The Wolves call their LTs Battle Leaders. And the 3 man guard unit sounds like exactly what I suspected after seeing DA Inner Circle Companions and BA Sanguinary Guard: The Wolf Guard are becoming SW "Bladeguard"

that lieutenant would be a Wolf Guard battle leader. These rumours are giving me hope. I was being pessimistic thinking that wolves would continue to slowly dilute into ultramarines with a slightly different shade of blue, but a new wolf priest? finally their own wolf guard battle leader mini? refresh of iconic units? it does bring a smile to my face. I soooo hope they don't get rid of wulfen dreads. And since dreaming is free, hopefully at some point we will get rune priests back

in the past the only way to make the battle leader (still themed for SW) was to take a model from the blood claw/grey hunter/WG kit for regular armour battle leader, a WG termie from the GW termie kit or one of the thunderwolf cavlary models for a battle leader on thunder wolf (unless one wanted Canis ofc). unless one wanted to go for one of the generic LT's but lost the flavour these rumours are hopeful even if they aren't to be trusted. we all dreaded the slow dilution of everything SM becoming different coloured Ultramarines. but Black templars shattered it to an extent and it continued getting shattered with Dark angels and the mediocre Blood angels. we lost the generic un-named rune-/wolf priests only keeping the named priests (Njal and Ulrik) (only one we didn't lose was the iron priest), great that the generic wolf-priest returns space wolves have long been waiting for the return of our wolf priest data sheet. regarding the battle leader see top of my comment, but a bespoke Wolf guard battle leader mini kit we never had one. refresh of our iconic units, dream come true (as long as it's not like Death company). hopefully they treat us nicely. i'm also hoping for the return of the generic runepriest, but also the return of the thunderwolf mounted hq's we've lost and the lone wolf as datasheets and preferably kits for it.

-Saw a comment on here that said Wolfguard becoming the new Bladeguard, highly doubt that'll happen. However, it would be cool to have new options to be outfitted axes and shields or combi-weapons so they can be outfitted to be like Bladeguard or Sternguard. Overall, they'll probably remain the same as they are now with new Primaris goodies. -Still would like to hear more news on Space Wolves Grey Hunter squads. They're the bread and butter of the army. Easy way to do them: bolt rifles, every 2 models close combat/special weapon, and the Wolf Guard leader gets what he wants currently. Blood Claw units can be done easily with upgrade sprues on Assault/Jump Assault Intercessors and Outriders. Same goes with Wolf Scouts, upgrade sprues for Scout units. I know upgrade sprues sound cheap, but I think the current Primaris models named and with what they're equipped with works fine and the poses are good. And it gives GW's work staff more time to work on other Space Wolves units like Thunderwolf Cavalry, Wolfguard Terminators, and other characters (named or unnamed). That's just my opinion, though, but I would like to see a complete Space Wolves range done much sooner rather than later. -Death Corp of Krieg, I can expect it mainly being infantry, which is fine. I don't think it's necessary, for them, to have their own vehicles, at this moment in time. Just pump out the bulk of the army first then worry about other units later (we still have Catachans, and, honestly, THEY should have been done FIRST before Krieg, imo). -Eldar should be given their refresh as the narrative moves along. Even though I am in no way, shape, or form a Craftworld Eldar fan (I actually respect the Dark Eldar more than these guys), it would be good to finally see their models updated because they are WAY overdue for an update. -Chaos Space Marines, I think, just need their bikes and Terminators refreshed, I think, right? Other than freaking releasing Obliterators and MAYBE Mutilators (and new Helbrutes wouldn't hurt), but beyond that, I don't think much else. Something missing? -Emperor's Children should get a good release: Noise Marines, a specialized Marine unit, 2 types of cultist units, maybe a daemon engine here and there, Lucius The Eternal, and a generic EC Lord. New stuff wouldn't hurt, so long as this army's fleshed out with plenty of flavor. -Would like to see Fulgrim in all his glory. He probably won't the bulkiest, but if they made him long and tall with an awesome dynamic pose, I may consider starting an EC army because of it. Another character I'd like to see return is Commisar Yarrick. He's way too popular of a character to kill off and him coming back because of what we're hearing about potential 11th ed rumors with the Orks, so it would make sense for him to return. The big one for me is the return of Leman Russ. BRING ON THE WOLF KING!!!

