Baylan Skoll is very quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in all of Star Wars. It’s genuinely impossible for me to get a read on him. He is bringing Thrawn back which he knows will start a war, but he’s not a true believer in the Empire and he looks like he doesn’t really care about the war either way. Even his fighting style is incredibly different from other Jedi, his stance more closely resembles that of English knights while Ahsoka’s is more akin to samurai. As for the ENDING! As soon as I saw the unusual waves emitting from around Ahsoka I said “no….no, no, no, no, no” and then the camera panned up and I was silent, until I heard “Hello, Snips” and I started crying and reacted just like Louise! God I just wish Ray Stevenson lived to see how his performance looked on screen. Rest In Peace Ray you will never be forgotten.

He seems to be much more deliberate and efficient in fighting which is cool. He does a lot more casual sidesteps/dodges than the indiscriminate sword spinning of a LOT of Jedi in the prequels.
@AngeloBarovierSD
@AngeloBarovierSD Жыл бұрын
@@tearstoneactual9773There’s a chance he did but (a) dailies without VFX, editing, score, etc. are just reviewing work not witnessing the storytelling, (b) some actors abhor dailies and prefer to watch only the final product, and (c) Lucasfilm/Disney secrecy is legendary. Still, I hope he got to see some early cuts. The greatest tragedy is that he never got to experience the tremendous reaction to his character and performance. He truly evoked a man of honour with a dangerous goal. An experienced and methodical dark knight, but still a captivating and appreciable presence. Well done, Ray. Rest easy.

Not only do I love to see "Broadsword v Kendo" fights, but the beginning where they were sizing each other up was a great example of two classically trained Jedi, well versed in the various styles, switching stances to counter each other.

I think Sabine's judgment is being clouded by her desire to find Ezra, but I think she also has the start of a plan. I think Ahsoka did get it through her head how dangerous it would be for Thrawn to return, and Sabine thinks she just saw Ahsoka die and thinks she's the last chance to both find Ezra and stop Thrawn from coming back. As long as Thrawn is alive, his allies will try to find him, Sabine knows that, and thinking she is the last hope to stop him, she needs to get to him to be able to kill him.
@watchmesquatch
@watchmesquatch Жыл бұрын
Why does she think she saw Ahsoka die? Right, because her own selfishness lead to Ahsoka being bested. Ezra wouldn't approve at all.
@little-wytch
@little-wytch Жыл бұрын
@@watchmesquatch I don't completely disagree. Sabine's desire to find Ezra is absolutely clouding her judgment. But she was trying to use the threat of destroying it to save Ahsoka in that moment and when that failed she was devastated to see yet another person she cared about taken away from her. That's one of the core principles of this show, displaying that it's never as simple as right or wrong. Nothing is without a little selfishness. Even when someone saves a bunch of people, it's not just because it's "the right thing to do" it's also because that person doesn't want to see a bunch of innocent people die, they don't want to feel the pain and guilt that will follow if they feel. It's not their primary motivation, but it's still there. Sabine figuratively lost her family to the Empire, then got them back, only to lose them again completely. She made the distraction to let Ezra slip away at the end of Rebels and feels responsible for his disappearance because of that. Her master just seemed to die in front of her. The only thing she has left to lose is the hope of finding Ezra, so from her point of view, I suspect she's going to free Ezra while killing Thrawn or die trying.

@little-wytch
@little-wytch Жыл бұрын
@@Greenhawk4 hence the "or die trying" part 😛 But also, she's a Mandalorian with the entire trip to another galaxy to come up with a plan and she went "willingly" despite being cuffed at the end, so she might be able to gain their trust along the way. Probably not, but Baylon was right when he told her they have a common goal, to make that trip. If something happens en route and she helps to fix the ship, I can see her getting a little leeway... or rigging to ship to explode on her trigger lol.

The variation in fighting styles for each character is AMAZING, because they fight how you think they would! Ahsoka as a samurai with katanas, fast, precise, meditative, Baylan like this old, wise templar knight with a longsword and brutal blows, Shin fights like a young viking, full offense, quick and angry and Sabine just swings, inexperience with the sword showing, but not in combat, more proficient with her guns. @LouiseJulie I just wanted to tell you; I met Hayden at comic con and showed him your reaction to him coming back in Obi Wan. He smiled and said “I’ve seen her before.” He told me not only did he bingewatch all of Star Wars to make his comeback to the franchise, but after he first appeared in Obi Wan, he watched every reaction on KZbin to see if he could take any advice from US, the FANS, in order to make his performance better in Ahsoka (if that were somehow possible). He is so humble, so down to Earth, and such a kind person. It amazes me how he’s able to portray evil so sadistically, and good so brilliantly. People call him a bad actor sometimes, but I think he’s the greatest. And him telling me that exemplifies all of it.

I dig baylen. As classy a dark side user as dooku, but with better hair. Also digging the little dark apprentice for the smoldering eyes. Stay awesome ❤

You can't be a Star Wars fan if you didn't at least tear up because of that last 2 minutes. I'm a grown ass man and I was almost bawling. Wow!

Anakin looks so innocent in this episode it makes me feel so bad for him in what he went through in the prequels and as Vader just by seeing his facial expressions like damn man

There were a couple of cliff-hanger moments when I thought Ahsoka was going to doze off and not wake up again.

I like how Shin reacted to Maroks death. She obviously valued him as a comrade, whatever he was. She isn't typical darkside that just sees everyone as disposable.

One thing I loved in this episode, that I feel I have to point out, is the different fighting styles between Ahsoka and Baylan. Ahsoka is fighting like a samurai with a katana, while Baylan is fighting like a knight with a greatsword, and I LOVE THAT SHIT! I love when jedi are definitively shown to fight like the real life fighting styles they're based on!

I'm glad Marrok wasn't some great reveal and his end was rather understated, used only to demonstrate Morgan's Nightsister powers. Though I was yelling at the TV for Sabine to destroy the map, I knew that she wouldn't because a) the show would end right there (threat averted! everyone go home!); b) she's willing to risk it all to find Ezra. One other thing to consider: though Ahsoka is right about the greater good to destroy the map to prevent a war despite the chance to return Ezra home, perhaps there's a little nudging of the force deep within Sabine for her to give up the map. I'd guess that this is Ahsoka's "Gandalf" moment, when she will become Ahsoka the White.

In your reaction to episode one, you pondered if the hidden temple with the night sisters murals could be another access point to the world between worlds. The star map was full of witchcraft when Ahsoka tore it from the pedestal. And we saw her being burnt by it. Maybe that "magic overload" is what actually hurled her to the Force plane - and not to death.
