Bought mine, it's in a hidden locked room behind a rolling book shelf, bolted to the floor. There is an alarm system and motion sensors as well. I built a cabinet around it with a 1" shell of plywood and cement board around it to create a barrier and a lot of dust is someone wanted to grind the sides. Building a shell for my traditional safe as well since both can be cut open with a cordless grinder. I'm in California and we have been through a bunch of fires. A few friends had very expensive safes, none of their guns survived the fires as they heat destroyed everything in side.

Best review I’ve seen on this product very informative and you seem to have a very level head on this topic a lot of people’s responses to these cabinet/ lockers “my safe is better “but a lot of us know most 1500$ safes are just as easy to get into period, security system and motion detector in the cabinet is a viable option to the big bulky safe/ metal cabinet held together by sheet rock and formaldehyde 👍

Nice set up, Gen II Galil Ace, OSS TI, HE512C-GD. You pushed me over the edge. I will beef up my fire insurance, and decentralize with SecureIT. The silly thing is I am decentralized, just not secure. You are so right about the thought process of the thief. The coolest thing was when a retired cop on my wife’s job told her about the concepts of egress vs retreat, and a home defense plan. Knowing what you know is correct is not the same as your loved ones believing it. OBTW, thanks for omitting your politics and religion, it makes for a more acceptable experience for all.

Great review. Can you comment on the key override? It looked like an old fashion, easily pickable lock. How sturdy is the cabinet overall?
@13cgunreviews
@13cgunreviews 2 жыл бұрын
The cabinet is sturdy, as to the "pickability" of the lock, I have no idea, that's outside my wheelhouse, lol. Another way to look at any safe is that, given enough time, any safe can be breached, a safe / cabinet / lock is only buying time. For any cabinet or safe this size / type brute force would be the option of choice over picking it I would guess.

I'm guessing you are talking about the centurion? I can't speak to your needs so I don't know why you would. Some reasons might be, same ga steel (14ga on both) but 1/3of the weight (no fire rating aka dry wall). One person can carry it into virtually any area to set it up. Roughly Same interior dimensions when setup. More locking bolts (all sides) on the Agile 52.....

It's a matter of if you want something lighter while having the same amount of metal or something bigger with maybe some level of fire resistance. Something bigger may come across as more intimidating to a thief that doesn't know what they're looking at.

Basically, at this price you're buying a child-proof cabinet, not a safe. Better than nothing. The key to this is to hide it effectively in a secret room or false wall where a thief wouldn't expect to find it. An actual safe is going to cost a lot more. Check out Sturdy Safe for something serious at a reasonable price (for what you get). They can run up to $10,000.

$600 for a thin-walled cabinet you have to assemble yourself?
@antidulvian666
@antidulvian666 4 жыл бұрын
Same guage as a safe. It takes a stupidly short period of time to cut through a modern "safe" with a grinder. Also, ask a firefighter how well firearms survive in a real fire with a safe. Fire "rating" isn't JUST overrated but the drywall is FULL of corrosive chemicals So many reasons to go smarter instead of heavier.

@@antidulvian666 Again, $600 for a thin-walled cabinet you have to assemble yourself. The price for this thing is outrageous.
@antidulvian666
@antidulvian666 3 жыл бұрын
@@kylenelson3391 it's expensive, but it is superior to a traditional safe. You can move it easily (it's modular), you can expand it (modular attachment), and the materials are safer as drywall and carpet contain corrosive components. The lack of fireproof rating is irrelevant because if you research the ammo and guns cook up anyway. The thickness is irrelevant because you can cut through the side of a safe in minutes (seriously youtube it!)

@@antidulvian666 I definitely agree that traditional safes are problematic. And I think this safe is a great design. My issue is with the price. @13cgunreviews
@13cgunreviews 5 жыл бұрын
For $599 from Liberty you'd technically be buying a "Residential Security Container" that has a "fire rating". It wouldn't be called a safe (even if the company selling it has safe in their company name) and it wouldn't be fire proof, don't believe me, read the label inside of it and click over to the technical specs. That residential security container, for a $599 street price, would almost definitely have thinner steel than this cabinet does as well. I have traditional 1250pound 'safes' too i.e. "residential security containers", and for some people it may be the better choice. I'm not knocking either one, you just need to understand what it is your buying.