I'm not even sure it's an issue created by the designers but rather GW's goal to appeal to a younger audience by watering down the grimdark when it's in fact the grimdark which appeals to most.

Yeah! New Blood Claws! - Assault Intersessors with new shoulder pads and a wolf tail to stick to it! Yeah! New Grey Hunters! - Intersessors with new shoulder pads and a wolf tail to stick to it! Yeah! New Wolf Guad! - A terminator torso, shoulder pads and tights armor + a frost weapon and half a storm bolter! ... I am sure we are only getting the characters redone + lieutenant.... if things are really crazy we might get the terminators redone... but for now I expect just the upgrade kits and primaris boxes.

@Battlefang hopefully it is better, but going by gw standards with reveals and hyping everything up, i dont think it will be that amazing. I think space wolves will get some amazing characters but units wise i think it will just be like the blood angels and dark angels. Be strange that they give more specialised units to one faction compared to the others ones that are just as important. I think its going to be a 3 man unit, speical characters and a upgrade sprue. If they get more great but im just not getting my hopes up for it

I think Space Wolves stuff blends well with Chaos kits, outside of specifically wolf minis. So, if you run Chaos Space Marines, all the fur pieces and angry shouty faces are an additional nice touch. Also, one of the few places GW might put chain/power axes outside of Chaos kits

You _can't_ be calling yourself an emperor of anything in earshot of *THE* Emperor, that's how you get a Monarchia razed. It triggers his PTSD from the time he was The Highlander from the Age of Mankind. Battle Leader, at least that's what they called the old lefftennant I think they could add some weapons and heads to the existing outrider kit to make a veterans squad, cheekily add a space wolf upgrade sprue for the new release, and make a lot of people happy

The Iron Hands got an ultra upgrade kit before Space Wolves. I hope the IH get some new units, but the SW need one the most as just painting them ice blue doesn't make them look like space vikings. Their current primaris upgrade has 5 non-head bits, they need like 10+ pelts per sprue.

The longer I think about this, the more I think that the Space Wolves will get an extensive upgrade sprue, possibly including an actual wolf, and that the "new Grey Hunters/Blood Claws/Scouts" are just made using those with generic Intercessors, etc.

while it is a possibility. it feels unlikely to happen based on all the other rumours circling around for SW. the rumours point towards a massive refresh so it just feels wrong to turn the grey hunters/blood claws/wolf scouts into their primaris equivalent + upgrade sprue alá Death company style. Updates of the current range sounds good, though there are a couple of models still missing from that list. Something I’d like to see new to the range would be a few more units using Helfrost weapons, like an elite unit or something. I don’t think it will happen but for me personally I’d like a variant of the aggressors with Helfrost and Frost Claws.

That's some big news indeed for Wolves, I'd love new Grey Hunters, he didn't mention about them also being Blood Claws like the old kit was but if they're still a thing I don't think I'd mind kitbashing some primaris sized Blood Claws. I did expect new Wolf Guard Terminators with all the other Termie characters rumored to be refreshed. But the three man Bladeguard-esk unit... that has my attention.

I am getting more and more worried emperors children are gonna be shadowed by space wolves release and eldars , from rumours so far ec don’t look like they’re getting a lot compared to the other 2 armies but ec are meant to be a brand new army you’d think they’d need more out the gate , but so far it’s only a legionaries infantry , noise marines infantry and a blade infantry squad , with a generic lord and fulgrim and Lucius , I think they need some phoenix guard and sonic dreads to really bulk them up as a “emperors children army” not just some extra units but still having to use black legion models to even field them (apologies for the rant)

@ @ yeah that’s just what I’m worried about a half army release then having to wait 1 or 2 editions to get the standard of a regular army , like sisters of battle got a huge release for theirs , but ec only getting 6 things and a just use black legion which no one wants to do and other getting 7+ new things even though they had releases last edition or they have a usually army currently , just doesn’t feel right like with what the current rumours are , just add phoenix terminators , sonic dreadnought , another new hq and let fabius bile into the codex and I’d be happy with that until further releases

My guess is the elite guard will be Wolf Guard updates. As an SW player, I've had some theories for a wile what we'll get. Those 3 epic heroes I've assumed were a given, being all termie. I've also guessed Wolf Guard will be our main updated unit - probably the one you are hearing about. While Blood Claws and Grey Hunters will be like Death Company and be upgrade kits for Assault Intercessors and Normal Intercessors, respectively. Now I have a fear about WG Termies, that would probably be the smarter business move for GW. Basically they'll finally release the Assault Termies and make the WG an upgrade kit. I really hope they are unique models, but do actually get the logic behind doing them that way. As much as I hate it.

