There are opposing forces at play when fishing for pike with a fly rod. On one hand, it is fascinating and alluring that the pike likes to take a relatively large prey and thus also potentially a huge fly. On the other hand, the joy of fly fishing itself can be jeopardized if the fly tying gets out of control in size and volume. Jesper Lindquist Andersen knows this dilemma all too well. On a daily basis, he works in the tackle shop Go Fishing in Denmark, and here he has unfortunately a little too often come across customers who have turned down for the pike fly fishing. At the same time, Jesper has painfully experienced firsthand how both arm and back have finally had to capitulate during the winter season's intense pike hunt with large heavy flies and heavy gear. But by minimizing the materials and avoiding overly water-absorbing materials, which thus become heavy to cast, but can still move some water and attract the pike, Jesper has rediscovered the joy of pike fly fishing. In this video, he demonstrates one of his favorite flies in a black version - the Easy Cast Pike Fly.
