I understand Barbara Payton’s appeal, but Franchot Tone should have had more sense. And given the inevitability of her infidelity, there was no cause for him to spitefully send photos to studio executives.

All details which, if she were male, would make her an 'Oliver Reed' style cad. She was a fascinating character who deserves sympathy.

She's gorgeous. Add me to the list of men who would have added to her troubles. I'm not really into blondes but some girls have that certain something I can't ever put my finger on but it will drive me crazy if I let it, and I'm gonna say she had it in spades. Pheromones.. a certain look ? A few girls I've met in my life had it. Fast, intensé affairs they were but I'll never forget them. Lol. Always left me a little heartbroken. Seems they were a little broken when we met too!?!? I wanted to fix them. Barbera was broken I imagine. Sad😞

You'd be hard pressed to find a single actress who didn't sleep her way into the movies during the golden age of Hollywood.

🤔 Including Doris Day !. The casting coach was just a fact of life back in those days, for most young actresses. And dare I say afew young male 👨 actors also ........

@@alancrisp1582 More than a few males! Cary Grant and Rock Hudson were discovered when they were working as male prostitutes at gay Hollywood parties..

@@alancrisp1582 and according to some insiders, children too. I think the casting couch never ever went away.

She is from the Minnesota town of Cloquet that my mother was raised in. When she got married to Franchot Tone, my mother and some other relatives of mine sneaked over to the house they were married at in Cloquet to peak through the windows. My mother used to laugh about it.

Barbara Lee Redfield already sounds like a great stage name, why would she change it?

Confused about the ending, as in the beginningbof the video, there was a tragedy alluded to only to be told she simply passed away at her parent's home....?
