I pretty much grew up with his legendary recording of Poinciana coming through the radio in my family home in NYC. There was always something magical about those shifts in tempo and references to other musical styles. How those final notes ended like a period at the end of a sentence. article. And decades later in Florida, had the extreme good fortune to meet and interview this master (and his gifted protege Hiromi), for a magazine article in relation to a performance he would be giving in Daytona Beach. Thank you Mr Jamal for the brilliance you bestowed on the world over your 93 earth years. Fly smoothly into the Light. 💖🙏🏼💖🙏🏼
