Some added context for some of the lines: there was a concert early on (I don’t remember exactly which one but I think it was abroad) that Suga missed due to his social anxiety and he was very angry and disappointed in himself for a long time because of it. It’s clear that all the members love army as much as we love them, but I’d almost say that Suga loves us the most. For example his first birthday after debut they had a fan meetup and he made 300 gift packages for the fans that would be there. He designed cute sticker labels, spent his own money on travel cards and sweets to put in each one, and hand wrote notes for each one. Assembled them himself with the help of a couple members. There ended up being 350 fans at that meetup so when he got home he made 50 more and got them posted to the fans that missed out. He’s always been doing things like that for us. Going above and beyond.

the story is that in december 2015, in their kobe japan concert, tae and yoongi never got to the stage so it was cut short saying they didn't want to perform with just 5 members. fans were told the other two were at the hospital. No one knew why until the next month when Yoongi posted a really long letter to us about his anxiety. He went back to the kobe venue by himself after the concerts had passed and told us that on top of his stage anxiety, he was sorry for disappointing us and not being able to stand on stage that day.

Yoongi has always been my favorite in BTS. While all the other members have had issues going on, such as Jimin with body image issues and Jungkook's loss of childhood, Yoongi was the one I connected to most. So, here are some fun facts about the song. Yoongi didn't really want to be a famous idol when he was younger, he basically just wanted to produce music for people. His parents didn't agree with his career choice, and after already being poor with his family, having to decide between a few dollars worth of a meal, or a bus ticket home, he moved to Seoul to sell his music on the streets, where he was often scammed by people. He managed to get into Big Hit, where he apparently did some B-Boy dancing, until his nighttime job as a delivery guy got in the way. He was hit by a car, damaging his shoulder. He refused to tell anyone about his injury in fear of getting kicked out of the trainee program, so his shoulder basically healed wrong s he can't dance as well as he could. On top of that, Yoongi has issues of depression, and anxiety in a place where mental health isn't taken as seriously, and there isn't many places to go and get help.. So the fact that Yoongi has prevailed through all of the hardships in his life and managed to become one 7th of the worlds most famous band, is amazing. He is so inspiring and he got me through a lot of hard times in my life. PS, he and his parents are okay now, there is a super cute clip of him performing at a concert that his parents attended and he bowed fully to the ground, on hands and knees, which in Korean culture means ultimate respect.
@mirvale874 жыл бұрын
What i got from this song is, he has struggled with labels other people have have pushed on him Because of the meanings and curses other people associate with those labels, but when he came to understand that he doesn't have to sell out to make his music, he doesn't have to change to be an idol, and when the support net around him grew stronger, he was able to change his view and accept that YES he's an idol, fuck all these assholes that think it makes him less of a rapper. Show Me The Money is a reality show where idol rappers generally make an appearance to "prove they're real rappers", suga refused to do it, and he got a Lot of criticism for it. Here he is saying it's not that he didn't do it because he was scared, he didn't do it because he saw no need to prove himself outside his work. And fuck that is sexy. His mental battles and his sorrow created a strong artist. His mixtape Agust D as a whole was a story about his life until 2016. It had lighter tracks, tracks about the fame monster and tracks about depression and not knowing what to do. That mixtape is beautiful and raw.

yoongi has stated previously that he struggles from depression, social anxiety, and ocd. (and i want people to understand that ocd is not keeping things neat and having them look aesthetically pleasing. having with ocd can involve dealing with highly intrusive thoughts that control someones life and obsessive and compulsive tendencies that can make someone incapable of living what we would consider a “normal” life.) we don’t know what kind of ocd yoongi has, but it’s obviously a disorder that has heavily impacted his life and potentially career.

