Sabine's character suffers from weird teenager syndrome when she's not even a teenager. She's portraid in the first episode as this rebel and secluded character (as if she's cool or something) and it just didn't fit her age at all. If she was like that in Rebels fine, but she was also younger in Rebels. Here she's quite a bit older, an adult and she acts like she has no responsibilities at all. Cutting her hair didn't mean shit, and she's not even decided if she wants to be a jedi or a mandalorian at all. She said that Ahsoka took her as an apprentice, but she didn't say she chose that path for herself at all. It's just such a badly written character, it reminds me a bit of Raffi from Star Trek. Just a character you wish wasn't present in any episodes and the episodes would be better for it.

Her cutting her hair was accurate and good. She's not well realized as a character but your examples are incorrect. Her cutting her hair was perfectly valid. It happened for two reasons; physically, hair doesn't fit well in a helmet....and spiritually it's a personal way of saying "OK, let the past go, move forward." You talk about HER having the mindset of a teenager...but uh...pots and kettles much?

@@resnatachyon I think they will have to recast. I can't see them finishing Baylan's story in one episode. I suspect Filoni will want a season 2, or to bring Baylan back for the "Heir to the Empire." Thrawn: "Dispatch two gunships to assist the mercenaries." - The gunships Thrawn sent his Night Troopers in, they could have just kept aerial advantage and bombarded down onto Ezra, Sabine, Ahsoka and their gang of crabs, how could they have fought back? Thrawn has aerial superiority but chooses not to use it? Genius. He could have pinned them down quite easily, yet chooses not to and then calls for his troops to retreat after they hit nothing, due to crabs + everyone else having plot armour. Conveniently, this allows Ahsoka perhaps enough time to get to Thrawn in the next episode. In short, this episode was made for 7 year olds. But it doesn't surprise me when Disney are at the helm.
@Noctuam734
@Noctuam734 11 ай бұрын
I don't think you got his plan. The aim here is to leave Ahsoka and team occupied for enough time for Thrawn's escape. And he'll probably win. He intended to leave the mercenaries and Ahsoka fighting off so he can just leave them stranded. And it only cost 2 small ships with some troops. Sparing resources for his battle against the New Republic.
@LizardSpork
@LizardSpork 11 ай бұрын
@@Noctuam734That's NOT his plan, that's his fallback plan. He even said as much about placing the enemy where he wants them, that's not a delaying action. And even if he was just trying to strand them, you know what works great at enemy suppression? Aerial bombardment and harassment from afar. You risk 0 troops and just expend ammo which judging from the shitton of mines they deployed, the Ring ship has aplenty. He even said in a previous episode "our numbers have dwindled", so manpower is an issue.

@AaronAntonJ 11 ай бұрын
@@Noctuam734 @lizardSpork has already nailed it with his reply. But, I'll add onto that. If you're capable of even holding off your enemy or even killing them with only using two gunships, whether you lose them or not, you've still achieved your goal. You then know for certain, there is no way they can stop your ultimate plan and you'll be leaving this galaxy momentarily regardless, so as he said previously, whether they're stranded here or killed either way, it is a win, but he could have guaranteed it, with aerial bombardment. 1 ship, 3 people and a clan of crabs vs a star destroyer, gunships and tie fighters, yeah, it doesn't make sense, no matter which way you want to add it up.

OH MY LORD, THANK GOD FOR ALEX……30 sec into the video “the director didn’t know what they doing, although everything works on paper”…. My brain was melting trying to understand why certain shots were framed so awkwardly, certain holds/pauses between dialogue and edits between different character plot lines. Like it’s one of those rare times where I don’t necessarily blame the script, cause I was picturing what I would do to make the sequences better and it never came to the script, just the framing, overall cinematography, and editing. People don’t use the word “epic” anymore when it comes to Star Wars, and it’s sad. Say what you will about the Last Jedi, I wasn’t a huge fan either, but man that starship suicide scene was unforgettable, despite the lack of logic. Framing does so much for immersion and this episode suffered so much from how poorly it was applied.

