Any perception people have of Lyle being grandiose if it exists is probably always going to be a sort of mimic of his dad, who is always going to be the biggest voice in his head. Even though he killed him, he still seemingly deeply admired and revered him. Even though he tortured Lyle he would have felt it was because his dad wanted the best for him. Thank God he has had so much therapy and now a sociology degree under his belt so he can better understand what happened to him. In my opinion Lyle is extremely strong. Imagine mastering yourself to that degree after the upbringing he had.

@claudiabeatrizkingazcona3120 yes he feared and loved and admired his dad. Even if the judge and jury had seen into his mind and heart and seen the fear and the absence of hate that night, I think they still would convict bc of the brutality and because his parents are not here to defend themselves against the allegations. But they have more than served their time. They are compassionate, productive, morally upright men now-- not the terrified kids they were.

Being shackled to Jose running his life was never going to end well for Lyle. Never able to meet Jose's standards and expectations in college sport girls or business, he probably would have rebelled with more burglaries fraud and recklessness and finished up dead or in jail anyway. Become an abuser himself.maybe. He paid a high price but he ended the intergenerational cycle of abuse and freed from the shackles of Jose's dominance, was able to become the great person he is today. Educated, smart, caring and helping others. Its time they were free

You put so eloquently what I’ve been trying to say under these videos. I also could not imagine this ever ending well for these boys. Being strapped to Jose would have eventually brought out the worst in them, especially Lyle. He eventually would have snapped anyway.

My daughter and I were talking one day and I started telling her about this case. I didn't expand on it for too long but did mention how long they had been in prison. Then I told her that Lyle and Erik had decided that even though they were going to be in prison that they were going to be happy and make it as positive of an experience as possible. I told her about the projects they were involved with in there. She started crying when I got to the end. She thought it was amazing that they had gotten to a point in their life where they could decide and implement happiness for themselves and spread it to others. I only hope that Lyle and Erik realize that many people who are not incarcerated in prison physically are not able to do what they have done. It makes me cry writing about how wonderful this point in their life really was for them and for many other people. I really care about them even though we have never met. They deserve their physical freedom away from the prison.

Of course, grandiosity is always a compensation for low self esteem

" Lyle's perception of himself as being extremely smart, extremely talented, better than others " Not sure what you are getting at, saying that, bec your clip of Lyle showed him to be very humble to the point of denying any talent, any achievement any worth Once Lyle was free from the shackles of Jose running his life, Lyle DID show he was smart, talented and better than others. Better than probably any other prisoner before him with his model prison record. So talented he managed to get all these help and other good programs started in prison that had never been done or done successful before. And sure smarter than Pam who tried her absolute best to trip him up and lie

The video is so misleading. She says Lyle is grandiose and then shows a clip where he shows a completely different behavior….People have no idea what grandiosity is……

@colinmuller8856 this video was made to prove the woman in the beginning wrong. That's not me. I added Lyle to prove her wrong.

@aidafaupl4733 i don't get how you don't get that this was intentional. I was proving the blonde lady wrong by adding what Lyle said.
