A very sensible answer. Very similar to what Mufti Taqi Usmani from the Deobandis said. I'd go further and say that even with the differences on Ilm al-Ghayb, Hazir-Nazir, Noor-Bashr, etc are not from the necessities of religion (REGARDLESS OF THEIR BEING CORRECT OR INCORRECT) so should not be made yardsticks by which individuals are expelled from being Sunni. In fact, a person can remian neutral and ignorant of these issues and still be a fully fledged Sunni, so why not adopt this approach when it may be able to unite the Sunni community on one Aqeedah?

Why Deobandis are expelled from being Sunni? The reason is not the differences on Ilm al-Ghayb. These differences predate the barelvi-deobandi dispute. The real reason for which deobandis are expelled is the way they (deobandis) spoke on Ilm al-Ghayb. They (deobandis) compared the Knowledge of Ghaib of Prophet S.A.W with the knowledge of psychos, animals etc (Astaghfirullah). If some sect can't have respect for Prophet S.A.W, they are out of being Sunni regardless of their beliefs.

Shaykh Asrars older speech, "The Mawlid Fact NOT Fiction", was one of the most hard hitting speeches i have heard to date in response to the najdis on this topic. Although some will see this speech as a backtrack from Shaykh Asrar. It actually isn't. Its a clarification of certain points. And it is setting the record straight. Rest assured, Imam Asim, Shaykh Asrar and Hazrat Allama Pir Saqib Shaami (Hh) are all on the same page regarding the blessed Mawlid.

No, Dawah man and his crew will never be on imam Suyutis level thats just silly. Abdur Rahman Hassan uses many high caliber scholars for his position. I can ask you the same question. Are you saying that Imam Suyuti ra is more knowledgeable than Abu Bakr Umar Uthman ra etcetc???? Plus, we have MASSIVE giants who back us. Mujaddid athani Imam Rabbani Ahmad Faruqi Al Sirhindi ra in his Letters mentions that, "We do not do this(Mawlid) and i dont allow it, but we dont deny it(because of other scholars)." And then he also quotes Bahuaddin Bukhari ra. "We dont do this(Mawlid), nor do we say it is bad."

John Smith You have good points, let me wrap up. The reality is this, Mawlid is permissible(Within strict guidelines). At the same time there are Awliya like Imam Rabbani ra who dont like it(Although he does not say it is haram, but strongly disapproves of it). Can you read Arabic or Persian or Turkish and Urdu? Because ONLY SOME of Imam Rabbanis letters have been translated. You can find it in 273rd Letter, and 266th Letter. 266th Letter is long, it is near the end. Im not sure if you have ever read Mektubat(Letters), but it is AMAZING. SubhanAllah. He also strongly criticizes loud thikr and nasheeds etc. Lets forget about Mawlid for a second. Brother read all of 266th letter you will be amazed. These are the Ayat he uses. "Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded."Surah Al-A'raf verse 51. "And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded." Surah Al-An'am verse 70. Assalamu alakum wrwb.

You maybe surprised but the teacher of my teacher القاضي العمراني اليمني who is a follower of Imam As-Shawkaani ر and has the shortest chains to him and his Asaaneed in إتحاف الأكابر and he gave a fatwa that mawlid is praiseworthy :) He is considered a salafi but I would say he is a true salafi because anyone who studied the deen in depth would come to this conclusion and only those with leanings to certain groups find it difficult to be unshackled in their knowledge. I went to the mawlid of Sheikh Muhsin AN- Najjar and my heart was filled with so much love and noor. I’ve seen Bro Asrar develop a lot of maturity in the last couple of years and I think his debates have helped him appreciate the differences between Muslims a lot more. This is a sign of someone benefiting from their knowledge and is a very good sign.

