There is not a single book on geography enough for preparing for civil service exams. Although Ncert books are really good.. but the way you explain those topics from ncerts along with your notes and many other charts, maps, pictures etc; is far more lucent and easy to grasp. yes.in this type , they are following traditional practices.comparing to Commercial and intensive Farming productivity is low as in those system they are using chemical pesticides.

Slash and burn agriculture decreases the soil fertility or land productivity as tribal people have no idea how to grow crop, as in how to follow proper cycle. Like today, to regain soil fertility we grow pulses. In those days or even today in some parts they just keep growing heavy crops and ultimately soil became very less fertile.
