventually. Question about the video: what causes the explosion of loot including a bunch of legendaries at 2:25?

For tina class mods, I would also add train chest farm as it drops not only them, but also has a chance to drop other legendary class mods as well as really good gear, like topneaa, or pbfg, etc.

On console before accepting the qeust upload your save to the cloud than do the quest after you get the item you want put it in your stach.then download the save from the cloud and play on that char further that’s how you farm multiple of the same quest on different lvls

I don't know for PC, but in XBOX, you can use a 2nd controller to "glitch" the game and redeem a quest reward infinite times, that way you can farm 2 or 3 of any equip by duplicating it.

@@agentlomax The farm spots would be a lot harder, I recently replayed through TPS and they didn't have as many clearly high mark exp targets as BL2 has. They also don't have as many spots where you can spawn in or even fast travel and land next to targets you can farm for legends, maybe it was just unlucky but I barely found any legends through multiple play throughs so I didn't find it as enjoyable as BL2. Lastly for achievement hunters (only playing the game to mark off the achievements) in TPS there is no reason to go to UVHM as the only raid boss is quite easy compared to BL2 where Terra is level 52+ so not doing UVHM means he will be at an advantage, much easier to beat Terra if you can be same or higher level and UVHM is leagues of experience more than farming anything in TVHM in BL2.

A way to do “read only farming” on console requires 2 controllers. Make sure before accepting the reward you have both controllers in the game. The 2nd controller needs to be a actual account. The main controller will then do a force save by activating BAR and deactivating it. Once this step is done you can gather your quest reward on your main account and drop it to your 2nd account. You then want to leave on the 2nd account by save quitting, leaving you to then dashboard on your main account. This is the most effective way on console to farm things like good lady fist, pimpernel, sand hawk, etc.

The heart breaker is a good one to pick up at the end of TVHM after you beat the Warrior. Couple that with a turtle shield & transfusion grenades and you are very hard to kill. If you need something with corrosive damage, the Hornet is an easy pickup. I'd run UVHM with a slagging weapon (not necessarily a grog, a slagga would be fine), the heart breaker, either the fibber or the unkempt harold depending on the situation, and then a rocket launcher in the last slot for second winding. Then a turtle shield with blood soaked shields.

I had been farming Mick Zaford for XP, but found that the Hodunk boss gives just as much XP and is easier to hit with a Fastball because he rarely moves from his spot before you throw from across the other side after slagging (plus he's huge, so an even easier target), while Mick runs around like crazy and often takes more than one grenade to manage a hit (at least for me, practice makes perfect, I guess!). The Hodunk boss is only a slightly further turn around, and he also often drops 2 grenades to help replenish, while Mick never seems to drop more than 1 (and sometimes none). Basically, I'll farm Mick for a new Maggie for the level, then farm the Hodunk boss for the rest of the level. When the Fastball no longer one-hits them, that's when I know to refarm the Fastball (and usually go ahead and do the Harold, Hydra, PBFG/Topneaa, as well; Boll and Savage Lee give comparable XP to Mick and Hodunk, too, and the travel time to them isn't much worse than a game reload anyway). On another subject, I hear that Tubby Varkids in Caustic Caverns are more likely to spawn than Tubby Skags in Badlands. I'm 70 now, so might be time for me to get that Legendary Anarchist mod. Caustic Caverns is open now at this point in the story, whereas you have to get practically to the end to reach Badlands. Thoughts?

For tubbies, I'd say it depends on what system you're on. Tubby skags in the badlands is the fastest on PC. All you do is run towards the fence between the spawn & saturn & you want to make sure you spawn in at the Arid boneyard entrance and not the fast travel. There's about 13 skags that can spawn and you can do a run in 30 seconds or less. You'll probably see about one tubby every 10 minutes. On console, I'm not sure what the fastest is, but I've heard the creature slaughter dome is a good one. I think there is a round with guaranteed badass spiderants, might be round 1. Otherwise the whole length of the arid badlands might be the way to go. You can try varkids if you want, I'm just not sure how fast it is.

FYI - Uranusbot will drop ALL legendary coms. You don't need to just farm tubbies. While leveling from 72-80, I started farming Uranusbot, and started getting legendary com drops. Eventually, I actually went back and farmed him on TVHM. This allows you to basically one shot him and then grab gear for characters right around level 50 (where TVHM maxes out). Great way to outfit them with high level gear as they go into UVHM.

