AGL Häussel ST Classic Alnico 2 vs Alnico 5

English translation of description. Here two Haussel ST Classic Set compared, though with differences quite similar. The greenish ST (alder body) has the set with Alnico 2 with Vintage Staggering, the blue ST (swamp ash) the Alnico 5 Set with curved Staggering. This video is not an official comparison, but represents only the main differences. Alnico 2 is soft, slightly compressed, and also slightly thinner sounding. If you want a mild warm ST Sound, the Alnico 2 should be considered.

I hate when some dude has an amazing sounding amp and guitar but allows clipping into the youtube final export. Always check 1. A/D input level 2. DAW meter level 3. export a bit lower than 0db in case your video decoders clip the signal. Please :) (and alnico 2 sounds so much more balanced because of the weaker magnetic pull)

When I was a shredder in early 90s' I wouldn't have any idea about how cool spangky twangy clean & overdrived sounds from a strat were - because I would be more into thick tone from a high gain metal sounds. Thank God it wouldn't last longer. A friend of my uncle played Stevie Ray Vaughn's lil wing somewhere in 1995 - that flipped me out to become a blues player. What you're playing in vid brings me back to that moment 😁

So you where a bluesman, hidding into a metal man. I have strato to blues rock, and a ibanez to metal shred. I can say im not one or other, im everything. Love to shred on ibanez and love to making sound a strato on low gain ;)

@@silentmadness8227 I still play Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn and other works of shredders like Dime Bag Darrell, Nuno, Alexi Laiho and so on. Anyway that's just fir warming up or - to be precise - for sports😁. When it comes to play guitar I would prefer dealing with bluesy and soulful notes . This makes me feel at home.

@@bluesyshredder for sure stratocaster is made for expresive interpretation, i'm a classical guitar player too, and stratocaster are the most efective guitar to explore the dinamics of a guitar. Excellent musical weapon a strato.

I'm researching pickups for a stratocaster upgrade. Which way to go? Anico II or V? Your comparison is very helpful, as I can discern absolutely no difference between the two, so I've arrived at the conclusion that it probably doesn't matter.

As good as sound quality of videos may be nowadays, many things are not possible to demonstrate through video samples. The way different pickups feel, while playing them on own guitars, the way they behave when using different picks and playing power, that´s all things you can ´t demo with a video. Also the video watching is not that easy, as most think, there is also some experience needed, to get most infos out of videos. Listen to the attack of the pick, check out the frequencies, and the compresion you get when hitting a string. Also to me it is not easy checking other guys videos, and some videos do not show the details needed, to get the wanted infos. Alnico 2 will always be a bit softer and thinner sounding than alnico 5. But do not forget the guitar, the pickups will get mounted on. Depending on your wanted sounds, it is also important not forgettting the guitar and its wood about that. So I would not say, it does not matter, but I would not set the choice of magnets on forst place, better look at the overall sound of the pickup models, you might want to choose.

Is there a reason you have the alnico 5s so low mounted "? I ordered a guitar with the blues alnico 5 set I wonder if I made the right choise - I like big fat sound Srv style with lots of attack and dynamics

@@dimitratoliopoulou7841 I need space for my style of playing with the pick. Specially the middle pickup is always set pretty low, so I get the space needed for my pick at that position.

they both fucking rock. though i guess the Alnico 5 are slightly hotter and a wee bit less chimey. i've got BareKnuckle Veneer Board 63' and they sound similar to the Blue Al5.

True alnico 2 gives it a tele type twang. But it still sounds like a strat with the 5 positions. Tele has a more punch and presence.