🌷Hazrat Haji Imdadullah رضي الله عنه‎ was the Sheikh of Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, Qasim Nanotwi, Ashraf ‘Ali Thanwi, Mahmood al-Hasan,Husayn Ahmad Madni & numerous other Deobandis. 🌷 In his treatise ‘Faisala-e-Haft Mas’la’, he warned Deobandi scholars for spreading misgivings in the public on certain issues, one among them was their stance on the Mawlid, on which he made his stance very clear saying, ‘‘This faqir’s stance (lit. mashrab) is that I attend the Mawlid gathering and I consider it a means of achieving blessings hence I celebrate it every year. I experience pleasure and grace during Qiyam’’. Urdu Transliteration: ‘‘Mashrab Faqir ka yeh hai keh Mehfil-e-Mawlud mein shareek huwta huwn balkeh zaree`ah-e-barakat samajh kar har saal mun`aqid karta hun. Auwr Qiyam mein lutf auwr lazzat paata huwn.’’ The Shaykh’s purpose behind penning ‘Faisila-e-Haft Mas`alah’ was to bring the scholarly dispute to a minimum in the subcontinent. 🌷 In Shama’im-e-Imdadiya he said: ‘Our scholars cause a lot of quarrel on the Noble Mawlid issue. Yet however many scholars have upheld its permissibility. When there is a perspective of its permissibility then why are they so extreme? And imitating the Haramain is sufficient proof for us.' ( the largest gathering of Eid Milad un Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) at that time used to be held in Masjid Al Haraam in Makkah) In a letter to Shaykh Ashraf `Ali Thanawi, a Mureed of Haji Imdadullah says, ‘‘Didn’t the Mawlid gatherings of Haji sahib, those which he celebrated at his abode and those which he attended in India and in Makka, consist of inviting people (tada`i), using plentiful light, applying fragrance, setting up a seating place for the public and a high raised seat for the speaker, Qiyam during the specific time of mentioning the birth, and gathering all elite and lay people for the celebration? Yes of course it did!’’ 🌷 Shaykh Ashraf `Ali Thanawi records the following incident in Ifadhaat al-Yawmiya, ‘‘Once, Hadhrat Rasheed Ahmad Gongohi Sahib was in the service of Hadhrat Haji Sahib (Imdadullah Faruqi) in Makka when someone invited Haji Sahib for a Mawlud gathering. Hadhrat (Haji Sahib) asked Mawlana (Gongohi): Mawlawi Sahib! Do you want to attend? Mawlana replied: No Hadhrat, I am not going there because I prevent people back in India (from attending the Mawlid). To utter such hideous statements about practices those have been passed on for many years through the elite men in Islam that are free of reprehensible acts, are not done with the intention of comparison to non-Muslims (tashabuh), and have a legal basis, is extremely inappropriate, may Allah most High grant the virtue of respect’’. Haji Imdadullah sent this document to Shah `Abd al-Haq Ilahabadi Muhajir Makki who endorsed it, as well as Haji Imdadullah Faruqi Makki himself who wrote the following statement and stamped it in a gathering of scholars and mureeds, in the month of Rabi` al-Awwal 1308h, ‘‘The abovementioned document is correct and is according to my (lit. faqir’s) belief’’. Shaykh al-Islam, Haji Anwarullah Faruqi from Hayderabad Dekkan also endorsed it. A Khalifa of Haji Imdadullah and early student of Shaykh Rasheed Ahmad Gongohi, Sayyid Hamza Naqawi Makki also endorsed it saying, ‘‘The beliefs mentioned in this answer are penned in the books of Sunni doctrine, and Allah knows best’’.

Yes getting blessings from the relics of the prophet SAW is permissible but from what I've read but it can never be proved that those relics or the hair actually are the prophet SAW's so best to keep away and focus on the fardh and Sunnah which is not in the gray area.

Taking blessing from the relics of the Prophet is a thing his companions used to do. They used to take blessings from his spit, the water from his wudu etc. But what relics exist now from the prophet? I really doubt any relics can be confirmed to be from the prophet during our day and age. Many people lie against the prophet and claim they have a relic from him. We should be careful.

NajdiCutioner DeodandiCutioner Companions used to take the spit and the water from rasulullahs wudu when he was alive. After he passed away sallallahu alayhi wasallam they couldn't do that anymore cause obviously. So they sought blessings other ways like the pulpit. Ibn Umar used to touch. But how are we going to find his hair and spit and stuff? Subhan Allah, how can we just believe anyone that says "i have the hair of rasulullah". I really doubt that.

Cutty Flam Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an, “And their Prophet said to them: ‘the sign of his kingship is that there would come to you an ark in which there is tranquility of hearts from your Lord, and there are something left on the relics of the respectable Musa and the respectable Haroon, the angels raising it would bring. No doubt, in it there is great sign for you if you believe”. (Surah Al Baqarah Verse 248). Hafidhh ibn Kathir and Qadi Shawkani write: In the box there was Musa and Haroon’s clothes, Musa’a stick, and pieces of the Old Testament and some things of the previous Prophets, which had touched their bodies. When Bani Isra’il went to war, they took that box with them and they used to win. [Tafsir ibn Kathir and Tafsir Fathul Qadir by Hafidhh ibn Kathir and Qadi Shawkani] From the above, it has been proved that it is permissible to keep the possessions of the pious for blessings.

People asked the individual, 'why did you take the cloth, when the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) liked wearing this'. The individual replied: that he was not going to wear the cloth. He said that: 'When I die I want to be buried in this cloth as it is blessed' When the person died he was buried in the cloth. [Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Labaas and Kitab-ul-Janaais]

Cutty Flam Hafidhh ibn Kathir writes: Khalid bin Waleed Radi-Allahu-unhu had a hat. In the hat he put two of the Prophet’s Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallams hair. Once he was in the battle of Yarmouk. The battle got very tense. Khalid’s hat dropped onto the ground. He got off his horse and picked up the hat. After the war a person said to Khalid bin Waleed: 'You had a cheap hat and to pick it up during a war is not a wise thing to do'. Khalid replied: 'In that hat I had the Prophet’s (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam)s hair, the blessing from that hair gives me victory in every war. No reference of the specific hadith's. Just stating hadith is from muslim or bukhari isn't enough. If you're trying to educate people, kindly do it correctly by including the hadith numbers so people can verify. Secondly, the companions praising the prophet pbuh is not a part of religion. The prophet pbuh didn't ask them to do that. Allah has asked us to praise him and best are his name's to recite and praise him, how many gatherings do we see where Allah is praised? Kindly guide people to the practice that is prescribed in the Quran and advised by the prophet pbuh, instead of guiding people towards biddah of doing mawlid gatherings without using the name. May Allah guide us all to the straight path, ameen.

Why would you want to waste your energy and money and time to promote Bidah? It would be much better if you do all that to promote Sunnah of Rasool(s.a.w). Nabi(s.a.w) used to Celebrate his Milaad by Fasting on Mondays, and thats the ONLY Sunnah way, tell people that instead of preaching all Bidaah ways.
