Thanks for showing the recommended upgrades and parts that help eliminate the kit faults. I’ve watched other build uploads and they spoke about the build and doing the upgrades as well but you gave up the part numbers and manufacturers. The kit during the build stages and finished, apart from paint work, looks better than imagined. Keep up the great work Adam!👍🤓🇦🇺

Regarding the wing slogan, I've seen a tamiya guide book picture with "flying high!" stickered on the wing.Tamiya base has the picture.The new motor mount also doesn't make use of the pinion spacer anymore,perhaps to allow steel pinions or non tamiya brand pinions to be lined up to the spur gear by distance now instead.One last thing I noticed was the thrust races used in the original have now been substituted for a plastic bush and a washer,I had the original issue when I was young and have purchased this re-re and I am at a loss as to why they changed the thrust race,I ordered 2 x 5x11x4.5 Thrust Bearing from RCBearings to build the bevel gear to prop shaft connections like the original.I would imagine new faster motors or brushless set ups would create a problem with the plastic bushing and washer pretty quickly as the thrust races were there to ensure smooth rotation of the bevel gears under load.hope this info helps and good work on your fine collection :)

Hi, I have built a re re Thunder Shot & Thunder Dragon ( sand Chassis as Re are Terra Scorcher) and I can tell you they are identical to the original I’m many ways. The markings printed on the parts is pretty identical. The re re has some differences like Saying ABS plastic etc.. it’s one of those things if you have a brand new Built vintage and a re re build side by side it would be extremely hard to pick them apart, main issue is decals and sponsorship changes.

Thanks for your tips Adam. Picking up the suspension arm set (53301) as recommended but might not install the A5 brace. Would any spacers or washers be required to eliminate slop? Are the rods the correct length?
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA4 жыл бұрын
The rods maybe to short depending on which brace you buy. I’m guessing Shims maybe required if some movement is noticed.

Interesting vid it's good to see the difference! Tamiya really did do a fantastic job on their kits back in the day! I remember as an over excitable kid the buzz of seeing blister packs lol but not many about in tamiya kits nowadays but once again down to costs but a real shame still though! But nice kit and let's hope tamiya keeps it up! Cheers mate. I will look out for your collection tour vid😁👍

Interesting to see the box artwork has been changed a little. The heat resistor has been deleted understandably as well as the battery has been changed from the Tamiya to a blanked out blue generic one along with a few decal changes. It's a shame the presentation layout has been removed but I guess that's to make the box smaller and save on shipping and shelf space. The manual being just black and white was to save money on printing costs I guess. All these little money saving changes makes me think Tamiya is trying to increase its profits to cover the predicted unit sales of this rere kit or low its risk if it doesn't sell. That said the price of the kit is competitive so it could be Tamiya want to try and keep the kit low to improve its chances of selling. Now most people who collect Tamiya cars like this I feel would pay a little more for the kit if it was made to be a little special. This is the Kyosho business model for its Turbo Optima and I feel that worked really well. What do you all think?
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA4 жыл бұрын
Yes I totally agree Gavin. I’m sure Tamiya know there market and target group and have made the appropriate changes to keep costs low and volumes high for Hobbyists.
@schuttrostig57294 жыл бұрын
The body in the original has a cutout for the resistor, but is it also slightly diffrent shaped and what is the diffrence? Are the CVAs also diffrent or do you only need to assemble the rere ones? I think they are completly diffrent, but can you show? Which diffrences in the manual, specially the radio mount part always changes from original to rere and for the people that want to "backdate" their rere the original mounting of the msc page is pretty intresting. Are the parts all there or do some parts miss? Is it possible to mount a msc on the rere? Did suspension arms change if you hold them side by side? Are the plastic parts the same color, apart from the ones you showed?
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for Watching 😎 The Body is the same apart from the pre cut resistor section. CVA’s are the same and require building The manual is the same and all the parts for a Vintage retro build are included in the parts trees. The Plastics are the same, the Blue lower arms are slightly darker plastic and I believe they are stronger. The adjustment arms are now turnbuckle , and Tamiya has replaced the blue ends with black for the re re.
