depends, most of the story was on point, when people hear of a missing child in the wilderness. Now imagine that you are dealing with aliens in the frontier of space (yes all non human colonized space would be frontier to humans because space is so exotic and dangerous), humans would ignore the local laws and rules that seem asinine, and a mining rig would be the only thing that had the correct tech for sonar mapping and communication integration and translations, unless a universal human language was developed in this story you would need a system to manage the comms for hundreds of tourists from different backgrounds. The only thing that really killed the story would be the HFY name drop the author felt needed to be put in by having the alien sheriff scream "HUMANITY FUCK YEAH!". It was completely out of place and tone for the emotional build up and flow of the story.

This is the difference between a "herd" and a "pack". A herd will protect what it still has, won't risk for that which is lost lest they lose more. Pack bonding occurs when you're willing to risk to get back what you've lost, and don't bother us with the odds. Not a criticism against people that form herds, just... This is why we're scary. But don't worry, we like you!
@JimmyAgent0078 ай бұрын
Agreed. Thanks for reading!
@edwardpaulsen10747 ай бұрын
Just an interesting observation from an old fart based upon the premise of 'herds' and 'packs'... There is one further delineation I would add... "good" and "bad"... The obvious two primarily representing 'good' were told in the story. The good 'pack' of humans came to the assistance of the good 'herds' associated with the lead character (Nyta Feng) telling the tale. The "bad pack" was somewhat represented by the creatures in the woods... perhaps "bad" is too strong of a word for creatures likely following instincts without any purposeful thought... but they still represented the possible dangers reflected by and could definitely be enhanced by any malicious group or 'pack' in regards to the harm they may cause. The only group not specifically mentioned was the "bad herd", although there were hints shown in the attempts to overly regulate those that came to help and the trepidation initially shown by Nyta Feng against the immigration papers being reviewed. While there is a reasonable amount of caution displayed, it hints at the possibilities of harsher and stricter attempts to control others. Something that can be seen within humankind already, whether termed as "herd" or "pack"... they all display variations of the mentality and viewpoints. I suppose my closing query would be, Look inside yourself and ask yourself, which of the four groups mentioned do you align with? Are you the "herd" that protects their own and keeps to themselves? Are you the "pack" that gathers together to help others? Or are you the "pack" that gathers to harm others? or the "herd" that tries to control and impose upon others? Perhaps we are a little bit of each one, in measure, depending on the situation or circumstances? An interesting notion to think about... Which one would You aspire to be?
@JimmyAgent0077 ай бұрын
@@edwardpaulsen1074 It's all the same thing. I mention this in my other story, Cute & Cuddly, but the thing that would draw me to protecting someone from harm is the same that would make me want to harm the threat to those I protect.

the canopy and undergrowth of even a less dense forest [not even considering tropical rain forests like the amazon] would have obscured nearly all light from what was probably equivalent of the overhead light or emergency flashlight in a standard passenger car that broke down. beyond that i am also confused on the asteroid mining survey ship mentioned... that seems like something that would never come into atmo willingly and instead use a shuttle... but i also am thinking of it as similar to one of those deep sea/artic exploration ships that launch the smaller vehicles/drones. and other than that... maybe the shuttles were doing what you said as well and weren't the focus of the story [clearly the good boys were the focus lol], but a proper search operation would utilize all means at hand and coordinate them which was well set up in story as well.

Man great narration and great story I hope the author makes a story from the dogs point of view or at least another story from a doggos point of view

I do have an animal-centric story rattling around in my head. would rather tell it in a visual medium I think, though.

Yes, a lost child, possibly in danger, will bring out everyone who possibly can to search, costs be damned. Who wants to bet human search and rescue teams will soon be organized for that planet?
@JimmyAgent0078 ай бұрын
No bet. Humans will have that forest mapped and catalogued as part of a new tourist safari. Thanks for listening!

I* enjoy reading and listening. I write stories for my own entertainment but rarely short stories like these. they would almost make excellent Twilight Zone stories. Thanks for sharing them.@@JimmyAgent007

I've been listening to your story telling for a while and I wish the stories were true about humans. Humans can be good, but not as good as the stories make out.