As someone who has suffered from major depression and a severe anxiety disorder with slight OCD for years, this song really spoke to me on a different level and I sobbed the first time I heard it. I go back to it alot during my low periods because sometimes you just want to feel understood. Yoongi was so raw on this track and I felt every single word as if he were speaking for me personally. He learned to not let his issues define him but he still struggles, just like I am trying to do myself. It's one of the reasons why Suga is one of my main biases alongside Hobi....he gets it. He gets what so many ARMY struggle with but are either afraid to talk about or just feel misunderstood. I know that feeling and I love him all that much more for opening himself up like this because not many artists would.

He has talked about his social anxiety/phobia a lot: interviews, Burn The Stage (ep 7 i think). On an interview with Naver in 2018, he said that it seems to be something he'll have to deal with for life, but wants to send the message that we can find a way to "study" this together and find a way to live well He also said he never wanted to be famous, just to make music. "I would never take music lightly/as a joke. Do you know how hard it was for me to to this point?" he tweeted in 2014

man, theres so much i could say about this song- i was so emotional when i first heard this song back in 2016, he had never really opened up to this extent back then and you could feel that this song and mixtape was getting a lot off his chest. even before i read the lyrics, i could hear the raw emotion in his voice and it gave me chills. i think the part of the song that hits me the most is "shit, shit, i get it, please stop", you can really hear his exhaustion from everything he's gone through, and that feeling of wanting to give up because you're just _tired_ . this song means to much to me, ive been considering getting a lyric from the song or the title or something as a tattoo since i first heard it. to know that he's been in that dark place and felt the way ive felt yet managed to get to where he is today is really inspiring and comforting. its also a pretty big deal that someone with his platform is talking so openly about mental health and things like suicide in korea where it's still a pretty taboo topic. they have the 4th highest suicide rates in the world (used to be 1st), these things need to be talked about and seeking professional help needs to be normalized.

Both Yoongi and RM in particular had to deal with the change over from being a planned rap group to being an idol group. Before BTS and BigHit, there was a certain perception of what it meant to be an idol and I always took that to be a bigger part of his struggle. I understood him to be giving in, not to a darkness exactly, but to realizing that he IS an idol, especially if that means that he can still tell his story and make his music and not be defined by the label of idol. I saw another comment explaining Show Me the Money pretty well so I'll leave that be. Great reaction! After listening to The Last, I always find it refreshing to listen to So Far Away on the same album. I'd recommend the version with Jin and Jungkook though!

This song and RM's "Do You" are essentially Suga's and RM's final nail in the coffin to the whole "You're idols, not real rappers!" backlash coming from the hip-hop scene in Korea in the late 2010's when BTS debuted. He says that his social depression started at 18 which would be when he joined BTS. It's sad to know those immature comments made by narrowminded hip-hop heads affected his self-identity to the point of suicidal thoughts but thankfully in the end he resolved that yes, "his address is idol" and while other rappers pose and pretend to be hip-hop, he works hard. Yoongi is right, he didn't need to go on shows like "Show Me the Money" to be validated as a "real" rapper. Many rappers from that show had a very superficial understanding of hip-hop. As a hip-hop and general music loving fan, Suga, J-Hope and RM have a much more sincere and unpretentious approach to music.

Agust D is one of them. So, when he smiles these days, it is like sunshine. It feels like with D2, he has reconciled himself with who he is, the total package. It shows in the diversity of the tracks, each song being musically mature, confident and satisfying! He says he is no longer angry. Now we WAIT for other passions to ‘infire’ him... social justice (we saw some of that in UGH!) Hope, Love? A lot of people won't go into the deeper agust d lyrics. Idk if you know but addressing mental health is still kinda taboo in Korea and it's really borderline unheard of for idols to talk about at all. Especially talking about going to therapy? You don't usually hear about it until something drastically bad happens to them. There's a lot of stigma surrounding it all still. His lyrics are actually what made me love BTS. I relate so much and that matters when you want to be an authentic musician/artist and not considered "just" a pop act- the relatability. As others have stated, yes he's dealt with depression, social phobia, and OCD (intrusive thoughts). He lived a whole life before BTS and it shows in his lyrics. I'll check out more of your videos!

