Someone (the author) does not know their American history. Fun fact, the American Continental Army was trained in the Prussian style, and at its height numbered some 80,000 men. The British Army in America never numbered more than 44,000 men, and that *includes* the Hessians. Not to take anything away from the Continental Army, but both they and the British Regulars spoke often of something they both called the Militia Shuffle. Which was the Militia's propensity to break and run. The Continental Army in comparison was a well trained, well disciplined military of the time and are responsible for virtually all the defeats inflicted on the British by the Americans. The Americans like to wax lyrical about the bravery of the Militia's, but the reality is the American War of Independence was won on land by the American Continental Army, and at sea by the combined French and Spanish fleets. The myth of the plucky militia was pretty much created because Congress for years hated the idea of spending money on a standing army. So the militia was lionised, and the American Continental Army all but forgotten.

Also the whole "lost" in vietnam is a popular but incorrect summary of the war. The paris peace accords were signed in january 1973. The us pulled all but the embassy forces out. Saigon fell april 1975 During the war there wasnt a single major battle or action that the us failed. The US lost more battles in Korea.
