"those strings aren't for bringing it up... They're for holding it down." Moments later the mummy is pulled up by said strings
@vigneshkr70725 жыл бұрын
Those chains were meant to suspend it in the mercury pool which pulled it after Nick severed the anchoring chain making the counter weight pull the coffin up.
@vigneshkr70725 жыл бұрын
@Elysia Duncan wait you said it already I didn't noticed that I think I saw some nonsense like chains holding stuff down which is physically impossible. And let me explain it clearly the coffin was litterally hanging down the chains. The idea behind it is probably to make it suspend in the pool of mercury.
@user-sc9oy1kz8g5 жыл бұрын
Why suspend it when you could just drop it to the bottom so no one could easily bring it up by simply breaking a (rather flimsy) chain
@vigneshkr70725 жыл бұрын
@@user-sc9oy1kz8g maybe guys who did this imprisoning thing wants to make sure the coffin is completely surrounded by mercury.

Nothing wrong with that. We don’t think of the supernatural as fact. So if you go on a journey to find something, find that something hidden in what you think is a prison it won’t change the fact that you want to see what’s hidden. People don’t go to Egypt and expect for ancient mummy’s to come to life. This is a perfect example of human curiosity.

@Brian Waas Yes yes, I know all of that. It was trying to get in on the success the superhero franchises were making, but even then, no movie ever starts with the intentions of having a sequel. If it smashes records, however, producers see it as a low-risk, high-gain venture. There would've certainly been a Dark Universe franchise, but that wouldn't have stopped a second Mummy movie. It's the same with the MCU. The Avengers was the primary story, but most of the superheroes had their own spinoff stories and sequels to those stories as well.

"This isn't a tomb, it's a prison." Then maybe you don't want to unlock it, eh? The Ancient Egyptians were very big on making sure their funeral rites were done properly to ensure a proper rest in the afterlife. If they built a tomb where it was not done properly (canopic jars, sacred spells, guardian statues), it's a good indicator that whoever is buried there was not very nice in life.

This is just my opinion mind you, but I really don't understand why this flick gets so much hate. It is NOT a remake, it is its own movie with its own characters, story line, etc. The 1999 "The Mummy" as awesome as it is, isn't even an original in its own right! In fact, it's a remake of the 1932 movie starring Boris Karloff. As for historical and mythological inaccuracies, well when has Hollywood ever been known for complete accuracy? LOL That being said, here's a fun fact: The 2017 "The Mummy" was originally going to be a continuation of the franchise with Brendan Fraser, with the O'Connell's in Latin America battling an Aztec mummy (whom was going to be played by Antonio Banderas).

Jus a theory, but ahmanet could possibly be somehow related somewhere to Ancksunamun or Nefertiri from the first two Mummy movies..hmm 🤔
@lunamusic17956 жыл бұрын
Hmm it‘d have to be Nefertiri since Nefertiri was the Pharaoh‘s Daughter and a Princess. AnckSuNamun was just the Pharaoh‘s life guard :D
@NatureLover-ji4gl6 жыл бұрын
Luna Music life guard? Maybe but actually she was supposed to be Pharaohs wife lol. & ancksunamuns backstory wasnt completely told either..she could've been royal or at least from a rich family.

The funny thing is that Anck suNamun in real life was born 1000 years after the real Imhotep XD

There's a movie theory it's set in the same universe as the Fraser mummy. She goes back before the scorpion king There's a scene where the book of the living appears briefly

If they wanted to keep the sarcophagus down, why did they leave the counterweights to raise it in place? Why have them their at all?

Question: “WHY, would they build it with the ability to be brought back up if they wanted to keep/hold it down. You would think they would have buried it for good without the ability to ever surface. In stance, it’s what some would call lazy writing.

It’s 2021 and I am watching KZbins recommendations. I remember when this movie came out and Universal was trying to cash in and catch-up with Marvels success. I didn’t really care for the whole “Dark Universe” idea, but to Tom’s credit he made sure he had final say on the script and the editing and the previews.

I don't care what all the critics say: this version of The Mummy is good, whether Tom Cruise was in it or not. Maybe Brendan Frasier should have been in it as Nick's friend and Egyptologist or have Imhotep be the other mummy fighting Ahmanet for power and domination.

They should've taken the mcu route : make standalone movies, tell us more about the characters, let the plot flow freely for the whole movie. Then cameo Russell Crowe at the end. Maybe save the whole Nick getting possessed/ immortal part for a future sequel. Let the director work independently with his own version of mummy... no studio interference, no universe establishment responsibilities. No rush. Then release the standalone Jekyll & Hyde movie next, cameo wolfman/ Dracula/ Frankenstein in it. Then establish their movies next. When the audience is familiar with the dark universe characters then start putting them together in movies. People would be more forgiving when it's that way.