So much I want to say here, but first I wanted to say that I freaking live you for using Faith as an example of someone who fucks up and doesn't think she's redeemable, so she just lets go and plunges into the darkness (until Angel, whose rock bottom is literally a soulless serial killer) helps her realize she is can save herself, and indeed is worth saving. They were my favorite characters in that universe for exactly that reason. Among many. I was a huge Buffy/Angel geek back in the day! As to Yoongi, well... of a group of guys I respect and adore all together and as individuals, Suga is the one I really feel the deepest connection to. This song, especially, hits so hard, and so close to home. I admire and respect him so much as a human being. He has always been seen as somehow cold and detached (at least in the past. Now he's the often warmest, funniest, and happiest of the group), but he is the member who metaphorically opens a vein and exposes the mist vulnerable parts of himself to his fans. He openly talks about topics that are verboten and socially taboo in his culture. He has truly done amazing things to try to normalize discussion of mental health. Just saying he went to a psychiatrist was a huge deal. The part that is bleeped out, as you surmised, was about the shrink asking him if he was ever suicidal, and he admitted he had been. He also references a time early in BTS' career that he had such a bad anxiety attack that he couldn't go on stage, and hid in the bathroom. SLEPT on the bathroom floor. This man has fought (and probably still does) some dark demons, and yet he is at the top of the world, a respected artist and prolific producer. He has all the riches and fame he ever dreamed of, but he has chosen to use that power to help pthers. He says he wants to get a degree in counseling so he can help people like him. I mean... He could just float in a sea of adulation, fame, money, and ego all on his own, but instead he stays with BTS because he believes in what they stand for, and what they can do for the world.

what you said about him accepting the darkness that's inside of him, that toxic part of us everyone has but in his case it seems to be worse, reminded me of Shadow, he addresses this in that song as well. Also, I love the font at the top, very pumpkin like ☺️

I'm glad you reacted to this lyric video!! It's one of the best ones. I wanted to watch this way earlier but I was watching Hamilton the Movie with my friends. So, The Last is the song that kept me alive in 2017, this song and actually his whole mixtape is what kept me going. I can relate so much to this song without the fame and success aspect I guess, but i can relate. I struggled with depression from around the age of 13 to the age of 21, I've been on the verge of s**cide several times, and in 2017 when i was finally going to go thru with it, BTS saved my life with their LOVE YOURSELF era. I've been listening to BTS since 2015 but as a casual listener, 2016 was hell to me, actual hell, there wasn't a day where i didn't have a panic attack and it just- it was hard, i found sollace in Hamilton but it wasn't enough, I was in a very, very bad spot, and in 2017 BTS saved my life, especially Yoongi and Jimin, they helped me a lot. I owe them.

It's his story...he is touching on a number of things here. The main part is his fight with depression. He has said that he suffered from it and seeked out help. The altered voice of the doctor asks if he has had suicidal thoughts, and he says yes. I have read that depression, mental health and especially suicidal thoughts are somewhat of a taboo subject in SK, especially with public figures. Or atleast it was when this song was released and that's why the doctor's question is altered to be unclear. And this makes the song that much more powerful coz he is putting it out there that such things exist and it is okay or preferred to seek out help. No need for shame. He also addresses the rappers who accused him of selling out. He was ridiculed beyond imagination, him and RM, for debuting as an idol. Also, " show me the money" is a reality type rap show, I believe, which BTS haven't gone on. He is saying that it's not that he couldn't do it, it's just that he doesn't want to. He also touches on that nothing that he/they have achieved has come easy. He had a shoulder injury during his trainee days while doing a delivery job. (The effects are still there.) He had the job to support his college then. He has said in an interview that at the time he was scared to tell BH that he injured himself coz he thought they might kick him out, and even danced/trained with the injured shoulder making it worse. But then Bang PD nim found out, paid for the treatment, plus for his college tuition, and told him that Yoongi should have said it right away. Back to this song, he says who else would do it? Who else can make it all happen if not him after all that suffering and hardship. Yoongi has talked about how he originally only wanted to be a producer and started rapping to put him on that path. And that many had 'cheated' him by not paying for his songs (before BH). So he is accepting that with his team, aka BTS & BH, fans and family beside him, he will fly and succeed no matter what. This song always feels like a testament to me. Him accepting his hardships and depression, getting all the required help and deciding to move forward.

