If/when you're ready to give up the back packs, you may be able to give them to Child Services for kids that have to go to foster care. That'd go for a good cause.

When you’re able to get rid of the backpacks I would suggest donating them to an organization that helps kids in foster care a lot of times they have to go to their foster home with the things in trashbags because they have nothing to put their things in

Hmm, You mentioned several times in this video ”this is Tylers favourite toy”, what about letting your kids do a toy declutter in the basement before you decorate their playarea to make sure they have their actual favourites there? 💕🦄 and maybe ask them what they want to play with in the area and don’t bring everything You got there from the beginning, letting it be a minimal space where their creativity can have space. Love the tossy tossy pile and watching the progress! 🤩💪💪💪

You are doing an amazing job! The way anxiety works for me is that I want soooo much to make one pass through that area and (1) grab all of the empty totes and put them with the rest and (2) grab the obvious garbage and get rid of it. Then (3) work on the actual "stuff." I know everyone is different, but I am sitting on my hands really wanting to grab that stuff! Lol. :)

She needs those items to serve as ad breaks between the decision making to be able to keep up momentum. They are easy wins and don't demand emotional energy. So there is logic in it. Sustainable progress must be placed above efficiency with a battle like this.

Huge Mrs. Heart follower here 🙂 looking at your space, one hoarder to another, I think the play area would be best in the front of the basement near the stairs. No goat trails, it’s easily accessible and you can store all your things in that back out of the way. Just my thoughts! I hope you and your family are doing well!

Lots of toys to give away! A fun idea would be to have kids/friends come and choose a toy to give away to the angel tree, etc. ... you can share the joy of giving and gifting! The gifter feels the joy, and so does the child who receives the toy! Just an idea! :)

Update from my post on the last video. I managed to sort through all the outgrown clothes and kept a few special items to me (my son is 14!). So a babygrow, dungarees, a hat and his snow suit. I’m so so proud of myself for achieving that! I also cleared out a wardrobe and I’ve listed on Facebook Marketplace! This week’s challenge is paper (pray for me!) I’ve collected Everything up and it’ll take me a week to go through but I’m doing a bit each day. It certainly helps and the comments I received last time really spurred me to start (no matter how small) thank you 💜

Wood is a porous material. Just wiping off the mold won't get rid of it. It's best to use vingar with tea tree oil to spray the whole bench. The tea tree oil is anti-microbial and will kill the mold at the root.

I have workbooks sitting on my bookshelf from my children from probably almost 20 years ago. It hurts just thinking about letting them go because when I open the books up, there is their little kid handwriting and it brings up all kinds of goodness in my heart.....but with those happy memories also comes the feeling of hoarding items that are negatively taking up space on my book shelve. You know the emotional cycling. The heart wins so many times over the logic. aaaahhhhh! I pray my heart starts wanting to be free!!

It just occurred to me that I hadn't shared something I learned while I decluttered, but I know it's relevant to you, Miss ❤. Because it's hard to let go of something that goes to landfill, I now consider the "end of life" of the things I buy. In addition to how long it will last, how many times I can use it, and who made it, I can think about how I will dispose of it when it stops working or serving me. If it can only be used twice and will go into a landfill, do I really need it? Is there a similar item that can be used longer? Like, a gift bag gets used many times, but a cotton fabric gift bag can be better recycled at the end of its useful life because there's no shiny plastic coating. A can opener made of mixed materials is hard to recycle, so can I find one that's all metal? I want to buy this knickknack because it's so fun, but is there something else fun I could get that won't become waste? How recyclable is this gift card? I don't want to offend! I'm not perfect over here, either. I absolutely LOVE your "use what I already have" mentality, by the way. 💜💜💜

You did so so good! Isn't it weird knowing how we are trained to be consumers. The backpacks are a complete example of that. How many of us always got a new backpack, supplies and clothes? I know I did but I look back thinking about how my old stuff would have worked most of the times but everyone else would get new so I HAD to have it all
@Siures

As a German this habit seems weird… we mostly have one bag for kindergarten, one fo elementary and one or two for High School. Reuse other school supplies as well until they fall apart. Still use my last school bag for groceries or holidays. And a few supplies for crafting. Clothes… well, it depends on the social class, but I hated shopping so I wore clothes until they showed half of my leg or had holes… Most families I know made seasonal inventory to look what the kids might need in the next season.
