Dad told me about their bayonet attack. The war had just ended his unit, 9 Para were exercising in Germany. His company was hid in brush across a field. A large group of Americans were crossing the field towards them. The company commander said fix bayonets and just as the Americans were about to reach the Paras, they all popped up screaming and charged the Yanks who stopped dead in their tracks then fled back across the field. The only stories Dad ever told me were one like this when they were having “fun”.

Interesting to see how the UK treats their paratroopers. Their training and attitude seems a lot more elite and akin to the US 75th ranger regiment than your average 82nd Airborne unit

Got to love the rivalry lol. I was in the Royal New Zealand Navy. I later moved to the USA and joined the U.S Army as a paratrooper. I had a friend who was air assault (rappelling out of helicopters) we called them a "dope on a rope." We got to train with the British paras and they were great guys. In Bosnia got to interact with Royal Marines and they were awesome lads too.

1:36 - Paras better than the Marines? Hardest training you can do? Royal Marines recruit training is the longest basic modern infantry training programme of any Commonwealth, or NATO combat troops. Any RM unit could quickly become jump capable. Nice to see they let Afghans in now. We we take back our country that will all stop. Didn't work for Rome. Won't work for us. Deus Vult.

Dave Cleary is Soldier F. Another soldier implicated in Bloody Sunday, Costas Georgiou later went on to commit war crimes throughout Angola and was later executed for his brutality. Says something about how rotten to the core the paras are.

On Bloody Sunday the 1st Battalion of Para’s didn’t murder anyone, the Para’s shot IRA gunmen then the demonstrators surrounded the shot gunman and took their weapons away, that dirty trick was rife at that time.

But hey, barracks/bollocks, get this: "Fourteen dead, but not forgotten. We got eighteen, plus Mountbatten. At Warrenpoint they were made to pay, when blown away by the IRA".
