I own this guitar and I must say its a monster. HEAVY!!! But its heavy cuz the wood they're using is top notch, I mean the best wood for a LP type guitar that's available in ANY price range. The workmanship on these guitars is uniformly fantastic. The South Korean luthiers are the best in the world right now. That's all there is to it. The thru neck construction, the pickups, the maple cap, the ebony fretboard, the Grovers, the Graph tech bridge and nut, the incredible fretwork , factory set up and double truss rod all combine to make this guitar super lively and musical. It intonates superbly, it sounds rich and warm whilst still being bright, its easy to play and incredibly affordable...Better than a $2000 Gibson...

I'm fairly convinced if you're buying new in the US you can't do any better than an Agile. Paid ~300 for a fanned fret(27-25) Solid Spruce top Acoustic Guitar, 600 for a neck-thru 7-string(Septor) years ago when they weren't nearly as commonplace as they are now and recently 270 for a beveled-top baritone(Legacy model) that's become my go-to guitar(once I switch out the pups at least). I watch the Rondo Music website like a hawk waiting for some gem or bizarre instrument to pop up that no other manufacturer can compete with. Hope they do a rerun of their Epic model($400 Roasted Maple fretboard with SS frets) and a Baritone LP for lefties.

But I also have an AL-3200 7 string that is all over the place in the QC department. That said, for what I paid for the two guitars combined (about $800), the Intrepid Pro is worth all that and more. I've bought 3 Agile guitars over the years. Your observations match mine. They play and sound good right away, their single-cut guitars are heavy as fuckc their ebony is dark and even, good hardware, etc. The pickup selector on my baritone feels a little wonky but is dead quiet; not even a hint of a pop or scratch or anything when using it. I wish all my guitars had clean electronics like that. If I didn't have 2 bad shoulders I would probably own a library of Agile guitars. Their b-stock deals are unreal. One of the guitars I bought from them was like $80 and it played just as well as any other guitar I've handled, at any price point. Good neck profile, perfect frets, intelligently designed neck joint, good body ergos, everything.

I have the 2013 SE Tremonti Custom ltd. edition with the quilt maple veneer top.Overall a great guitar,very heavy,despite the veneer,because it has the full thickness mahagony body,so if you have back/shoulder issues,I wouldn't recomment it.Mine had the SE 245 pickups which are generic Alnico V humbuckers,but the new models have a korean version of the Tremonti pickups,curious how they sound,the US versions are very hot and articulate. I replaced the SE245's with a S.Duncan ''Hotrodded Set'' and installed individual coil-splitters,like on this Agile here. The only negative things,are the tremolo and nut.The nut on my guitar was a cheapass plastic nut,cut only for one string size and the moment you touched the tremolo,the guitar would go out of tune.I put Schaller mini-locking tuners,a Graphtech TUSQ nut and a Hipshot Contour tremolo on it.Now it stays in tune perfectly,I'm curious how the newer models are in terms of tuning stabillity.

I have this same exact guitar, same color, bought it several months ago from Rondo Music after watching this review. Mine weighs 9 lbs 5 oz. The flame is gorgeous. The back side even the body is flamed. I got lucky on this guitar. I did swap out the pick guard for a cream mother of toilet seat and the 4 knobs for barrel speeds as they are easier to grasp and pull up (coil split). They use the metric, not the USA style knobs and Epi LP spacing PG.

Yet another guitar company. It is a nice colour on that guitar and you can still see the wood grain through the finish. I just checked their website and was pleasantly surprised to see three left-handed models at the top of the page. They list several other left-handed models. You do have to wonder a bit about how they cut costs. The picture of their $299 Douglas WNO 640 SB Left Handed model shows some strange string spacing by the bridge.

thanks for the review! :) I waited until one came up used on Reverb, since the shipping and import costs for new are a bit steep to Canada -- but apparently their quote tool on the website includes import fees, shipping, and it comes in a case, so that's a fair price. still, this has upgrades that aren't even available on most LP copies, like the scooped heel joint, graphite nut and saddles, compound radius... it isn't just an incredible value, it's an incredible guitar, full stop. it feels awesome to play! I've picked up various Gibson Les Pauls in the store and thought, hm, I'm not seeing where the $3500 for a Les Paul Traditional / Standard ends up going, especially when some of the Studio Faded / Tributes seem to be set up and play better. Epiphone has much more consistent QC it seems, but this... this is something else that's in a completely different class. if anyone is considering getting one of these, do it. the only downside is that it is VERY heavy. mine feels like it must be at least 12 or 13 pounds. (I haven't weighed it yet, but I should maybe do that.) solid mahogany and neck through design leads it to be very stable. I just play by myself and practice sitting down, but the stainless steel frets feel like glass, the tuning stability is amazing (graphite nut, saddles, and the Grover tuners pretty much keep it practically in tune for days if not weeks), and even though I generally don't like binding, it looks pretty cool. I'm not sure how the original pickups / electronics are, since the previous owner put in GFS pickups and some wiring harness, but that's easily replaced to taste. if I was gonna nitpick, weight aside, a couple of the inlays look like they're slightly asymmetrical (since they're trapezoid-ish and not simple blocks), and I think I prefer a slightly wider nut / string spread for ease of picking. I really think it's superior to a Les Paul and the price is astonishing. I'd think they'd hold pretty good resale value if it's not to your taste. try one out! :)