What changed between episode 1 and episode 7 that made Baylan tell Shin "please go fight a Jedi and just die already, I don't like you"? My issue with Thrawn's portrayal is the same as it was in Rebels. Instead of authentically demonstrating his brilliance through his actions and choices, they rely on exposition and plot convenience. When decision after decision leads to shitty outcomes, that’s not brilliance because he sounds smart justifying it. If everything works out and you’re looking at a dozen ways it could have gone wrong that didn’t for no particular reason, that’s not genius, that’s plot armour.

 Witnessing a character's brilliance should leave you genuinely perplexed about how the heroes could overcome the character's decisions. Maybe they'll still bring it home, but it doesn't look like that's the Thrawn we’re getting.

Don't know if you noticed, but the decisions throwing wrenches in their plans are not Thrawns doing. He's forced to react to the crap decisions made by Morgan. She brought the mercenaries with her, one of which is AWOL. She brought Sabine with her, who is now teamed up with Ezra and Ahsoka. She led Ahsoka straight to them, thus allowing one of the most powerful Jedi to meddle with their plans. Thrawn only cares about one thing. Getting back to his own galaxy. Thus far, the problems Morgan brought with her have done little to nothing to slow his plans down. The man allows room for the unexpected. So far, he has accurately surmised that letting Sabine and Ahsoka dally about is of little concern because their primary objectives are to find each other. They're so distracted by that that they don't even know what Thrawn is planning.

@@Donut0389 I feel like this is you projecting what you think Thrawn is doing. Saying "he's allowed room for the unexpected" is just another way of saying "the plot requires this to happen so it has", unless he has shown us (not told us) that he's rolled with the punches before. This series hasn't gained that kind of traction with his character in order to make that determination. They are relying on our previous knowledge of Thrawn as on of the EU's best characters to carry them through the rough writing and plot conveniences. Thrawn acts like this in EU, so clearly he must also act like this in Ahsoka. That's called the easy way out.

I don't care what anyone says, I hated the episode, and it made me think that Thrawn is an absolute joke that no one should ever fear. His contact point with the Nightsisters is a tower that is like 2 miles away from where Ezra has been hiding the entire time and Thrawn couldn't find him. He let Sabine go when he could have used her as a hostage, or just killed her. He said that he wisely sent Sabine away to distract Ahsoka, basically acknowledging the fact that he, his Stormtroopers, the Nightsisters, and the Jedi mercenaries are all too weak and incompetent to defeat one lone Jedi. How is he supposed to be a galaxy-wide threat that everyone should be terrified of when he can't find a shepherd boy living amongst the only peaceful settlement within miles and he can't even defeat a single former Jedi when he has a Star Destroyer, a legion of Stormtroopers, Nightsisters, and Jedi mercenaries at his disposal? This show is just proof that it doesn't matter how dumb you make something, because if you make it look pretty, you use good cinematography and editing, and present it in a way that seems stoic and important, the audience will eat it up like buttered popcorn.

He never really attempted to kill Ezra. it makes no sense for him to be trying to murder them. It’s not what’s important if you leave them stranded in a galaxy, they’re not gonna be much of it throughout why waste resources trying to hunt them down, he’s controlling the variables keeping where they are. Remember the artifact room in Andor full of artifacts from dead Star Wars characters from outside of canon which had nothing to do with the non-existent plot? That was fanservice. Your generation had every opportunity to not bully George into selling Star Wars to the empire. Dave Filoni is the best you can hope for now. Just because it explores the backstory of likeable characters from other entries does not make it likeable in and of itself. The fanbase also has The Force Awakens as the 2nd highest grossing SW film to date and has TFA and TLJ as some of the highest rated SW films in the saga. The difference with this shows slow scenes and Andors slow scenes is that Andors slow scenes are actually warranted and have satisfying payoff. They’re as slow as Breaking Bad’s slow scenes are.

