Aggression ON or OFF? || Bayonet Training | British Army
The spirit of the Bayonet is the will to meet and destroy the enemy in hand-to-hand combat with the Bayonet. It springs from the fighter's confidence, courage, and grim determination, and is the result of vigorous training. Well done to all the Recruits who has reach this far in training keep pushing-on and strive ahead..
🗣I hope this Video helps to calm your nerves somehow...🤖

It's nice to see that the new breed is keeping up the standards. I had the privilege of commanding basic training courses, phase one and phase two levels. It was one of the most rewarding duties that I performed. I am quite envious. It is now 40 years since I attended my own BTC then at 17 training Regiment RA in Woolwich. The training is much the same today, as are the young soldiers, so i know you will all turn into the best of the best! Keep striving! Well done!

When I did the bayonet range at Harrogate, we ran it through a river, in Northumberland...in the middle of winter, the permanent staff were firing off blanks, dummy grenades and smoke grenades, the adrenaline was through the roof. I would happily do it again in a heartbeat.

@Dominic Easton Are you deaf or just incompetent? They even gave a scenario at the end. They are believed to be the last alive of their unit and have expended all of their ammunition. Obviously anyone with a gun would have a massive advantage over someone with just a bayonet but that's not the point. Bayonets work in many ways, physical and psychological, and have been successfully used recently in places like Afghanistan. (I believe the Royal Marines conducted a bayonet charge at the Taliban successfully, and the paras did in the Falklands.)
@l3gionmusic814
@l3gionmusic814 5 жыл бұрын
@Dominic Easton The answer is yes actually. I would have thought that was obvious giving that I even mentioned instances where bayonets have been used in modern combat. If you go round a corner and come face to face with the enemy and your gun jams, a bayonet gives you that lethality that you would have thought was lost with the gun's failure. You are able to respond immediately and maybe even throw the enemy off if he is not expecting to get rushed. The bayonet is also heavily psychological for both the soldier and the enemy. Stick a bayonet on the end of your rifle and I guarantee you will feel powerful. As for the hostile forces, they will be much more fearful of you if all they can see is glimpses of the troops advancing on their position with bayonets fixed. It means they are ready to close in and kill them any way possible. Multiple Taliban were killed by bayonet (and while they have been confirmed and caught on camera in some instances, there is little to no footage released by the MoD for various reasons). Your time period of 100 years is also a bit ignorant, given that technically still includes the First World War. Bayonets were used massively in WW1, we were even conducting horseback cavalry charges for a while. I would also add that you seem to rely on technology far too much. Good soldiers should prepare for as if everything is going to fail and go wrong, and are left with no other options. I think maybe you should open your eyes and then show a bit more respect to those who choose to serve and give you protection.

I loved bayonet training. I did it with the SLR. 5 kilos of momentum and 1.2 meter range. EN GAURD!! IN!!! OUT!!! VERTICAL BUTTSTROKE!!! SMASH!!! SLASH!!!! GROUND TARGET!!!! EN GAURD!!!! And suddenly you're what the Aussie Army colloquially sort of jokingly called a "trained killer of men". Still a bit sobering.
@ahorsewithnoname643
@ahorsewithnoname643 4 жыл бұрын
It does seem a bit like kids playing soldier with their toy rifles compared to using the SLR. Sounds like you were in before the 556 took over. I had 5 years in before the SLR started disappearing, a nice solid feeling weapon. At least you didn't need to change your grip, as this lot are doing, to stab. You notice the hand has to move to the butt for attacking the ground target, probably better using the entrenching tool.

To clarify just because you are trained to kill,fight,survive it doesnt automatically turn you into a psychopath that cannot integrate back into society. I've been to war & done a fair amount of up close & personal damage to other human beings and I took no pleasure in doing so and after I left the army I haven't felt the urge to batter people who looked at me strange or wanted to commit mass murder. If your referring to PTSD it's not so much it turns you into a killer but more of a guilt thing and not every soldier claiming to have PTSD actually has it. It gets bandied about and used as an excuse no different than celebrities who reckon they suffer from it these days

Interesting to watch the training as it goes on and they build aggression but it's a bit Napoleonic Rank & File. Surprised this hasn't been modernised in some way. Why shout 'en guard'. It's very gentlemenly for a modern world.