I first saw them perform on tv around Dec 2015 when they perform Run on a music show, I love the performance but Im not into Korean idols that time. I watch their mv's not knowing the story or the struggles they've been thru. His mixtape was released around August 2016 when I myself was struggling mentally (broken family and my 5yrs old dog died) I still remember the day when I first listen to his mixtape I was looking for words to express my pain but Im not good putting up my feelings into words and I really cried hard that day I was just in my room replaying The Last and So far away how he beautifully express whats in my mind also that time. After that I started digging up to them I started loving them and up until now their songs brings me courage, comfort and hope. Whenever Im having a bad day, Im frustrated, Im mad, im lonely I just see myself playing their songs. All of their achievements makes me feel so proud and happy. They made a big impact in my life, they made me fight for myself.💜 Thankyou so much for this, I'm just happy when people discovers them. They are so genuine, humble and kind hearted.💜 Im happy I saw your channel in my recommendation lists. 💜💜💜💜

I'm so happy that you finally got to this song. It's definitely a track off his first mixtape that I found to be one of the most intense and personal. It hit me the hardest when I read his lyrics. I remember it like yesterday. I had been going through something at the time and took a minute to listen. I had no idea what I was about to experience. Short story short, it's a song that brought me out of depression and gave me hope. It's amazing how someone like yoongi can do that. I hope you get to the rest of his songs on both mixtapes soon. ~Stay safe always ♡

I thought you might like to have some context to the stories in the song. 1. They were struggling to make ends meet so Yoongi did a delivery job when he had an accident and busted his shoulder. He used to b-boy before the accident but is not really able to anymore. He hid the accident from Big Hit thinking they will take him out of BTS. Here's the story from his own mouth kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXKXnpiPgZmkbJI 2. That bleeped section in the song is the doctor asking him if he had considered suicide. In Korea, references to suicide is censored. 3. When he talks about wanting to forget the memories of a concert. I know Army (who know about this) get sad about this but since you probably won't know about it, I thought I should share the information with you. Yoongi had a breakdown due to social anxiety and couldn't perform. Tae I think had an illness. Big Hit refunded the audience for the concert. A traumatizing experience for the boys. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKrCpnWYf7l-jpY 4. Yoongi actually spoke up about his depression in a vlive in 2014. I think by around 2018, he had become a much more stable person emotionally. Actually from 2016, when he realized that their struggles were over, he really opened up more and more. Smiled more. I think everything else is pretty self explanatory..

Once Buffy was onscreen I couldn't focus on a single word you said, but I somehow still understood! This song is still my favorite Agust D song, it is really important to me. It just touches me ever time, you can hear the desperation in his voice and the lyrics are hitting me deeply, in a way that I really relate to them. Then, when it crescendos after the break in the music, that's the moment that I'm always looking forward to, when he's not holding back anymore and just let's everything out. Still waiting for that moment myself

I love your reaction to this and your thought process behind the lyrics. The first time i heard this song I has devasted but in the end everything he wrote his truth and he is raw and he doesn´t want to hide it from anyone. It takes soooo much courage to say everything he wanted to. I think you are right about the "reality ego", but the fandom has grown soooo much since 2016... I think he knows in general how his fandom is, the fact that he adressed that nobody is doing it like him so we can be proud makes me remember something he said in an interview one time about that he can´t explain how that much people stay by their side for so much time and that a lot of fans are misunderstood beacuse of their liking which is true. I´m actually so proud of him, the amount of respect I have for this man is just out of this world. To me these boys have the purest souls I think him and namjoon had a really hard time getting used to be "idols" because of their undergroud rapper beginnings but they did so good. Besides all the hate he got, he has been having inside troubles since predebut but im happy he is better now, you can notice. This is getting so long now.... Thank you for reacting and understanding him :) borahae💜

