The manatee absolutely love drinking fresh water. Next time you get close to one of its possible dribble a bit and Mr manatee will pop right up for a nice drink.

We thought about it, but apparently there are several issues about giving water to manatees here: we’re not supposed to (might be illegal?) because it attracts them to humans, and also the chlorine might not be healthy for them…either that, or the marinas just don’t want us wasting even a trickle 😆

I used to live in that area. You have to pay attention through there. I've seen barges run aground when running too close to the edge of channels or trying to make way at low tide. Vero to Wabasso bridge can be tough to get through at low tide.

Very beautiful out by the Wabasso bridge - such a pretty little anchorage, but very shallow. We’re definitely learning that lesson about the icw!

KZbin has developed this habit of inserting new videos under past viewed ones. So I just now saw this episode. It was so surprising to see that you had sailed right into Brevard county. I am surprised that the Yacht Club didn't charge you more for just tying up. Are you still in this area? I live in Cocoa and the two marines we use to have have been turned into condos. Their are some inexpensive marinas along the barge channel. They are well sheltered from the weather. And Titusville has one that is still working. Sorry I missed seeing you, I have a pick up and could have dragged you around to pick up supplies. Looking forward to seeing where you end up hauling out at, cheers.

And the adventure continues. I was raised in Northern Ontario and I thought we had a lot of wildlife. The thing is, in unpopulated areas you see wildlife rarely. Here in the US, they live among us. I have never seen as much wildlife as here in the US. We see them because they don't have places to go where there are no people.

I agree - also from Ontario, I’m used to having seen wildlife such as birds, small critters (chipmunks, rabbits, porcupines), deer and sometimes bears and moose…looking dolphins in the eyes daily and our first manatee sighting have been exciting/novel experiences!
