As a friend of mine said, Coteaz looks like a first-generation Stormcast. As for Grey Knights, it's been confirmed we'll get a book next year. As for Deathwatch, 4 unique profiles are in agents, and apparently, there will be a way to still field a full DW army using Codex Space Marines.

Well, from what we know, you can, but in a very limited way. Up to 2 kill teams per army (and we also don't know which are even available), up to 2 DW unique characters and no unique DW detachments. Even not clear if you can use Corvus Blackatar in your SM army

It's not as ostentatious or decorated as the old one, no six pack breastplate, the fur/cape should be more like the old one and i prefer the old pose aswell. He just looks way to bare for my liking. To me this looks more like a stormcast conversion than what GW should have made. Also, WHY DOES HE HAVE HAIR!

I would have been 100% hyped for custom inquisitor multipart kits. I just…. I don’t know, I guess I don’t care? Maybe someday I buy a grey knight kit just so I can try it and laugh at psykers joining Templars in battle? I really don’t see a huge incentive for it. And these battleforces are a new low - every box before hand has at least been good for a NEW player to the codex, even if veterans may complain about some of them. These boxes are so low hanging nobody will want them. That said, if I can pick off the malleus one in the bargain bin someday I might.

@BrewM12s Order Xenos - You get Deathwatch, Inquisition, and Starstriders. Sell the Bird and you could sell the Imperial Navigator & Bird guy as well or add them to Inquisitor team roster. Ordo Hereticus - You get Inquisition team, Sisters of Battle Team, and Arbities Team. Sell the tank, and add the leader to Inquisition roster. (You can proxy a few of the Arbities to the Inquistion team with their special rules.) I would ignore the last box with the Grayknights, and 2 Inquistion teams. Not sure what the vehicles sell for, but depending how the boxes are priced, could be a great deal!

Scions and Kasrkins. The Third Edition Daemon Hunters Codex had 'Inquisitioral Storm Troopers' as troops. Up to six squads of Kasrkins in the army. Would have been nice. Hope they do this in the upcoming GK codex. We shall see. Black and red clad Kasrkins would look great.

I genuinely HAVE to say. Valrak, your doing a great service to the Deathwatch community here. You have tried to allay fears, provide insight and help address the controversy GW themselves enabled due to a lack of tackling the rumours about the faction being folded. You have provided more information than GW has, in a much more convenient and respectful timing, so that Deathwatch hobbyists are able to plan their hobby projects and not be taken advantage of by a company who refuses to communicate so that they do not damage their sales of a product they KNOW is about to be made obsolete. GW are a bunch of con artists. GW has acted like an Ostrich until this very article has been posted. Knowing full well that people are buying the faction, but refusing to acknowledge whether the faction has a dedicated, supported future within the hobby. I think from a reputation perspective. They have damaged it? They knowingly were changing a faction to a Deathwatch collectors DETRIMENT. Ignored their customer base when they asked for answers. Then "Surprise, you dont exist as the way you wanted to and the way you were playing before is no more" And expected their fanbase to come up with reasonable answers as to why the faction was vanishing AND had fans shilling on their behalf. Rather than taking responsibility and being an open and honest company. Before people get into the "Well they are a company and need to focus on profit". Thats great when it positively affects you? but when it negatively affects you, why should you care about a companies profit margin when that profit margin doesnt include you? The problem with the idea that DW will get their own supplement is that SoB and GK are listed in the reveal article as Requisitioned units, whereas DW are Retinue units, making me feel like they're fully folded into this codex.

Agree, I think the only change that may exist is that a pdf goes out saying “hey, if your chapter selection is death watch, you can ignore retinue numbers for your deathwatch models”. I think the biggest things people were hoping for, myself especially, were: - Primaris-Scaled Deathwatch Units (Watchmaster, Deathwatch Veterans, Artemis) - Plastic Generic Inquisitor (fully customizable) The Coteaz model isn’t bad, but compared to the old one it really looks mediocre at best. Also, the Community Article confirms Grey Knights will get their own Codex next year. Deathwatch lost theirs permanently it seems.

No other difference is there, and you guys also get a return of a character unit(I know it's not the same as an update, but at least you're getting something).