I wish a had Joe as a teacher🤣"Yeah, nothing works, the action is bad, there is no plot, the characterrs are dumb and stupid, the scenes dont make sense either, but the landscapes are cool, so therefore I will it a 6/10 rating!"

People like Joe is the reason why all the disney star wars is shit. Maybe if we told them it was shit instead of rating everything a 6/10, then we would actually get some good content for once, instead of this garbage... disappointing

Question: If the three witches could locate Ashoka using their balls. Why couldn't they do the same to find Ezra? Are you really telling me, that Thrawn, did not think to use them to locate Ezra, and eliminate the threat at all, in the decade they were on that planet? This episode was just like the rest, poorly written, with no substence. Seriously 7 episodes in, and what has really happened? They found a ball, lost the ball, used space whales to follow bad guys to another galaxy.... that is all that has happened in 7 episodes.

I think I'd give the episode a 6/10 after sitting on it. Slightly above average is more than fair. It feels absolutely surreal to see _Rebels_ and _Clone Wars_ characters come to life, but outside of that it was just kind of eh for me. Baylan v Ahsoka round 2, Ezra and Sabine vs Shin and the troopers were the high lights. The banter between Ezra and Sabine was something straight out of _Rebels_ writing. And seeing Ezra fight with only the Force really feels like a completion of his journey. Kanan had to drill it into him several times, that "having a laser sword doesn't make you a Jedi." and it's honestly a refreshing take on the whole "this weapon is your life!" because....it shouldn't be. Your lightsaber would be a part of you, an extension of you, but not VITAL to you. Kanan's teachings fit for the time period he and Ezra were in. Even Ahsoka Tano taught him how to defend himself from her swings without his saber. I think it would be an important lesson to teach any Padawan. To not over rely on ONE thing. It would be like putting all your skill set in one trait vs being a jack of all trades. And we've seen in nature how that works. Often not well. Cheetahs are prime example of this. They maxed out on speed and thus get bodied by EVERY big cat in Africa. And that's not even the end of what they get bodied by. So it's smart to me to not have Force sensitives rely on one skill set. Also seeing him Force stop Shin's saber is incredible. It's great to see more of that in canon. I feel like you really need to be powerful in the Force to do that, because you're not stopping the PERSON but the BLADE. One second's worth of lapse in concentration and you're done.

While you're wrong about the animal specialization thing (Case in point: most successful creatures are either exclusively carnivores or herbivores like the crocodile being a specialized aquatic carnivor, dinosaurs being specialized in their respective fields for millions of years, and your Cheetah example being utterly wrong as they are not "brawlers" like lions are because they have not evolved for speed and getting away) I'd agree with your assessment i the episode. Hopefully the Abaloth sp[eculations hold and Thrawn doesn't die

@@alexanerose4820 lol I can concede I was thinking of things on the fly and when that happens I CAN kind of be like you know...just...incorrect lol. I was trying to think of a good analogy for Padawans to be taught to not rely on one skill set, and cheetahs came to mind because they maxed out on speed and that kind of does them in imo. I don't think Thrawn is gonna perish in the finale. This will tie into the Filoni movie along with BOBF, and Mandalorian. He needs it all to come together and Thrawn being the threat in a film would make the most sense. And I think that's where Ahsoka will meet her end too. She made her debut in a theatrical movie, she should have her final curtain call be in a theatrical film.

Sabine never tells Ezra anything important during this whole episode. They even get attacked by Thrawn's forces. Ezra asks Sabine if she knows anything about them. Sabine barely gives a vague answer. Ezra is totally in the dark about Thrawn's plans, the fate of galaxy, the undoing of his sacrifice by Sabine, everything. SABINE IS TERRIBLE AND MAKES THIS SERIES AWFUL.
