Years ago I found one of those in an old shed on my grandmothers property. Fast forward 45 years and it was sitting in an outbuilding on my property covered in rust and dust. After watching this I dug it out, tried it and it worked so I now know why my grandmother kept it :)

Brought back memories of about 50 years ago...I was up against the same thing you did and I was just fifteen at the time and new nothing but managed to get her going.....I was all excited and it ran for about 10m years on different cars until one day....I ran her a bit hard and it was on 12 volts and she packed it in.....nice of you to be showing this......CHEERS

Yeah Bill, those towels are so plush the wife don't like them because they take too long to dry after washing them, when they get too dirty I'll just throw it out!! So the towels I shower with are thin ripped up crap!!☺

I love those horns.... When I was younger I had a 63 Chevy Step side truck.... My Non'c Boy was a Bud salesman in Tennessee.... He would come back down here in South Louisiana and visit often.... He would bring us gifts from the Bud plant.... He gave me a Bud horn for my truck.... The one that had the melody....... When you say Budweiser you said it all.... I wish I still had that horn now ~!~~!

I have been useing ceral boxes for gaskets for decades and have never had a problem with anything.
@volvo096 жыл бұрын
Jerome Cook I even have a cereal box / beer box gasket as the exhaust manifold gasket on my string trimmer! I expected it to last long enough to get a real gasket in the mail, but this will be it's 3rd season! It doesn't see tons of use, but I go through a few tanks of fuel each year.
@aserta6 жыл бұрын
That paper is probably better than most store bought generic gaskets since it's meant to keep all moisture out of the product. If you get the waxed type (Nestle and some others still have them) those are really worth keeping on for finer machinery where you don't just put any gasket on.
@junkyardboost83726 жыл бұрын
Jerome Cook I fixed a leaking RC engine with one onetime. It lasted a few tanks of fuel! I think the methanol and nitro eventually took a tole on it though.

One way to remember is Commutator "communicates" electricity to the motor through the brushes, armature has "arms" to hold the windings. Unless im wrong, then don't remember it that way!

Bought a new one for the Nuffield...bit of fun at shows. Last year it packed up. Took it off and cleaned it so threw it on the Clio. Packed up again, windings had rusted out. As I had wired the button, bought another. Cheap and nasty nowadays. First one I had was years ago on my Mini. It came from a pea viner. They fitted them as an alarm but did away with them so I got a freebee.

My sister needed to haul some furniture to her nurses training school in Minneapolis so our dad let her drive his new 67 Ford F250 pickup with the 4 speed. It had an Ahooga Horn that my dad got for selling seed corn. She told us that she and a bunch of nurses drove around downtown Minneapolis honking that Ahooga horn. She said besides the front seat having four of her friends in it there were about six more nurses standing and hanging on in the pickup-truck box. I don't think she could get by with that today.

Well that was fun to watch. Now my 26 Model T didn't have an AHOOGA horn. The T's horn was like an electro magnet rod that would beat on the drum back & forth and make a rather throaty kind of sound so they didn't have that little electric motor like on the Model As. Thanks so much for spending the time to make the video and I subscribed to your channel. :-)

Pretty sure that horn is 6 volt. The other screw adjusts the tension on the rotator. Back it off to release some load due to dirt and such. I have a 12v model...been working for me for 50 years. Good luck. Btw...that big screw adjusts volumne of the horn.

I've got a similar sort of horn but it's actually a hand cranked gas attack siren from WWI. They had to make it sound different from the air raid sirens so it sounds pretty much like one of these horns

The stator floats a bit. There's an adjustment, that's why the brushes are harder material because graphite brushes would chip because the klaxon horn vibrates so much.
