fun fact: the standard way a SWAT team will usually stop a hijacked school bus (like this one) is to simply shoot the radiator with a shotgun using 00 buck (12 gauge). the radiator has a little door that makes it very easy to locate and shoot at. once the SWAT team sees a good hole pattern on the radiator door, they will back off a bit and just follow behind the bus until it eventually dies and rolls to a stop.

@thatguythatdoesstuff5899
@thatguythatdoesstuff5899 4 ай бұрын
@@the_undead And here I am seven months later, with the bus gone to scrap and no updates on the Escape other than a brief appearance in the getting rid of the bus video, where it comes off of the lift and Robert states that it has been on the lift for well over a year and the appearance of the dc to dc converter from one of his codas he originally planned to use in the Escape in the I bought another coda video, in which he presents said converter and says he took it out of a coda over a year ago for a project he didn't end up using it for, didn't even mention it was for the Escape. And there were no noticeable changes to the Escape despite the fact there was a deadline ending two months ago at the time of writing this comment. However I don't have patreon so I don't know if there is any more information there. I know Robert works at his own pace and is prone to procrastinating, but having a sponsored project with a deadline and not delivering is disappointing. Just a simple update video saying what the current status is or what is keeping it from moving forward, what's giving him trouble, that's all we really want.
@the_undead

@@thatguythatdoesstuff5899 quite frankly, I've stopped watching this guy and since the video where he was talking about, maybe canceling the bus project (I might be wrong on that. I forget exactly which video) because this 88 took a better help sponsorship and I don't watch content creators sponsorships without doing any research on the company or really anything at all. If you don't know what I'm talking about, better help is known to sell all of their user data to data brokers and seeing as they are an online therapy company that Is legally protected data and yes they were fined for this in 2021 or 2022 but that fine was the most notional slap on the wrist because they probably made more money from selling that data in the month or two it took to go from someone in the justice system going, maybe this needs to be punished to find being issued then the fine cost. Better help. Because this kind of data would be extremely valuable to gambling companies and gambling companies have effectively infinite money to throw around

When we removed the rails on my buddies bus we went the easy way. We put rivets back in and used urethane sealant to make sure they were waterproof. After seeing what you went through I'm glad we chickened out on doing it right. It already has so many exposed fasteners that it all just blemded together after paint.
@mjc8248
@mjc8248 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I am replying to myself, happens. Finished the video and noticed you didn't seal the panels to the supports. I know it's too late now but I would recommend at least sealing them from the inside. The seams have give due to temperature and vibration so the better you can seal it now the less water damage in the future. Freeze thaw events will loosen the rivets over time, allowing moisture in. When the interior walls were exposed as a bus it didn't really matter but if the interior is enclosed that can lead to mold and mildew.

Wow! Just loved it. Before my beloved passed she asked me to buy an A camping trailer. And cross this country visiting our 4 offspring.I should have. Instead I purchased a pop up camper with grotty canvas and woeful windup roof. I removed the roof and filled it with the rest of the whole van in little pieces. Took it to the tip and drove the floor home. Purchased 10 8x4 sheets of Aluminum and nearly same of black acrylic for wrap around windows. Built what looks like an Airstream Basecamp but with total wraparound black windows. Faced your attachment issues. Made my own break (we call folder in Australia) from an old heavy bed frame. Yes so many hours and yes although definitely not a control freak or OCD I still wanted each stage as perfect as possible. Towed it 4,000 km test drive and it was like a trout in a stream. Despite polished mirror finish over past 2 yrs it has micro oxidised. Am starting repolish this week. Noticed realestate signage is thin zinc plated steel sheet with vinyl finish...that’s what I shoulda done. So 5yrs into widowhood I realise this is exactly what my darling knew I would do. Oh needed to sell my box trailer so am building a 2person standup inside pod to nest onto it....then I’m going to....

However, then I remembered it's actually required by regulations around here to have something solid at this height, so that small cars don't dive under trucks in a side collision, you know, so you don't crush and/or decapitate the passengers. In the video, it appears there's just a tiny strip there, mounted to vertical bars, not sure if that would pass? Conclusion: make side bumpers :)

You are an inspiration. I too have dreamed of converting an old school bus. But watching you makes me quit that dream and take up something that requires less time and stress: Building up my body's tolerance to iocain.

And the work you went through to do this video is what I feel like doing small projects. I spend more time talking myself out of doing it and building it in my head.

body work takes FOREVER. As someone who has spent weeks straightening out a single wheel arch on a car, I can't even imagine tackling a project as big as a friggen bus. Kudos for actually finishing a whole side. Personally I'm excited to see you start working on the interior. The body work is tedious, but I think the interior is where you can really get creative and do some really cool stuff.

Man, what an insane amount of work over work over work. I sure would have wrecked the bus long ago due to anger issues. You, Sir, are one patient dude !
