Great video as always and thanks a lot for this coverage Terminator! Some quick clarifications, There are 26 playable factions, the 14 vanilla factions + 8 new for Danaans and + 4 new for Trojans. Also there is a link for EPIC games users in the steam workshop mod description. They can download the .pack file and install it manually. One mechanic that is good to mention on top of everything else is the re-emerging factions and in general faction aligned rebels, which make for a much more dynamic campaign in late game.

You forgot to mention one of the best chances of this mod: Now heroes can DIE in battle, and this is amazing. I really enjoy Troy, but immortal heroes are one mechanic that I HATE. I want to fear that each battle can be the last one of my generals

Does the mod include a Paeonian faction on the Trojan side? Love the Iliad but was disappointed when I heard that there won't be any more DLCs since important factions are still missing.

Hello Nathan I just use the steam mod downloader and since Troy is supported now you can download it that way and put the the Troy mod file.

You can take any mod from Steam and port it to any version, really. Just ask someone that has the game to give you the workshop files that he/she downloaded once they subscribed to the mod.

Sounds good so far. My biggest issue with Troy are the battle so far. Und you said the battle has become better now. What about animations? I compare the original animations of Rome 2 B&G DLC here (before CA removed them for some senseless reason). What can you say about this especially?

Death animations are better especially from ranged attacks (no flying up to the air). Also some silly animations have been removed like kicking etc. Overall better but not sure any new animations have been added yet

That video influenced me to buy Troy and install this Agony mod. Yeah, I'm a sheep like that. Side note : @TheTerminator at the start I perceived your tone as over enthusiastic, and it was kinda suss. I thought, “Come on, everything is seems fantastic to that Terminator guy. Finally a mod for Troy! Nice to see that the mod creator included a mod fix for those of us who got Troy off the Epic store, BUT why after installing the "agony" pack in the Troy data folder as per instructions, do I not see the mod appearing in the Troy mod manager so it can be selected? One person having this problem in the steam discussion page claimed he solved this when a mod folder appeared after they tried to install a different mod? (What other mods are there as none on Epic.) I created a mod folder in the Troy data folder and added the "agony" packet but this didn't work either. So Terminator, do you or anyone else reading this have a solution for this issue? If so please share! Thanks in advance! BTW: As usual, great job on your mod review, Terminator! :)

Does the mod manager maybe have a filter for outdated mods? (cause it might appear as such if not coming from the EPIC store itself) While I am not familiar with the EPIC mod manager, I am pretty sure other manual mods are simply dropped in the data folder. The /mod/ folder should be the equivalent for the workshop folder on steam, so only for mods from the workshop.

It does, you can get the mod files from a direct link in the Steam mod description. The difficulties have been stream-lined but the mod is recommended to be player on very hard difficulty (ideally legendary due to preventing manual saves).

In case of AI units, it somewhat does for some battles (currently only offensive AI battles) as the battle AI has been changed. The AI is forced into defensive stance, which prevents them to automatically run after your routing and through your standing units.

I realise it's a slim chance given that you say it isn't on epic etc, but I don't suppose if anyone knows of a way to get it to work with that version? Unfortunately I dl'd it for free on release as I wasn't expecting much of it, but there are aspects I like 😂 not the end of the world if not to be fair, cheers for bringing the mod to our attention though, wish there was some overhaul for three kingdoms that added a citizen mechanic in some way like dei did for Rome 2, or shield wall for Tob, shame there isn't one for base Attila or warhammer 2 ( That works I'm aware there's one in beta)

How about a mod that enhances the mythos mode? Having grown up with the Iliad and the odyssey, it just feels incomplete to not have myth units in the game. Do not care much for the "historical" mode, the Iliad is a poem where even the river has life and a will of its own, where gods descend and fight upon the battlefield. It is not a history book.

It is indeed something to argue about but the reason for removing it was it's superficial feeling. You loose all diplomacy with that faction and it might not even be a faction that makes sense as a antagonist. To offset this mechanic, all factions will pose much more threat and try to cooperate in order to counter their highest threats, especially in late game.

Agony's changes are great, but just like Shieldwall, it suffers from one problem: it can't surpass the base campaign's limitations. Endgame is still a steamroll across the Aegean Sea, cultures are limited, etc. I hope that modders who make DeI style mods could move to Rome Remastered - their ideas and changes will work so well wih the better base.

Not sure about Thrones but yes, (un)fortunately, there are limitations though Agony does try to get beyond the intended, including TW's usual steam roll endgame. My original reason to overhaul Troy was actually it's smaller scale (as I it is currently a one-man project), though it turned out to be much larger than I expected. Also, Troy did not get much coverage by modders or content created, so it felt like it could be in much more need of some attention. It is a playground of ideas for me, as it was for CA. Rome Remastered got some huge mods and legacy mods in the works, as also covered by Terminator ))

Since Rome 1 Total War, I bought and played many times all the games. I have to say practically all of them are really good in their own way, however Troy is where I draw the line.. It forced myself to see the good in it, I just couldn't: - Direct import of infantry+other soldiers from warhammer, yet not including basic soldier formations like shieldwall, pikewall..etc - Absolutely horrondeous soldier on soldier combat animations, it looks like a cartoon, a soldier slashes you, you fly 3 meters away - Absolutely awful character design, all of them are adorned with gold.. gold everywhere.. They are supposed to be goddamn warriors not fashion queen - Worst sound design - Worst, most boring looking campaign map + awful interface, it took me ages to find myself - Absolute worst: Hero on hero combat is random, animations play randomly, can be interrupted by some random soldier running across the battlefield..etc ... (Too many issues) The positive: - Enjoyable, interesting new trading mechanic.. That's about it.. That's the only thing that I enjoyed I regret buying the DLCs, serves me right. 2/10