Just some lyrics explanation, the line where he mentioned his shoulder injury, it was referring when he was a trainee (before debut around 2011-13), he was doing delivery part time jobs by motorcycle, and he got hit by a bus, I believe, and crushed his shoulder He never told anyone about it because he was afraid that the company won't let him debut because of it, he went through the whole training process enduring the pain, he used to be able to do b-boy moves, but can't anymore because of it For the 'Show Me The Money' bit, it's a rap competition TV show, haters (especially other underground rappers) were demanding him to go on the show to prove himself as a rapper, but he never did....CUZ HE DOESNT NEED TO, shows are for shows, his music now trends no.1 worldwide whenever he releases them, there was never the need for him to prove himself to brainless haters
@sruticranjith51944 жыл бұрын
I think maybe you can react to their recent festa party. The boys were talking abt how yoongi is more cheerful and ready to open up abt his thoughts to them now. Also “show me the money” is a rap program which so many rappers participate in sk. So bts rappers were mocked that if they were great rappers why didnt they go up in the show. (Its a shitty show honestly). So he was calling them out. Comparing his gmfirst mixtape to now i think he has become a lot better. This song was revolutionary and important to be released in korea becs, mental health is a very taboo and touchy topic in sk. Depression or social anxiety evn visiting a psychiatrist is not seen well in sk. As an Indian its the same in my country too. So it was a shock of the brutal honesty with which he opened up to his fans. The whole song is just chilling to the core.

The part where he said he wanted to erase the memory of a concert & hid himself in the bathroom bc he was scared of people, he was referring to the December 2015 HYYH concert in Kobe World Memorial Hall, Japan. Yoongi & Taehyung were rushed to a nearby hospital after facing sudden nausea during rehearsal. By recommendation of medical staff, the two were unable to come up on stage. This caused the concerts to get cancelled afterwards. We never heard Taehyung’s perspective but Yoongi wrote a letter about it a month after (January 2016). Although the fans respected their decision to not perform, he said he still felt really bad for hurting many people by not performing that day & he was fed away by guilt, anger, & regret, causing him to never sleep well thereafter. But i’m really glad he feels much better now :(

I have watched every "react" video of The Last but you wee the only who was able to give me a whole new perspective. I just realizes that his parents took him to a psychiatrist during his trainee days. But before that he had a huge fight with his parents because they didnt support him on going to Seoul to pursue a music career. He was only 17 years old (18 in Korean age) at that time and had not even graduated from high school. Thank you for making me realized this information. Thats why when he was training in BigHit, he took the last year of high school in Seoul where RM and him are schoolmates (there are photos of RM's graduation with Suga in the internet).

