So while it's not confirmed I have my suspicions on what Baylan Skoll is searching for. In Star Wars legends there were the Mortis Gods. The Father, the Son, and the Daughter. It may surprise you to hear this but at one point there was also a Mother. Her name was Abeloth. Originally a mortal servant to the mortis gods she eventually became so close to them that they welcomed her into the family as the mother. Her very presence managed to influence the Son and Daughter to cease their endless conflict between light and dark. However she was mortal and her time was running short. It had even reached the point where she couldn't stop the Son and Daughter from having their falling outs. Knowing she was running out of time and soon to be unable to do anything to stop her children she did something reckless. She decided to bathe in the Font of Power and the Pool of Knowledge. Both of those places are where the Son and Daughter went to to get as powerful as they were and to obtain something close to immortality. The mother wanted the same thing so she wouldn't have to leave her family behind and so she could effectively stop the Son and Daughter from fighting. Unfortunately there were consequences to her actions. She was mortal and wasn't a very strong being to begin with. As a result she was twisted into an indescribable monster more terrifying than anything even the dark side can produce. Her mind also became twisted and she lost herself. She even became a danger to the mortis gods. As a result the Father took his children and left her behind for everyone's safety. Eventually there would come a time where the Son and Daughter would have to seal her away in an unknown place because she was too dangerous to just leave the the universe at her mercy. It's likely they've had to repeat the process of resealing her or strengthening her seal for eons because it would be impossible to hold her indefinitely. In legends there were times or different timelines where she was freed or almost freed from her seal. Her voice would call out to powerful force users that were alone and vulnerable. A promise of power, a promise of knowledge, it didn't matter. She had a way to manipulate them from across the stars to come to where she is sealed and to set her free. I feel like that she may be the mysterious force that is calling out to Baylan Skoll. All the chaos in the recent years would explain why she is able to do this. The death of the jedi order, the sudden rise of darkness, the sudden fall of darkness at the hands of Luke Skywalker in episode 6, etc. The force has been through a lot of chaos in the past century and I believe I recall that her seal loosens whenever the force has seen enough chaos in a short time. And thanks to Anakin, Obi-wan, and Ahsoka the Mortis Gods are no more so they can't stop her anymore. The galaxy may be screwed if she is fully unleashed since no one can realistically stop her. Also Dave Filoni has gone on record to say that he doesn't like the Abeloth story. Despite that he has utilized the Mortis Gods and their imagery in the clone wars and rebels. And Anakin seems to have full access to the World Between Worlds. Perhaps Dave is cooking up his own version of the character to fix what he thought was wrong with that storyline.

Jess once again made me smile with her C3PO reaction. To Jess: Your health always comes first. Now about Xiono's comment about "mere droid." The camera cuts to Carson Teva sharply turning his head to look at Chopper. Teva probably knows Chopper's history and does not want any of that smoke. Xiono probably has no idea how close he came to being another mark in Chopper's rather extensive kill ledger. I still wonder why Hera did not bring up the issue of the theft of the hyperdrive and Morgan Elsbeth's ownership of much of the Correlian shipyards. While it is entertaining to hear Hera throw shade at Xiono, she should have stuck to her collected evidence and not made Mon Mothma's and Leia's job harder.
@ThomasCorp10 ай бұрын
To be fair, Xiono’s that much of an idiot that he would have brought it on himself. Like how Jess pointed out, “Also, you better watch what you say to Hera with Chopper right there.” Teva definitely knew the score. As to why no mention of the stolen hyperdrive and Morgan’s shipyard connections, one, Hera already did bring it up in the previous episode and was shut down with a “The situation’s resolved; all’s well that ends well.” response. Two, I could see Hera trying to bring it up again and Xiono dismissing it out of spite/complete idiocy and ignorance of the threat of the Imperial remnant. Tellingly, Mon Mothma does try to bring up about there being proof of the incident, and Xiono just blithely dismisses it and tries to spin it as too fantastical.

