Story; Years ago my Dad went out with our Rough Collie for a walk and climbed over a fence and was in the middle of the pasture when suddenly a Bull saw him and charged my Dad. This Bull was just about to run my Dad down when our Collie went after the Bull and held him off until my Dad running hell bent for leather to the fence and over it. My Dad said he would make sure before he climbed a fence again to make sure what was on the other side first after that. Our Collie had a rib eye steak that night for dinner. LOL

My mom wanted a toy poodle, Susie full grown at 6 pounds was the best cattle dog ever! She kept the cows and bulls away from dad. She was fast and would nip them on their back leg then take off running was her norm or a few times of the front leg. When we moved them to another pasture boy could keep them together and moving. She out lived my parents by a couple of years passed at 14 years.

Our neighbor used to have a blind bull in one herd and a huge younger bull in a separate herd. Eventually the herds combined as a new, smaller herd with a new bull took over the far pasture. But once old man bull and young and tough got their heads pressed together (blind man could hear and smell him, obviously, but had approached slowly until contact was made), I'd never seen so much dirt fly. He must have had experience prior to losing sight because they seemed pretty equal. They eventually left each other alone and the blind fellow passed of old age one day.

I've seen VERY up close how a 2klb bull can jump well over a 5ft fence panel to get away from a fight. Always best to keep them separated and calm.

My father was seriously injured by a bull. He was calling in the cows and ended up getting in between the bull and the cows. The bull didn't like that and the damage to my dad was extensive enough that he almost lost his life. My dad wore the battle scars for the rest of his life. He was a real tough son of a gun and greatly missed.

Wow, that went well! Moving 3 bulls and having a distance to go was a blessing, wore them down a little.