As someone who mainly paints, I love the Malleus and Xenos boxsets. If they come with a decent discount, it will be a great way to get a nice variety of figures for the Imperium side of things. Wish they had included the callidus assassin instead! I also like the idea of the Deathwatch/Grey Knights distinguishing themselves from the Custodes/Normal Marines by being super elite marines, but which can only be a part of your force. Custodes are all super elites, Grey Knights/Deathwatch are a smidgen better than marines, but, you can't just have a whole army of them effectively. You need to partner in all these other crazy inquisition troops to try and get the job done. Honestly I think it might give back a clarity of identity which both forces have been lacking since the Custodes rocked up Imperial Guard - All mass troops Mechanicus - Some elites, some mass troops Marines - All elites Agents - Some super elites, some mass troops Custodes - All super elites

Honestly, I'm ok with deathwatch kill teams being agents of the imperium as a deathwatch fan. The fluff of the deathwatch has always been that they operate as a small force rather than as an army. The biggest force of deathwatch I've seen in any of the novels I've read has been 3 squads operating together, now if there is a story where a full company sized force is used, then I'd be happy to read it, but it would make sense for them to be a special forces unit that can be sent in alongside your other units.

if you look in the article, Sisters and GK can be takes as Requisitioned units when taking Imperial Agents for another army. SO when taking agents in an imperial army lets say SM at 2k points, we can take 2 Character, 2 Imperial agents units and a unit of Sisters or GK :D so from this perspective no DW will not get their own Codex, but GK will.

You can take the Deathwatch sheets and play them with 'black armoured Space Marines' and next year we are getting the Grey Knights' codex. No need for rumours here and expectations here. Personally I never cared for the Deathwatch and to me they never made sense as a full army, so I 'like' the change from a lore perspective, but naturally I understand frustrations from DW players. Coteaz mini makes me think if I want to get the old model before its gone...

They dropped it this way because this isn’t a new army- it’s a re-org of a few, and if they’d made a spectacle of it, everyone would have complained loudly that it wasn’t new- it was just re-organizing existing units. Also the re-tooled model is an embarrassment. My guess on the models is that AoS just took over for the summer and this is the “bridge box” to keep 40k people on low simmer while AoS continues rollout.

I was actually joking a few hours on Aeldari server that there'd be a surprise Monday reveal of the whole Agents of the Imperium release... I mean... they kind of had to do this in order to make a Summer release. I had previously thought they may wait until a GenCon preview in the beginning of August, but now I think they may try and hold out until the Nova Open at the end (with the AOS Hel Crown event preview dropping online earlier in the month) That's a long time without a preview show. And the article literally talks about how you can use Deathwatch with other Space Marines to play a full Deathwatch army AND confirms Grey Knights coming next year. Seems odd to not also mention a Deathwatch book if that's happening.

The article goes into detail about the Deathwatch and limited detail about Grey Knights. Grey Knights will be getting a codex (officially confirmed ~2025) but Deathwatch will not. Codex: Imperial Agents will house Deathwatch-specific datasheets and is built to be combined with Codex: Space Marines for the purpose of fielding Deathwatch armies.

Im sure Deathwatch will get their own codex. I saw a response to a question by GW saying that " Specific Deathwatch Units" will be able to be used in the Imperial Agents Codex. Meaning the Veterans. Theyre just trying to sell the remaining Deathwatch Vet Sprues before discontinuing them and have DW fully represented by Primaris models. (P.S: I also review the releases on my channel. Check it out if you are interested!)

I believe Valrak is right because we Have the Sisters Codex but they are in the Ordo Hereticus box so we will still have a Deathwatch Codex and a Gray Knights Codex.

Could someone answer this query plz. Was alpha and omega in a dispute on who to be loyal too. The emperor or horus. If its true. It would be interesting if the primarchs are coming back, it would be exciting if the brothers meet up again and see one half of the faction siding for the emperor and other half for chaos. Cival war between the faction.

I thought they may do a Deathwatch codex but not now, spot the difference here "don’t worry Grey Knights players - ...There will be a dedicated Grey Knights Codex on the way next year," against "Those with full Deathwatch Space Marine armies needn’t worry - they can add the Deathwatch-specific units to a Space Marine army of black-clad units like Intercessors and Terminators, melding the strong foundations and Detachments of Codex: Space Marines with themed specialists from Codex: Imperial Agents." no mention of a codex coming.

This is obv a stop gap release until they can decide on whether to refresh Scions or return to traditional Inquisitorial Stormtrooper aesthetic for the refreshed and rescaled “foundational” units for any inquisitorial Army.

Grey Knights get their own codex next year. Deathwatch are agents only, that other armies can bring in as allies.

GW is going to push everything it has for deathwatch and I guarantee you 11th edition deathwatch doesn’t exist anymore in any form

Hope they can take more than that, maybe they will. But I plan to play a rouge trader based army in a sense so seeing the full codex will be great and who know maybe there are some more models they have not shown that are new IDK I am just guessing.