Question two: Pimpernel farm. You mention resetting. If I understand correctly you farm it in TVHM, then (optionally) again at the start of UVHM (go straight to it from Claptrap's House fast-travel?), then reset UVHM so you can do it a third time later (I assume for the purpose of getting one that is closer to your later level)?

Yes. That way you aren't resetting all your main story progress. There are ways to get multiple versions in TVHM and they vary depending on what system you are on. A couple people here have commented how for different systems

3:40 Its pretty easy with console man, you just need a second controller/player, make sure you autosave before taking the quest reward by deactivating and activating again the badass levels( this will ensure that no autosaving will happen for atleast some time),take the reward, give it to the second player and save and quit with that player, then get out of the game without saving and repeat my friend.You will still have the unclaimed reward and the reward on the second player

@Agent Lomax. Damn, I'm really underprepared for the last section of Fight for Sanctuary following this guide. Was doing at least mediocre in FFS until this section. But now at level 55 with level 50 Bee, Fibber, Harold and Pimpernel I am simply no match for level 55 soldiers. Have died like 30 times getting the few hundred feet from Roxxy's to the entrance to the final boss fight. I don't even want to think what that boss fight would be like (always thought it was harder than anything other than RAID bosses). Gave it up and had to fight my way back to a fast travel station just to go back and farm up some on level weapons or something. This is my fifth character to take into UHVM and if Gaige isn't better than this with additional skills at later levels then I don't want to play her anyway. I had nothing like this much trouble with Maya, Zero, Sal or even Axton, although I always did FFS last at closer to level 65-70. Are you sure doing FFS this early is best?

OK, leveled up myself, the Pimpernel, Harold and Bee. At 57 managed to do it, although with a turtle shield instead of the bee. Died probably 25 times in the Hector fight, but its done. Spamming a stormfront with the grog in hand is what got me through it. I do NOT like Gaige for FFS. Massively underpowered versus the other characters.

OK, in fairness to Guige, she does get much better. But, you have to switch away from using the Bee. That shield is alright at a distance during times of low Anarchy such as farming, but it is worse than useless during most of the other times. Instead, get a Turtle shield (or the recommended Black Hole) and rapidly fire the Grog Nozzle as you attempt to get right in an enemy's face. Then, rapidly switch to something like the Conference Call or the Harold to finish them off and immediately switch back to the Grog. Rinse and repeat. Somewhere above about 100 Anarchy stacks you become pretty invincible using this strategy.

Not meaning to spam you, but I'm going to post separate question topics into their own threads. :) First question: I'm curious, how well does the Fibber richochet synergize with Gaige's other related skills (e.g. Close Enough and Nth Degree)? Does Close Enough help ensure the 9 bullets will hit if you're a little off shooting the ground in front of them for the gun's regular ricochet to hit? Similarly, will Nth Degree cause a second ricochet of any of those bullets to another nearby target? Thanks!

Close enough will give the fibber a 50% chance to hit an enemy. The nice thing about the fibber though is that it doesn't get the 50% damage penalty that other guns get. And it works well with the Nth Degree. The way the Nth degree works is that any time you shoot a gun with multiple pellets, all the pellets count towards the n count. So if all 9 pellets hit when your next shot is supposed to get the nth degree bonus, and you have one point spec'd into the skill, it would theoretically proc twice. Once initially and once when all 9 pellets hit. Unless the second one ricochets off of something, I don't think it will shoot another 9 projectiles if that makes sense.

If your on consol another way you can moon shot farm is by having another controller and have that as player 2 and have player 1 save and exit when lilith tells you to call the moon shot the load back in and don't move player 1 but have player 2 moon shot him and get all the loot that you want and then once you feel you have what you want then continue the story then load your characters in and decide on what you want and what you don't

gaige was my first hunter. played to 72 quit then did maya finally sal. doing another gaige after years. for quest rewards on ps4 i have 4 profiles 2 controllers. i load in all 3 others before i complete make sure non are near a save. throw the gun to one and have them leave. i do dashboard quit and reload. boom 4 gun farm

Tip for anyone playing zero, an easy farm to 80 is against bnk3r. Spec B0re, grab any gun within 10 levels of the bnk3r, and shoot its right side (your left) towards its center. Skipping its death animation, you can easily kill it for xp within a minute and twenty seconds.