@@ThomasCorp I forgot about the testimony in the previous episode. Thanks for the reminder.
@lisamarieligreci-newton78049 ай бұрын
I agree, although I also think it's kind of an interesting line to walk. From another point of view, they really don't know if Hera is the example of a 'wartime' leader who has problems adjusting to peace. Like you say, she doesn't provide any of the actual evidence so in some ways it's reasonable for them to try and pull her up and say, hey, the stuff that works in a literal rebellion is not exactly sustainable for a functioning government. (Again, we know they have actual evidence of the stolen engines, and I would have thought they at least had some readings or something on the ring, so the whole thing plays off as a little shallow to me...) But I also felt like the opposition should have brought up that two pilots DIED in her mission.
@ThomasCorp9 ай бұрын
@@lisamarieligreci-newton7804No, yeah, it is an interesting line to walk. That’s a good point you raise of the concern of Hera being a wartime leader having difficulty adjusting to peace. We, the audience, would have faith in her, yet for the characters, not an invalid thought. I do like and am sympathetic to Mon Mothma who whilst fundamentally on Hera’s side, makes it clear that she’s not fully supportive of everything Hera’s done in this show. And I would be more sympathetic to the points Xiono raised were it not for the fact that he’s got his own personal vendetta against Hera, not to mention his own ignoring the rules by excluding Princess Leia from the votes that she should have been part of. And yes, the show kind of forgets to mention about the pilots dying in the hearing.
@lisamarieligreci-newton78049 ай бұрын
@@ThomasCorp I mean, yeah, to be clear Xiono's a dick! And we know in Resistance (which I don't expect many people to have watched, haha), he IS kind of an obstructionist who just wants to stick his head in the sand during conflicts and see who comes out on top. But I will be honest, one of my biggest criticisms of Filoni's storytelling in general is how he often plays on this trope of how we, as the AUDIENCE may have faith in certain characters, but then the outside characters who don't are basically strawmanned and treated as irredeemably stupid villains. (Ahsoka's trial is in my opinion the WORST offender of this. Almost everything the Jedi do is eminently reasonable from their point of view and Ahsoka just constantly makes herself look HORRIBLE to an objective outsider but nope, Jedi bad, Ahsoka perfect!)

Good to see old Thrawn back in his element again! That Chiss... I love how someone like Morgan is essentially the audience's avatar: she's asking the questions We would want to ask ourselves. Considering how elaborate his schemes can be at times, it's perfectly plausibile that she would be confused. I don't know if I've said this before on this channel, but I'll say it again: Has anyone else noticed when Morgan Elsbeth is onscreen with Thrawn she goes from a tough, domineering and ruthless Sourcoress of Dathomirian heretige to a meek, submissive and sometimes even fearfull woman whenever she interacts with Thrawn? I think this really says alot about their Mentor-protegé relationship between these two charecters. What do you think?

It's truly a shame that Tolkien has already used the title "The Return of the King", as it would be equally as appropriate here. It should be noted that that was indeed Anthony Daniels in the suit, unlike in Obi-Wan Kenobi where he only provided the voice. My only complaint is that there was not literally a red carpet rolled out for him. Since I seem to keep bringing up casting announcements for this show, I want to mention that this is the one bit of casting that was kept completely under wraps. The rest of us were just as surprised as you were when the King arrived. I may not have screamed like you did, but I definitely did my reenactment of the "Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the screen" meme while babbling incoherently. Definitely a highlight, both for the show, and for your reactions for the show this far. I did have a few more things that I wanted to say, but I think that they are points that would be better made once you've seen the entire show. Take care of yourself. Your health above all else. Oh, one thing I can say without spoilers is that there was a bit of Rebels set up that was paid off here. Just as Ezra's parting words to Sabine were that he was "counting on her to see this through", the departing exchange between Ezra and Ahsoka in the World Between Worlds in Rebels season 4 was Ezra telling Ahsoka to come find him, and Ahsoka promising that she would.