What I love about this guitar is the volute at the headstock. That has always been my biggest gripe with les Paul style guitars. They have an extreme headstock angle but no support. There's a reason why Les Paul headstocks are known to break. A scarf joint helps, but a volute is the best option imho. But damn all those features for $500,- is incredible. My Schecter c-1 classic has similar specs (neck through with maple walnut, name brand hardware etc.) and cost 400 more. The only thing my schecter has is better pickups (Seymour Duncan JB-Jazz set). Neck through is so nice for upper fret acces.
@keithbaker2966 жыл бұрын
I'm with you A.J. Between the volute, and the 5-pc neck (with maple) this headstock should stay where it belongs. It's really a pity that Gibson, for whatever reason, is not able to remedy their headstock issue. A guitar that's as heavy as a tank should not be as delicate as stemware.
@A.J.K876 жыл бұрын
I've heard more people say that haha. Maybe Gibson should offer that as a custom shop option, pre broken and repaired headstock to make it vintage correct ;)
@Davo22336 жыл бұрын
A.J. K they are not in as much need as a Gibson of a volute. It’s not as much about neck angle as it is the 1 piece neck. The 5 piece neck has grain going in different directionsand they are far more durable. Do you see many LP guitars not named Gibson or epiphone with broken headstocks for sale on reverb or eBay? The Scarf joint everyone says to look for to spot a fake Gibson or a Chibson is a really good thing if it doesn’t have the big “G” on the headstock.It makes a neck twice as strong at the break at least.
@A.J.K876 жыл бұрын
true, a scarf joint is a very big help. a multi-laminate neck like this Agile also helps. As does a volute. Every little bit helps. Weird that Gibson doesn't do anything to strengthen their necks.

I have the same guitar, only in purple quilted burst, with gold hardware. Mine was a retirement gift from my wife and I got it three years ago. It was advertised as having a solid quilted top. I’ve never pulled out a pickup to check it out, but I’ll take Rondo Music at their word. Mine is pretty heavy too, and I don’t mind saying that I think the dense hard woods used help to give it a deep, dark, sustaining tone with lots of character whether playing dirty or clean. I come from a very musical family, and I’ve had some pretty cool vintage Gibsons in my hands, including a late 1950s ES-175 and ES-335, both with original Patent Applied For pickups, as well as a 1974 Les Paul Deluxe, and I think that tonally , and playability-wise, my Agile is just as good as any of those vintage guitars. I have an older Agile singlecut, purchased in 2004, and I would say that the top-end Agiles are dollar-for-dollar the best value guitars I’ve ever had the privilege of playing. Rock on, Agufish!

I recently bought a AL-3200MCC Floyd and thought it so good that I bought a second one in a different finish. The first is in a 2-Tone Sunburst with minimal flames, the second is is a Black Flame with great flames. The main difference between your 3200MCC and mine are the bridge. These two have a nickel plated Floyd Rose Special trem which I find to be quite good altho I wouldn't attempt Steve Vai type trem acrobatics out of fear of tipping the trem out at the posts due to my guitars' substantial weights. Both clocked in at 9 lbs 5oz and 9 lbs 11oz. And yes, they DO have very slim necks (definitely slimmer than my 2012 Agile AL-3010SE's neck). While the max dimensions of the necks are identical between the two types, my 3010SE has a slightly more rounder profile whilst my 3200MCC has a flatter profile. All three are keepers and the humbuckers on the Floyds will be swapped out for 2 different aggressive sets of pups.

I own a 3200, and IMO they are the best bang for your buck guitar out there. I would put mine up against a Gibson USA guitar any day. Agufish is right, they are heavy though. But if you were going to buy an equivalent Gibson, it would be the Axcess at around $5000. You will need to replace the pickups though. I put a Duncan Pearly Gates set in mine, and it sings. I bought the 3200 for $500 and pickups for $180, and for under $700 have a killer ax.

I have a 3100Mcc. Basically the more Traditional Les Paul version (normal neck joint). Cherry Sunburst is incredible looking, the pictures on Rondo's site really don't even compare to the guitars in person. I currently have 2 Gibson LPs (2000 Studio, 76 Custom), 1 EPI LP Standard, and this Agile. The Agile's fretboard and neck just feel fantastic. It's the only one of these guitars that I never had to dress or level or polish the frets when I first got it. Iv'e swapped pickups a couple times (JB, PAFs etc), I do that with every guitar. It sounds just as good as my Studio, but it's different... smoother high end, a bit more growl. The Gibsons have more scream and a bit more sustain. The Agile definitely has the best neck and fret board of the bunch, it just feels high quality. everything is smooth and soft to the touch. I would definitely recommend buying a 3100 (or better) over any of the Gibson stuff under $1500 and they are clearly higher quality than Epiphone, though if you put some time (frets) and money (pickups/fretwork) into the Epi's they can be roughly as good.

