What makes this really emotional for the second war cry is the fact that we don’t see Australian Indigenous peoples doing their war-cry in any International setting. You will not see the Australian Wallabies do an Australian war-cry in front of the New Zealand All Blacks. For them to have a platform to do this in response to a Haka, is truly amazing. It’s not about what team out did the other, it’s the fact that both teams could lay down and accept the challenge

Hey my bro. The Aboriginals challenge is in the form of a war cry/dance. The sounds you hear from them are the sounds of the animals of Australia. Each mob or tribe of the Indigenous people of Australia affiliate themselves spiritually to a particular animal. This is where they draw their spiritual power from and the heart to go into battle. So they adopt the animals calls and movements.

Shot my Brother, Thank you for educating us on your culture. Share the treasure you hold with the teachings to all people. Thank you and God Bless. As with the Maoris, My people the Haka is a challenge laid down to the other tribe before battle, as you say trying to intimidate the opposing tribe while also drawing all the power of your ancestors before battle. At the end when they touch noses together is called a Hongi. That is connecting the ancestors together from the other person also a form of respect. Lovely to hear another Brother from another culture give an honest opinion. No offense can be taken if the Brother don't know any better. Best to educate. Tu Meke Brother.

Bro, I'm registered as a Maori chief by the Maori court which is a Higher court than Elizabeth. The treaty of Waitangi says so. That Haka was feared by all who tried to invade Aotearoa. Even today, it can intimidate a team out of the game before it even starts. Look at the domination of the All Black's in world rugby. The Australian Aboriginal dance is incredibly spiritual if you have experienced one in the bush with elders not on a media choreographed spectacle.

Aussie here... the war cry isn't really a haka, though both a war dance. The main difference is aboriginal dance is very much about story telling. Most aboriginal dance are telling a story eg, the sound, music, animal sounds, their movements etc. It's all story telling. Allot of it is rooted in "dream time", which is aboriginals version of the beginning or creation of everything, (aboriginals are really, really old. Over 50,000 years they have been here). If you watch the war cry with that mind set, you'll sort of be able to interpret it to an extent.

The Australian indigenous side's war dance is only new, they have too many aboriginal languages as there are over a thousand different tribes or clans and therefore language cannot be defined in their war dances so they use their dreamtime culture of observing animals and totems in their hunts, many noises they make are mimicking animals that are native to Australia, so in time they will improve on it as they perform it more for future challenges. The guys with the feathers are the Thursday islanders, Thursday island is north east of Queensland and is a archipelago of islands that are also closest to Papua New Guinea. The thursday peoples are different to the Aboriginal mainland tribes but are still indigenous to Australia. So the two cultures are combined together vs the maori culture. It is easy for the Maori to perform the haka as the indigenous language in NZ is one single dialect whereas Australia has many different indigenous dialects and languages are totally different to each other like the Sioux nation are different to the Apache nations in their native lingo. One last mention is the nose to nose greeting, it is a Maori tradition called the 'Hongi' it is a greeting or kissing. (pashing or lip to lip or tongue to tongue kissing with the mouth was not known by the Maori in their culture until white man arrived, me thinks)🤔

The Haka performed by the Kiwis is different from the All Black Haka. NRL is rugby league. The Aborigini's are indigenous to Australia.

Kia ora bro, the haka is a war dance but it is also a war cry. And it would be fair to say that even the indigenous people of Australia will have their own haka or war cry too however theirs is more likened to telling a Story whereas the Maori haka will be more about intimidating their opponent. At the end of the day, Maori (indigenous of New Zealand) and Aborigini (indigenous of Australia) are the people of the land and we respect each other, but we are very different people.