It's actual story, I believe. The first part is he's talking about the past - his younger self. After a pause, he stated the current situation of 2016. They were not this popular yet. But, they were on tour across the globe already. As a three years old Korean group, it’s a big deal. And when he said he was 18, actually he was 17. :D The way of Korean counting age is one year older than international age. After passing his 17th birthday, he became 18 years old. And Yoongi's angressiveness in Agust D persona and BTS Suga is quite consistent. Because, rappers in BTS wrote their own lyrics. He's ambitious and he also found he hit the wall and got pressured even after he joined BigHit cuz they're idols from smaller company and didn't get much chance. Still, they managed to rise above other groups from big companies and got rookie awards. They had stress to be part of final lineup and debuted. After debuted, there’re hundreds of groups out there and got pressured not to be disbanded. He also had identity crisis at early stage. He and RM were underground rappers when they signed with BugHit, they were supposed to be hip-hop group. But, Bang-Si Hulk changed the decision and some of the rappers left. Suga and RM stayed and they became part of idol group’s rappers. The rappers from BTS got criticisms from hip-hop community as well as idol community. Idol community saw them as not look good enough. :) Didn’t meet beauty standard. :) Hip-Hop community saw them as wearing make-up and became gays/girls as idol groups. Anyway, they learned how to dance and play along with cutesy things. He has identity crisis but he accepted. The song “Idol” is about that. They don’t care or less care whatever people said idol or artists or real rappers or idol rappers. And “What Do You Think” reflects on that and got explosion. Again, “What do you think” was written in 2018 and released in 2020. He’s telling the real thing, at least that’s how he feels. And he’s always burning something. Although, he became more adult in D-2 mixtape and he also admitted he didn’t have much reason or anger to become as explosive as he was in his first mixtape. He’s glad that he released the mixtape at that time. Now, his way of thinking and the way he sees things are quite changed. By the way, it’s taboo in Korea that artists express mental health let alone sing/rap when Agust D mixtape came out. The idol groups usually maintain smiling faces and polish faces and act like everything is ok.

Honestly bts sharing their mental struggles is a huge part of what makes them so special for a lot of us... they’re not afraid to be vulnerable... to put their pain out there in the form of a song so they can help others to not feel alone. A few of them really have been through it mentally and if you really listen to them when they’re asked about themselves personally. Like jungkook recently did this interview and even though at the age of 14-15 ... he has been the main vocalist, sub rapper, on the dance line and the center if their performances since debut. Even though he was two years younger than the next oldest... that’s a tremendous responsibility for such a young boy.. he had it way back then so much that these roles were given for him to take on. Anyway, he has been called the golden maknae since debut bc he picks things up quickly and he’s literally amazing at anything he tries or wants to do.. it’s pretty nuts really when you see the compilations of his talent , work and effort it’s really crazy. However he said that he envies the way others see him and he doesn’t feel like he’s that at all so he has to try to be that person for us... he said he doesn’t work hard enough and that he’s not good enough..which is insane bc we all know that every single one of these guys kill themselves to be their best every single time and they push far beyond what we can ever imagine. It’s heartbreaking hearing that they still feel that way so strongly. Each member is a gift to this group and really to the world with the positive impact they’re having on the youth especially. They’re a perfect example that mental struggles can effect anybody, who has anything and at anytime ... it’s important to remember that they’re human. Love these dudes and everything they do!!

True story. And Yoongi still today talks about his importance of finding the balance between him as Min Yoongi the man and Suga of BTS and Agust D. In 2018 he spoke to being the happiest in his entire life. The best thing I know is I am so happy BH provides all of BTS with counseling. Mental Health in SK is pretty taboo. (Many idols have committed suicide, sadly.) Bang PD puts a lot of value in their mental health. And yes, Yoongi is an introvert. You should react to First Love by Suga. Its amazing.

The Last along with Agust D mixtape came out Agust 2016 on SoundCloud only. Later, I think, fans complained about it and moved to other streaming platforms in 2018. As soon as, it moved to paid streaming platforms, almost two years old mixtape appeared on the chart. "The Last" was at least almost four years old. It's not from 2018. Still, two tracks - Intro and Agust D - two songs are on SoundCloud only.

Agust D the last -> Shadow -> Daechwita. I wonder if anyone will find the connection. Agust D developed after killing Min Yoongi and became Suga's Third alter ego. After that we went on to shadow where Suga was having internal war fare with Agust D, we heard both Agust D and Suga on that track ( it was like hearing NF's intro 3) . Then moving onto Daechwita, after having the fight with Suga, Agust D broke from his leash and develed into his path of the currupted king. Suga came to kill Agust D. Before he became too dangerous but we didn't see that he killed Agust D, that means he isn't dead yet. I wonder what's next