I was really looking forward to this video and you did not disappoint! 24 frets would be nice though.

Could I state that Agile is the US Harley Benton? VERY nice guitar & review (as usual). If Simon is impressed, I'm impressed too! :)

I bought an Agile 3010 a few years ago. Great guitar for the money. And heavy as hell. I'd recommend them to anybody.

Good for you! I don't think that Agile has gotten near enough love over the last few years. I have owned 2 of them and an SX which Rondo also sells. (It was an SX Liquid with 3xP90's, and it was sweet! ($159.00. Yes I said ONE HUNDRED FIFTY NINE DOLLARS... It was stolen, so I'll be getting another one soon). SX are Rondo's bottom tier guitar, so they can be hit and miss to a degree but you should review an SX Liquid someday. These are great guitars, and they are affordable enough for the average musician on a Ramen budget. They play great, and the Agile line is built in South Korea by experienced builders. So, as a dedicated fan boi I'm very glad to see this review on your channel. Thanks for keeping the Agile / Rondo power strong! : )

I have a 2014 Gibson Les Paul Standard 120th Anniversary guitar and an Agile AL3200 MCC Goldtop with Fishman noiseless P90s. Guess which one is my favorite.

That thing is pretty impressive. You know how I feel about the blue but I’m digging the full weight. I’d love a black beauty style one

These are the best single cuts I have an AL-2k (super cheap, ~200USD) and i've never touched a single cut that retails under a grand that it doesn't walk. I can only imagine that a step up from that is beyond awesome.

Killer riffage dude. And what a sexy guitfiddle. Feel like I'm totally gonna have to buy one now. Never tried one or actually even seen an Agile in person.

dude, you are heavily underrated. Maybe you could review the epiphone explorer (with emgs) sometime?

Last week I had a one in my hands at GC. It was Blue Purlple Guilt top and was $374. The GC sales guy told me he made a mistake and it was sold. You can't get a Gibson with an Ebony fingerboard. I wound up buying a Dean Hardtail with DiMarzio pickup and and a Dean case for $350 out the door. It has and insane flame maple top and an Ebony fingerboard.

Dude! Agiles are UH-MAZING guitars for the money! I have a tobacco burst 3100 and right out of the box it was set up great and played phenominally well! The ebony fingerboard is frankly the nicest one I've ever played. Its smooth as glass! I did put in DiMarzio pickups (super distortion in the bridge and a paf 36th anniversary in the neck) but that was just for preference. The Alnico V's that came with it were very good. I replaced the selector switch with an actual Switchcraft selector switch. Those were the only mods I did to it. I've owned 2 les Paul's (an 89 custom and a 97 standard) and I gotta be honest, I prefer my Agile.

killerdude35 holy fast reply lmao. Well I just bought a brand new 2019 Standard to commemorate my father passing in December. I don’t think anyone really has like ill intent or anything, but it does kinda suck constantly seeing everyone compare $400-$1000 guitars to my Gibson haha. You know what I mean?
@claydoughty71825 жыл бұрын
killerdude35 so basically I was hoping you said no 😂😂😂
@killerdude355 жыл бұрын
@@claydoughty7182 Hey man, first of all, sorry to hear about your dad. I lost mine in 2010 and I still miss him terribly! It gets easier though. Just hang in there! Second, I'm still a huge fan of Gibsons. Practically all of my influences were LP players! And there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of owning one! But you know as well as I do that 50% of the cost of a Gibson is tied to the prestige of the name itself. Yes there are some amenities tied to a Gibson that contribute like the nitrocellulose finish, the quality of the components, etc. But really, it's the "Made in the USA" and "Gibson" labels that make them so expensive. The truth is there are a lot of really good guitar builders out there now and the process has become so automated that there's not a lot of difference anymore between a high end guitar and a budget model. In fact, you are really better off getting something affordable and upgrading the parts. You end up with a great guitar and you still come out way cheaper.

I have the 3010 SE which has almost everything this has except the maple cap and the neck like yours has and I love it. Oh, mine doesn't have triple binding.

I had a Les Paul goldtop with p90's from Agile a couple of years ago and it's still the best guitar I've ever played. Even better than a real Gibson. I wish I still had it and contemplate getting another one.

man that seems like a killer guitar for the price, any fret sprout issues etc. The pickups sound decent enough
@luciencrestfallen11436 жыл бұрын
I do not know if you shortened the pickups demo part of the video because of the amount of posibilities, but I liked each pickup combination being shorter. I usually fast forward those parts in your videos

I have an older model Agile and it too is very heavy. It is a fantastic guitar and this is when they were selling the 2100 Model for around $275. It is hard to beat the quality for the price of these guitars!!!!!!!!!