@@carlosanton6048 The problem is that Redemptor dreads are the antithesis of Bjorn. Bjorn is a 10k years old veteran, Redemptors burn their pilots extremely quickly. Putting Bjorn in a Redemptor wouldn't make sense

I just hope above all else they give the wolf priest love they deserve. An apothecary chaplain is one the most bad ass units the space marines ever had only barely beaten by dreadnoughts. Chaplains alone are badass, apothecaries are just cool but together looks amazing beyond belief I desperately need them to make it good give them more apothecary bits just please man that model will be insane if they get it right

if SW get a proper update, it really puts what they did to the BA as insult, the character re-does are fine (tho sanguinary preist needs jump pack option), but sanguinary guard look too plain, death company at least need more dculpted details, and dreadnought could have used some of their gear carryed over (magna grapples could have replaced the torso weapon, a re-do of the frag cannon on the gun arm, libarian dread), even more styalised parts for the other kits would ahve been nice on the upgrade sprue which kinda feels lacking comparied to the BT and DA ones

Iconic is a stretch, they came out at the start of 6th edition in the last 2 months of 5th, only about 4 years older than Primaris. They can wait. There are masses of far more iconic SW units.

I'm curious what unit pops into most folks heads more than Thunder Cav when thinking of Space Wolves that hasn't been mentioned and needs it (I don't think we need new Wulfen those models scale nicely with Primaris and aren't that old). The very idea of giant werewolf super soldier vikings in power armor fighting orks in space while riding on giant wolves is perfectly over the top. It sounds like something a 9 year old tweaking on too much sugar would come up with. Besides, we all know at some point World Eaters are gonna get Berserkers on Juggernauts (They also need to make Rubrics on discs) and I want to have a ridiculous cavalry battle between them.

Space Wolves unique units are ironically the last vestiges of the true born tactical/devastators/assault triangle. I doubt GW lets that aspect survive the Primaris Aspect warrior-ization of marines.

I would guess half of this is just rules for units names but not an actual kit instead it will be what you can put on unit with the upgrade sprue like what happened to death company what I expect is for them to remove the dread blood claws & update the wulfen & termies the wulfen is probably that 3 man kit you was mentioning Thunderwolf cav & that flyer will stay it’s a given we will get loads of heroes & a multi part lieutenant but other than that I’m not expecting much especially after the awful blood angels refresh which was just removing a load of stuff & some poor refresh’s

I would like robotic thunderwolves or bikers with thunderwolf gear. Organic mounts are too vulnerable to firearms and shrapnel, and I think a space marine with power armor weights too much and could break thunderwolf spine

Can you use HH models in 40k? Would they be just first born marines then? I ask as I'm really only interested in 40k, BUT would love to paint and use the HH models in battles, etc.

You could before 10th ed but GW decided that fun wasn't allowed anymore and banned all the HH models to Legends. You can still run the regular marines as normal firstborn squad but all the cool stuff like Dreadnoughts and tanks are gone

All of this makes sense and is quite tame compared to what they did introducing Wolfen and Thunderwolf Cavalry - sounds like a nice refresh without too much sacrifice due to the Primaris reimagining. They can lean into the hero/Viking nature for nearly all the stuff mentioned and some gnarled older marines for the scouts and with labelling them Blood Claws and Grey Hunters and slapping an upgrade sprue in make it feel like the Space Wolves are a fleshed out force to be collected From the end of 1st edition to 7th Space Wolves had so much love and extra attention compared to other marine chapters in their model range, they've just had to wait. I always expected it to return to this, they are a hugely popular faction.

Blood claws and grey hunters not too surprising, probably be models roughly same size as Primaris type models. Wolf Guard terminators makes sense too. The Wolf Guard unit though is a bit different but I suppose not massively far off the Lore.
